Buddy46: tapered off Valium and Seroquel

I tapered off Valium 3 months ago. I had been on Valium 9 years this time.

After about 30 days, I decided to get rid of the seroquel. I was only on 25mg. Had been on it about 15 months. Never missed a day. I’m also still on 15mg of remeron.

With the seroquel I went to 12.5mg for about two weeks then went to 6.25mg for a couple days then jumped off. It’s been 8 days now.

My stomach had spasms so bad Sunday I thought I might have to go to the ER.  Felt like someone was squeezing my stomach and also other muscles were stiff too. Watery loose stools as well. I’m also getting weakness in my shoulders and back.

Im wondering with this small of dose, could seroquel withdrawal cause tightness in the body or could this be a side effect of remeron?

Hi Buddy and welcome to SA.

I am sorry you are having such a rough time

This site is run by volunteer Mods and Administrators whose only aim is to help with effects of Antidepressants & Benzos.

We are however extremely busy and appreciate members responding to requests for information when asked.

We only ask for info. we need to help with your situation.

You took your last dose of Seroquel on 8/13, is that correct?

Your Seroquel taper was much too fast and put you into withdrawal

The only known way to mitigate W/D ( withdrawal symptoms) is to reinstate a low dose of the medication.

I suggest you take 6.25mgs daily while we monitor you, it may be necessary to increase further if this dose does not ease symptoms.

Take all other meds at the usual time. Consistency is essential to allow us to follow your progress.

In order to do this we need a daily symptom diary in the following format

DATE:

6 a.m. Woke with anxiety
8 a.m. Took 2.5mg Lexapro
10 a.m. Stomach is upset
10:30 a.m. Ate breakfast
11:35 a.m. Got a headache, lasted one hour
12:35 p.m. Ate lunch
4 p.m. Feel a bit better
5 p.m. Took 2.5mg Lexapro
6 p.m. Ate dinner
9:20 p.m. Headache
10:00 p.m. Took 50mg Seroquel
10:20 p.m. Feeling dizzy
10:30 p.m. Fell asleep
2:30 a.m. Woke, took 3mg Ambien
2:45 a.m. Fell asleep
4:30 a.m. Woke but got back to sleep
