I'm about to watch: hope zoom works for me!

Currently taking Ramapril (blood pressure) 5 mg twice a day

Omeprazole 10 mg AM and 20 mg PM  (the taper has gone nowhere after the first cut)

Famotidine   once a day (and I still needs tums sometimes)

magnesium 200 mg at night

as of yesterday 2 fish oil capsules "EPA-DHA 1000"

off Lexapro as of 5/2018  - last dose had been 5 mg every other day for a couple years

highest dose had been 20 mg at which point I was diagnosed with Bipolar II, which went away when I cut the lexapro down to 15 mg.

I spent years on Paxil before Lexapro (can't remember dose), briefly on Effexor and Abilify and others I have forgotten. in fact, when I was diagnoses with BPII I was put on all kinds of things which made me feel so bad I stopped them cold turkey within maybe 3 or 4 weeks, thank goodness. since then I've known these pills were terrible and I weaned down the Lexapro with zero help or support over I'm not sure how many years.

I attended the panel discussion today and shout out to @Altostrata for moderating. Totally agree with the panelist (Angela?) who said that these viewings of Medicating Normal are history in the making, in the (hopefully near) future there will be awareness of the danger of these drugs and healing from the carnage they wreak.

  • Prozac | late 2004-mid-2005 | CT WD in a couple months, mostly emotional
  • Sertraline 50-100mg | 11/2011-3/2014, 10/2014-3/2017
  • Sertraline fast taper March 2017, 4 weeks, OFF sertraline April 1, 2017
  • Quit alcohol May 20, 2017, quit coffee October 2017, quit cannabis 😩 July 2018
  • Magnesium powder, fish oil, estradiol, kombucha, gluten/dairy/histamine-lite
  • Lifestyle changes: AA, kundalini practice

It was worth the 3 a.m start. Gee i hope it gets out everywhere. The panel was great too. Wished it could.ve gone for 2 hrs.

Gussy

On effexor for at least 11 years. Last few years going through ivf treatment dose has ranged from 150-200mg. Mainly 150 though. Tapered from about 175mg mid jan 2017 to zero mid april 2017. 2&1/2 months of straight hell. Getting there now though.

Merged all the Medicating Normal topics.

See this page for the schedule of showings.

The Medicating Normal team is working hard to arrange more showings of the film. They are planning to put on more showings for those "down under" and in Asia. If you know of any school or organization that would want to "present" the film, please contact the team.

And, of course, they are always happy to get donations. The team promoting Medicating Normal are all volunteers working tirelessly without pay. The film was expensive to make; donations go to recouping the costs, paying for more showings, and honoraria for the organizations acting as presenters. SurvivingAntidepressants's honorarium is going entirely towards tapering and withdrawal research to be conducted in London by Dr. Mark Horowitz.

I watched this powerful film this past Saturday and I wanted to thank you @Altostrata for sharing your wisdom and experience. I absolutely recommend watching the film if you can and sharing it with loved ones who may get a better understanding of the context of your experience. The q&a after with the panel was excellent as well. It was touching to see how many people are working really selflessly to help others along this painful and frightening path. I am in a much better place as a direct result of all of these people's actions.

2005-2009 18mg concerta on and off

2009-2013 ritalin and buproprion on and off; 2010 nortryptyline & amitriptyline for back pain following car accident

2014 Apr - lamictal for 2 weeks until breaking out in hives

2016 Mar-Sep -  st. john's wort, rhodiola, other supplements tried

2016 Nov - began citalopram (4 months)

2017 Mar  - reached dose of 30mg citalopram (11 months)

2018 Feb - began taper, ~2.5mg/month, cutting tablets (3 months)

2018 May - 20mg, tried ~17.5mg but symptoms too strong, held at 20 (11 months)

2018 Nov - tried bupropion again, stopped within a couple months

2019 Apr - began ~5%/month taper from 20mg using dissolve in water and measure with syringe method

2020 Jan - stopped lorazepam; 0.5mg lorazepam average 3x/month since began citalopram; at most 3x/week

2021 Feb - holding at 10.35mg since Oct-9, ~0.5mg lorazepam/8days since Dec-12

Great discussion! So many strong individuals that have gone through the hell of these medications and are doing great things by helping as many people as they can. I shed many tears listening to this. Thank you all for what you do :)

I follow The Plant Paradox lifestyle by Dr.Gundry. This lifestyle has given me my life back and I feel better than I have ever felt in my life. It has enabled me to finally get off of this medication and truly live my life. Nutrition is the key to health!!!!!

2008 to 2019  - 20 mg Paroxetine

Attempted 2 CT's around the 5-6 year mark. Were absolutely terrible and reinstated. Was never explained by the doctor the seriousness of the short half life of this drug.

2017 - Attempted a tapered discontinuation of this drug and reinstated after being unsuccessful.

2019 - Feb. 12 - After a three month taper I am off of paroxetine. The 3 months were terrible, awful withdrawal feelings. I followed the doctors guidelines for the reduction of this drug and now know it was way too fast.
2019 - Oct. 12 - 8 months off paroxetine. 75% improvement since coming off the drug. Definitely have had tons of challenges along the way. Let’s go!!!!

2021 - Feb. 12 - 24 months off paroxetine. I have minor challenges now. Tinnitus/Headaches are still around but are reduced by a massive amount.

They have responding saying that they do not yet know if this will be available for "at leisure" viewing during the festival.

Just watched this this morning, amazing! Almost had me in tears.

It actually made me feel less isolated in this whole thing.

All the stories were fascinating but the one that resonated with me the most was the marine and the issues withdrawal cause with your partner.

I'm actually to scared to lower my taper at the moment as I have a new baby and a little girl and I'm scared it will break up the family.

10 years on various anti-depressants

5 years Effexor xr

tappered of 150mg in 6 months

nothing for two weeks

Reinstated 15 beads for 50 days

Tappered off then clean 2-3months

gradually went back up to 13 mg 3 years

bridged fluoxetine 10mg

2 week tapper

1 year clean

reinstated 5ml dispersed fluroxatine for 6months

Hello, can I ask where did you manage to watch this as I have been looking for it online following watching an interview with the marine but have not found it.  Another good podcast on you tube is 'lets talk withdrawal' maybe something else to feel even more less isolated.

November 2015 0 15mg Mirtazapine for 5 weeks and GP changed me to Effexor 150mg titrated up slowly as very sensitive.  Change was due to GP worried about weight gain on Mirtazapine.

Started to wean off Effexor over 16 months period and I had no issues at all. Stopped June 2020.  Unfortunately, I was under chronic stress from 4 deaths (1 was my mother) in the family amongst other things  and sunk back down in October 2020.  Rather than accepting this was chronic stress and grief, I panicked and went to GP.

October 2020 prescribed Vortioxetine 10mg for 1 month and then increased to 15 mg on for 7 weeks in total.  Had suicidal thoughts and off the wall anxiety.  Changed to Lexapro in mid December 2020, slow titration from 2.5mg up to 10mg.  After 7 weeks again off the wall anxiety, I did have side effects on all drugs from starting to take them.  I decided to go 'au natural', GP advised to 'lets get it out of your system.' I did 1 week at 5mg and stopped.  Last med was 02 February 2021.

I honestly did not realise after a short period of time I would experience such high anxiety, suicidal thoughts etc.  I was prescribed Diazepam to manage the symptoms but have only taken 3 when absolutely desperate.

I exercise, cold water swim and take magnesium, st Johns wort, valerian, VIt D and B12 and Omega 3.

You have to buy a ticket then watch it online as a live webinar, definitely worth it.

Yeah I have listened to all the episodes of 'lets talk withdrawal' and was disappointed that it ended (well it did on podbean I'm not sure it actually did) but then I found mad in america and that podcast may even be better.
