Nikki
Hi DebbieJo... Feel for you. I agree with Alto, let go of the homeopathy solution, increase the seroxat very gently. We have all had to do this and probably numerous times. It does help with symptoms. Go above the 3mL ~ you may need to take 4 or 5. Once you level off or stabilize then just stay put. Hope you feel better soon. Administrator Karma Posted May 7, 2012 Administrator Share Posted May 7, 2012 Hi Debbiejo, I agree with Alto - I would stop taking the remedy made by the homeopath. I found that once I had started to experience withdrawals that supplements and homeopathy that would ordinarily work just didn't work for me any more. I found that for me to get control of my withdrawal symptoms I had to increase my Effexor doses back up to 43.75 mg ... a total of 18.75 mg increase ... but that was Effexor and that was my experience - it doesn't mean you will need to increase your med that much. I understand the homeopath's concern about not reading forums ... think about it, only people who are suffering are going to post. People who aren't having withdrawal symptoms aren't really visiting these forums are they? Now, what do you get from these forums? You get support from people who have or are experiencing what you are experiencing - we can relate to what you are feeling. We can provide suggestions based on what we have seen work for others who have or are experiencing what you are ... there are no guarantees, but the advice here has been very helpful to me. The folks on this forum can relate to your experience better than doctors can because we've been there. You have to make your own decisions. But if you choose to stay you will be supported. Shanti
Hi Debbie. Sorry I didn't get your email until now. I wrote you back, then I made a post about this issue in the support forum, as it happens all the time. I don't know why Homeopaths don't understand the difference between a side effect and a withdrawal. Yes, like Alto said, you should just not take the remedy. It's a waste, and she probably didn't dilute it enough anyway. I bumped up the Homeopathy thread in the other section and you might want to try one of the remedies I wrote in there. Best of luck, and if you have any questions just ask Taper from Cymbalta, Paxil, Prozac & Antipsychotics finished June 2012. I'm takin a calming remedy too which doesn't seem to work that the homeopath made for me. But it's none of what shanti advises to take so I guess I will stop seeing her now as I know she's trying to help but can't as she doesn't understand. Shanti
Also Debbie, I personally didn't like to spend a lot of time here when I am down. When I'm fine I try to help where I can, but if a person is already scared, hearing other people's stories can scare you even more. That is one reason I like this support group more than another popular one, is that there is more of a message of hope here. It's important to remember that people recover. I always liked to look at the success stories when I was down. As I said, I'm much better now so these sad stories don't get me down. If I had more time I'd be here more now. When you aren't feeling up to it, just go straight to your journal and we can talk to you here. I totally understand. Taper from Cymbalta, Paxil, Prozac & Antipsychotics finished June 2012. Barbarannamated
Debbiejo, Glad you had a better day! You hit on my worst enemy: unscheduled time, idle mind. Truly the devil's playground. Or, in the words of Styx "...too much time on my hands... ticking away with my sanity..." Leads to strange posts, too. ;o I never suffered from anxiety prior to DCing psych meds. Had situational stress with a defined triggers (work projects, meeting), but not wacky generalized anxiety set off by trivial things that I put a negative spin on (and keep spinning). RE: homeopath suggestion to leave group... hers is a typical attitude to a "support group" and not without some truth, as you mentioned. I try to moderate myself because it can be overwhelming, especially having so much time on my hands. However, I consider this much more than a typical support group sharing war stories. There is more technical information and knowledge on this site than in the entire medical profession. This group exists because the medical profession has abandoned us. There are no good sources of medical info on tapering safely to minimize withdrawal symptoms. I think most MDs would be shocked to see the level of knowledge here. I once read a detailed post to my husband (an MD) and his first question was "what doctor advised that?" He wasn't challenging the info. I knew he didn't know the drugs as well. I told him it was not"medical advice" but a peer sharing info learned through own experience due to lack of medical help (I admit it was a bit of a dig at MDs!). MDs aren't experts in drugs. Prior to online drug info and prescribing guidelines, some docs consulted a trusted pharmacist (in a shared medical building, for example) if questions arose. I'm not sure if that still happens and, sadly, I don't see the calibre of pharmacists that used to be common even though they are required to have a doctorate degree now as loosed to a Bachelor's in past. I knew an MD/PharmD who told me that the pharmacy boards (test for licensure) were much harder than medical boards. Just one person's opinion, but scary nonetheless. Sorry, I veered way off topic there! I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in about whst your homeopath said. This situation is a different beast. Nikki
Hi Debbiejo....just checking in. Teva is a well know company. Don't worry about it. Once you up the dose, you should feel better. Give it some time. You may want to give yourself a nice respite once you've stabilized. Rhi has pointed that out to me that it is like finding an oasis where you can stop and rest, enjoy life a bit and catch your breath, until the next drop in dose. xDebbiejo
Hi all Me again, just wondering if there is a document that describes in detail the severe side effects when on paroxetine. Nikki
Hi Debbiejo... Mornings are so the worst !!!! I feel somewhat normal around 6 in the evening Feel tearful today but so many things to deal with xxx All of what you are feeling is WD. Mornings are my worst time. We have posted the AM anxiety issue on her alot. It's a problem for most of us. Apparently cortisol levels start to spike at about 5am even without being in WD. Tearful...that was a big one for me. I could not hold it in. It was involuntary and it could happen several times a day. Debbiejo, just let the flood gates open. It's a sort of purging process that we all may have to go with to let off some of the frustration and fear we experience thru this process. You are @ 10mgs. Paxil? I have read many posts of people who upped their dose of Paxil and it took time to level off. You have been at 10 for about a week now? You may want to up it again. You may want to consider increasing it again by another 2mgs.or 5mgs., see what happens and then make another decision after that. I just want to see you stabilize I know how you feel... Administrator Karma Posted May 14, 2012 Administrator Share Posted May 14, 2012 Debbiejo, How old is the liquid prescription you are taking? I'm just wondering because the liquid Effexor I just picked up is only good for 28 days. If your Paxil liquid has expired during the time you were off, then you might not be getting the full dose you think you are. Mine is a compounded suspension and so it is probably not as stable as a medication made as a liquid on purpose. I'm just looking at possibilities for why you are not feeling relief. If the liquid is old, you might see if you can get a fresh prescription of it and stay at 10 mg. It may be that with a fresh prescription you may feel some relief. On the fish oil ... I take 1500 mg AM and 1500 mg PM of Krill Oil (which is a special kind of fish oil). I think I adjusted by 500 mg at a time until I got to this dosage and it has worked out well for me. Word of caution - if you decide to try a fresh prescription, then only change that. Track how you feel for a week before you try increasing fish oil or trying something different. Administrator Altostrata Posted May 14, 2012 Administrator Share Posted May 14, 2012 Were you doing better on the liquid? If you're hypersensitive, the variation in the pills when you're cutting them could be a problem. If you take the liquid, you can be more precise. Has the tingling changed any over the last few days? Nikki
Debbiejo.... Stick with the liquid. If you don't feel any relief you may want to increase a small amount. The hot tingles are a drug symtpom. For me it is a sensation from decreasing. The Cold Turkey really knocks us for a loop. That may be why it is taking time to kick in. When I would go back up in dose I was still on the drug. Maybe that is the catch here. As for your son, yes that is very stressful. It's hard to deal with these issues while trying to stabilize. Does he know what is happening with you? Explain it to him and ask for his cooperation. Hope you feel better soon.
