Hi pens ,

What  type of eye surgery did u have !?

Iam sorry u have hard times and pains but, this is withdrawals and that's why we hate them.

Take care of yourself and watch your food as u have a problem of upset stomach.

Mustafa

i wasn't on a certain drug all the period. i took many drugs many times and for no very long period but to simplify.

--fluvoxamine maleate100 mg + amisulpride 200mg------started july 2012 and total taper in february 2015 ( 9 months without drugs then)

--sertraline 100mg -------started november 2015 and total taper (withoud reduction slowly) in november 2016( 4 months withoud drugs then).

--sertraline 100mg + quetiabine 25mg ( started in mars 2016 and for 7 months) then fluvoxamine maleate 100mg again for another 7months and after that a something like to use every drug for 14 days and for about 1.5 years.

--my last drug was trintellix 10 mg ( used it in 12/2018and total taper in 4/2019).

symptomts i have now ( bad concentration and problems in short and long memory+ bad depersonalization).

@manymoretodays hi, I don’t like bothering you. My stomach is very tender and I’m losing weight. I’m trying to stick to low histamine diet and I take tums or gaviscon only if I have to. I’m dizzy ,weak and wondered would it partially be because I’m taking mirtazapine in liquid form and not the powder form. Would the liquid be more harsh?

No worries Pens, you are coming along very nicely with this all now.

Try, try to at the very least just maintain.......as far as the weight goes now.  I had concerns too, in the beginning.......and I still seem to run with about a 5 lb(2.27 kg) variance, in my weight.  It is totally okay to get some higher calorie, complex carbs in too.  Protein.  And fats.  Fats are necessary too.  I use the organic virgin coconut oil now, in cooking, and most days take the equivalent of about a tsp- ful.  It seems to help with overall energy and balance.  And then my omega 3's.  And do lot's of those little grazing type snacks throughout the day.  Healthy stuff.

So glad to hear that the surgery went well too!  That's great.

I thought I saw something about you going to see a naturopath soon.  So......on that, I would say take what you need, do your own research too, here and elsewhere, before going too gung-ho with extra and sometimes expensive supplements.  And of course,  here are some links, to some of our topics and discussions:

Important topics about tests, supplements, treatments, diet

^ the first post, there and then some of the subsequent information in the indexed list, should help

How good are naturopaths and other alternative practitioners?

This one is another members introduction:  DSN13: Natural remedies?

Hoping today is a great one for you Pens,  I'm thinking that things should level out here for you over the next week or two, post surgery and with the additional medication.

Best,

L, P, H, and G,

mmt

Started with psycho meds circa 1988 I think 27 or 28 total.

AD's, antpsychotics, antiseizure mood stabilizers. Lithium, lamictal ,benzos, and stimulants. Some med. for narcolepsy once(Provigil,) Gabapentin........probably more.  Ask me?......I probably was on it.  Haphazard W/D's by Dr. recommend or uneducated self.

10/2014- off Lexapro--had been on highest dose 10 mg. then 5 mg. for a couple of years, went from 5 mg. to 3 mg. liquid and then CT in hospital(voluntary).  I got out of the hospital on a combination of low dose adderal salts x1/day and trileptal 150mg. x2/day.

5/28/2015-off Adderal salts 2.5mg. (I had been on that since hospital 10/2014)

12/2015---just holding, holding, holding, with trileptal/oxcarb at 75 mg. 1/2 tab at hs.  My last psycho med ever!

3/21/2016---I did some unwise updosing of trileptal/oxcarbazepine with some stressful stuff......doubled the above dose x2 during this last wave but began liquifying again and on approximately 68mg. starting today.  11/12//2016 24 mg. oxcarbazepine  12/9/2016 off oxcarbazepine/trileptal!!!! :) optimistic  2016 December 9- completely off all medications!!!!!

Omega3's,EPA +DHA= 1800 mg/day. Magnesium complex, orally, diluted in a liter of H2O(that I can shake up.....it usually dissolves more completely as the water gets down to room temperature) and/or Epsom salt baths prn.   Vit. C, D3, and E.  B12, melatonin tapered to 1mg., and bioidentical hormones sublingually.  Trace mineral drops.  L-lysine.  L-methylfolate=400 mcg plus daily spinach. Totally ready for a good long window to hit soon and getting better strings of full days and partial days along the way.  Definite improvement overall since I first arrived on the SA survivor ship.  Herb and alcohol free since 5/15/2016.  None of my posts are intended as medical advice.  Please discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical provider. manymoretodays

If this looks normal tapering then I’ll try not to worry. I’m keeping a diary on what food sits ok and what doesn’t as well as avoiding histamine triggers. I’m calmer without them. Eating marshmallows when stomach is upset. Will read the links you gave me. Thanks for advice. Have a good Presidents’ Day!

@manymoretodays hi, just wondered will the eye drops have an effect on my symptoms. I’m feeling really off, dizzy, tired panicky. I’m on the couch most of the time. Can’t seem to get motivated to do anything. Or is that still a part of the tapering process.

You could put the eye drops, by name into the top search box at Drugs.com, and see what comes up as far as if any systemic side effects go.

You could also then check it with your other drugs, as well, in the DrugInteractions-Drugs.com

You do, more than likely, need to continue with the eye drops, post cataract surgery.

How long are you supposed to use the drops?

And......this is way outside of any expertise that I have.......knowledge of post op- cataract surgery.  So, if need be, check with that doctor too.

Might be a bit of a restabilization period now, after the Ativan, you were given.  As well as having just gone through a surgical procedure.

It looked like you were getting some 6 hour sleep periods, prior to yesterdays notes.

You may just really need a little extra couch time, in the way of recovery now.

Hi Pens,

Hey, no inhalers??  I'm not seeing any listed.'

I'm also wondering though, if your "breathing doctor" is aware of the cataract surgery?

Or do you have one main, primary doctor, who is aware of all your health care needs?

Seems you might want to discuss the Flovent inhaler, the steroid one, with someone........as it does carry a risk of developing glaucoma.  And sheesh, I'd hate to have you develop any more eye problems.

Although the side effects of eye problems are listed as rare, it might be worth considering alternatives now that you have been through the cataracts.

Are you still for the most part, convalescing, post surgical procedure?  Or have you felt up to any more activity lately?  It hasn't even been a week yet, has it Pens?

I don't know for sure, but I expect I would need some quiet, recovery time after something like a cataract surgery.

I wish your sleep would improve a bit too.  5 and 1/2 hours is, however, not to bad.  Especially, if it's uninterrupted by wake ups.

What's the weather like now?  I was having a lot of temperature fluctuations too, for awhile.  Seems better for me, now.  I think since I have got in more physical activity again.  I think even if it's cold out, you might try some brief, gentle walks outside.......or consider a treadmill or something you could use inside??  I don't know if that's a possible for you.....going forward?  Might help with the overall healing and WD symptoms.

Best Pens.  (((((Pens)))))  So proud of you soldiering on through!  Oh, and eat!!!  Let's get your fighting weight back up!

Please discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical provider. manymoretodays

me too, but I think I'm getting more than I use to.

right now I'm really concentrating on my diet. I think my stomach is doing a lot of healing because its talking to me a lot. I was able to get down from three eye solutions to one. some side effects from them. I'm having small windows in the evening. I have cramps in the backs of my legs, (is that a WD symptom?)

thank you for your guidance and (((HUGS))), it means a lot. Have a nice day.

@manymoretodays Hi, after reading links about tapering, is there hope for me to eventually heal from all this. It looks like it will take a very long time especially since I quit the Pristiq and tapered the mirtazapine too quickly or does It look like I’m on schedule. I haven’t posted anything because I’m recovering from eye surgery and I think it won’t show true symptoms from the mirtazapine WD. Two more weeks to go then I done with the eye drop.

You are right on schedule Pens!  Again, as I keep posting this same metaphor around the site:  This can be more of a marathon, than a sprint.  Meaning it takes time for the healing to set in.

Are We There Yet? How long is Withdrawal going to take?

take a look at the first post ^, I think it might help

I know it's frustrating, but even when it doesn't feel like you are making any progress, healing is happening.  And your nervous system, is re-adjusting all the time.

Pens, I did it all fairly bassackwards before I got here, as far as how I tapered and withdrew from many, many medications........and I am doing okay today.

You are right on schedule Pens!  And so glad the recovery from the eye surgery is going so well.

Just update, when you can, and for support and encouragement too.........as I know that most of us, don't have many, or any on the ground, who quite "get all this".

I think you've done pretty well now, since just HOLDing at the 1.6 mg with the mirtazapine too.  If I were you, I might HOLD for even longer than the usual 4-6 weeks, before the next drop.  Taking into account the surgery and some additional medications and all.  Just to make sure that you are back to baseline WD a bit longer.  And then, maybe you won't feel much either, around the next taper.  Were you thinking of going less than 10% next taper?  A microtaper next?

Thank you, I really needed to hear this. I was afraid that I was maybe beyond help. That’s probably the WD talking but when you get out into the real world it becomes scary. Yes my eye is healing and I can see better but had to drop back on eye drop dosage of Pred forte because of allergic reaction. All I can think of is because of my ADW and the doctor doesn’t understand. I’m so very fortunate to have you to talk to because of your background history and so very happy for you that you were able to overcome your meds. I can look forward to recovery. I think I’ll take your suggestion and stay at the 1.6 ml. For a while. I see people taking a lot longer to taper than me and I still feel pretty incapacitated until supper time. I’m trying to build up my vitamin C for immunity by way of what I’m eating. The the eye drop hinders my immunity system. Praying for everyone out there going through this and wishing you the best! 💕 and thank you again manymoretodays for the encouragement.

take a look at the first post ^, I think it might help

Thanks for this. Made things clearer and helped by giving me some more insight. I did read some of this earlier on but now that I’m in the thick of it it makes more sense. 💐would it be ok to take a vitamin C because the eye drop suppresses my immune system and I don’t want to get sick as well.

Hi pens,

I see that you are suffering routinely from withdrawals, I dropped by to hold your hand and say: hang on and don't panic, it is a matter of time.

Take care of yourself.

i wasn't on a certain drug all the period. i took many drugs many times and for no very long period but to simplify.
