Did the itching start after you began taking sertraline?

Why would your doctor insist on your taking another drug?

Hi Pens,

In a couple of those notes above it looks like you get "reactive" after the sertraline 50 mg.  You noted the itching.

And the mag glycinate in warm water sure did seem to help too.  You might use that throughout the day in water, just split the dose up, into 2 or 3/day.  It should help with calming your nerves a bit too, or it did for me.  You could just do 1/3 of the 200 mg for 3X/day or 1/2 of it for X2/day.

Since it has just been 3 weeks since you last tapered the pregabalin, you might wait another week before tapering it again.

You have 2 options then, you could drop the 10 mg(I'm assuming that 10 mL is 10 mg, and correct me if I am wrong please).  That would be just shy of 10% off your current dose.

And then you could do 33 mg for each dose, 3X/day with your current times.  That would be 99 mg/day.  I don't know if anyone manages on twice a day dosing of pregablin.  Let me see what @Altostrata thinks?

And then keep notes coming too, as I'm wondering if you are reacting to the sertraline now......so let's see what the notes show.  Because then, if that is the case, it would make sense to be tapering that instead of the pregabalin.

Add in, on the right, any activity you are able to do, and get your sleep noted each day.  I just see one day with a miserable only 4 and 1/2 hours noted.

What is in the B50 that you note taking at different times?

And best, are you still working with more than one doctor?  I recall an allergist perhaps, or specialist, and then a regular GP?

My hands shake sometimes worse than others and my jaw. I noticed this got worse when I used my pregabolin. Also, I’m very sensitive to light, sound and confrontation. I feel a bit better in the evenings. I noticed that you can have tremors from sertraline and vitamin B deficiency.

I’m trying to eat healthier. I think my stomach needs a lot of healing and maybe all these drug changes have caused some damage to the lining. I haven’t been eating very good though so I’m trying to correct that. Dr. Stasha Gominak is also very interesting to listen to.

Okay, thanks Pens.

How long have you been taking the B50?

And of course, we often go with or recommend single ingredient supplements.

That way you would know just what you react to?

Often it's the B6 that most react to, by getting over activated, but some do react to the B12, and others too.

Hypersensitive to B vitamin or Bcomplex?

take a look ^

And ugh, as you do tend to react, the B50 may not be for you at this time.

Rule of 3KI's

So just a regular doctor now then?

And okay.  The notes are good Pens.  Thank you.  They often tell a story, of your body, that should be helpful for you too.

Good sleep tonight princess.  Best day ever tomorrow!

I’m not sure about the itching, will pay more attention.
when I went off the mirtazapine I had a meltdown, so was put on sertraline and pregabolin. I mentioned sertraline because if I had to go on anything I wanted something good. He wanted to up the dose but I kept it low. He liked pregabolin and said it was popular in England. He wanted me on a higher dose. I’ve kept it low. I’m frightened that my depression will get the best of me again, but I have been eating better. So maybe things will be different this time. I appreciate your help.

What does this mean?

Think hard: Did the itching start after you initiated sertraline? You may be allergic to sertraline.

Did you ever take sertraline at a different time of day, such as in the morning? What is your sleep pattern?

If you are afraid of your depression and you believe you must take an antidepressant for it, we may not be able to help you. What we do here is help people go off their drugs. If you want to reduce your psychiatric drugs, you'll have to cope with the symptoms with non-drug means.

However, it is very possible some of the symptoms you call depression are caused by the drugs you've been taking. You'll have to decide about this.

This is not medical advice. Discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical practitioner.

Oh wow, great pick up by Alto.

I thought you were just mis-spelling reacting.

And so.....it is spelled Reactine, aka certirizine,

Second generation antihistamines include cetirizine (Reactine® and various generics), fexofenadine (Allegra® and various generics), and loratadine (Claritin® and various generics). A third generation antihistamine is desloratadine (Aerius®).

And then you are still using Gravol(dimenhydrinate) too, Pens?  It's another class of antihistamine than the certirizine, meant for short term use for prevention of nauseau and vomiting.

And I know I worried about you having paradoxical effects from the Gravol in the past.  Paradoxical meaning that instead of calming it would become more excitatory.

Are you attempting to alternate usages of them?

And then what are you using them for?  I mean the itching, or for sleep, or out of habit?

I do wonder if you might be able to see an Allergist via telehealth.  It's really prevalent here in the States now, to use telehealth and insurances have expanded to cover it as well.

And then I know I gave you this before, but I will give it again:

Antihistamines for withdrawal insomnia

And then a few posts down, you'll also see where Alto posts:

" The SSRIs evolved from antihistamines."

And then I wonder if they are doing anything anymore for you.  How long have you been using the Reactine?

How long with the Gravol?

It does appear that one can build up tolerance to these drugs too.  Meaning that they stop having the desired effect, and then folks will try more and more.

That's about all I've got for today.  Oh, overall, how are you feeling cognitively- thinking and all right now?

I ran an interaction report using Zyrtec(for the cetirizine, as I couldn't get it to take Reactine), and then the sertraline and pregabalin.

Drug Interaction Report- Drugs.com

Oh Pens.  Sometimes less is more.

And best, L, P, H, and G,

mmt

And then I wonder if they are doing anything anymore for you.  How long have you been using the Reactine?

How long with the Gravol?

Reactin, or Claritin off and on since the summer. Gravol for a year. Up and down from 25 and lately to 50 mg. I’ve stopped, I think I’m getting withdrawals

Do you take it every night Pens, the Gravol?

I was not seeing it every night in your notes.

And.....I think, that best outcomes would be more likely, by doing a gradual reduction, or tapering off.  As you've been on it awhile.   So rather than jump off, taper.

What kind of symptoms are you having, that aren't some of the usual symptoms in the morning?

And then.....for right now, I think if I were you, I would just stick to making one change, in one thing, or variable at a time.  Otherwise it can get so very confusing, as to what might be doing what.

Look at that 3KI's link.  I think I gave it above.  If not, it's also right at the top of the list, in this forum, or the Introductions forum.  Hopefully that will help.

You're HOLDING, until the next taper of pregabablin.  And that is something too......that's like a change, if that makes sense?  Hope so.  And we're trying to get a grip or better understanding of what is doing what, presently, from your notes.  You are part of that "We" too, Pens.  B)❤️

I think I see another question related to your pregabalin taper, which I'll have to get back to, ASAP.

Just general life stuff Pens, car repairs, and other commitments, seem to be keeping me really busy lately.  Uh oh too, I hope I am not overdoing.......I don't think I am.  Feeling a bit nervous about some new adventures starting next week too.  Just to let you know I am not ignoring.........

Ohmygosh, I never feel like you’re ignoring me. I don’t know how you have time for your own life and then be giving so much of yourself for others. I appreciate all your help. Should I just cut the gravel in half then and make it 25 mg for how long a week and then come off. I think it was making me tired and agitated and depressed in the morning. Didn’t realize it. I know that you tried to get me to stop taking it several times. I’ll have to try the magnesium. I’m not sure if the sertraline is preventing me from getting to sleep or if I’m just messed up. I do feel a little bit more like myself today. Thanks for setting me on the right track. For your time and for giving me hope. Have a nice day!

I think 1/4 reductions would be okay, for the Gravol.

Even less, if you need to.

Just what’s in my notes. Today I’ve had more feeling in my hands and feet and warmer. Thought it might be from being off the gravol for 2 days.

Happy new year.
Monday I will be stopping the 10 ml. Pregabolin  and wondered if I should start taking 25 mg pill four times a day or if I should just wait a month after I stop taking the 10 ml. If that makes sense.
