Hi Sass, the chemist gave me a 5ml syringe and a 2 ml syringe so I’m guessing that will get me going. If I take 4mls from the big syringe but then how much from the small syringe. My maths is terrible! Is it 0.9mls? Moderator Emeritus Sassenach Posted December 10, 2019 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted December 10, 2019 Hi Ally It is 4.95mls You are starting @25mgs = 5mLs and want 1% reductions Using a calculator (starting dose) 5 x 99% (percentage key) =4.95mLs Next reduction 5mLs x98% =4.9mLs These are tiny amounts, if you find them difficult to keep accurate. Try dissolving some of the liquid in water and get back to me. We can create a mix of 25mLS = 25mgs provided it dissolves. This would then mean you will removing 0.25mLs per 1% raher than 0.05. As it stands fill the 5mLs syringe full ie 5mLs. Place in a mixing vessel and remove 0.05mLs not 0.5 with small syringe, you then have your dose left. Remember to add water to the mixing vessel after you take the dose, swill and consume to ensure you get full dose. If you need to try the alternative method you will need a syringe of at least 25mLs. As you are so sensitive to dose changes it is essential to get this right. Any doubts get back to me. Pity we have such a time difference. So 99% = 9.9mls Then I take off the evenjng dose of 5mls which leaves me with 4.9mls. so then I would use the 5ml syringe and put 5mls in a mixing dish. Then remove 0.1mls leaving 4.9mls for the morning dose. Take that then add water to ensure I get all the dose. That is what the GP worked out for me. Is this correct? thanks ally FreeAlly History Oct 2015 - Started Luvox Nov 2015 - Started Amitriptalyne Jan 2018 - Started Ferograd C Iron Supplement Jan 2018 - Started Armaforce immune support supplement Feb 2019 - started on probiotic Link to comment
Moderator Emeritus Sassenach Posted December 11, 2019 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted December 11, 2019 Hi Ally Apologies, forgot evening dose. 4.9 mLs is correct. Good to see your GP is on board. Will take 7-10 days for reduction to fully register. If you experience few or no symptoms hold for a 4-6 weeks depending on how you feel. You may fimd you can accelerate the taper in due course but slow and steady is safe. Good luck. Please keep in touch with how you are progressing. At this stage I’m only swapping over from cutting the pills to liquid form in the morning and pill in the evening. I’d already reduced the dose by 1% a month or so ago so I just want to do the swap over to liquid in the morning before doing another reduction. It may cause a bit of an upset just changing to liquid so will see how it goes. I’ll wait a month or so before doing another reduction. Thank you so much for your help! I’ll be in touch.
