Saturday 7/31/21 (3rd Day in a row no Prozac)

4am Woke up to intense anxiety, no racing thoughts though. Just felt like cortisol spike. Whole body was tingling. Went back to bed and layed down

4am to 7am sleep was all jumbled, had to urinate feeling every 45minutes.

730am just got out of bed and decided to go to the gym and do some light exercise.

8am to 9am @ the gym did light weight lifting, on treadmill, did vigorous walking. Got heart rate slightly elevated.

About 3 times during the workout I would get mind racing thoughts (death, doom, suicidal ideation)

1030am made a healthy breakfast smoothie

1130am to 1215pm took my dogs to a local dog park

Felt slight tingling on my back and shoulders while there.

Head and mind felt very clear, no pressure or racing thoughts

1pm @home took Paxil, no symptoms came about after taking it

2pm ate food

230pm on laptop/internet

3pm tried to take a nap, just layed on the bed closing my eyes but not actually sleeping

4pm @ the movies, had some popcorn and sugar free soda

5pm during the movie I was having slight symptoms of restlessness, anxiety, mind was slightly racing, had to urinate 2 times during the movie.

730pm to 1130pm @home ate dinner, watched tv/olympics

Relaxed at this point (being home watching tv was distracting from sypmtoms)

Felt body was slightly awake and would not fall asleep

12am went to bed, was able to fall asleep with no problems.

@DiscJockey   Sounds like things are settling down.  You are able to spend time with friends, go to the store and park. You are getting some sleep, that is good.

Your symptoms are pretty constant with the rest of us.

Keep putting one foot in front of the other, one day at a time.

You should be proud of yourself, you are stronger then you think and you are weathering the storm.😊

If things get rough for a few days, try not to panic.  You want to stay put for awhile and let your brain settle out some.

Monday 8/2/21 (5th day No Prozac)

12am to 7am Slept through the night and morning, no waking up in the middle of the night with cortisol sypmtom.

5am to 8am. Lying in bed could not fall back asleep. Kept urinating frequently.

830am Got out of bed, got ready for group therapy viz zoom. Did a 10 minute morning meditation to help ease my mind a little

9am to 11am online group session.

1130am went to local dog park with dogs. At the park can feel slight burning shoulders, legs and feet felt noodle like. Felt a bit of anxiety. A small thought of suicide and other dark thoughts.

12pm @ home, on laptop, felt restless even though I was lying down on my bed relaxing.

Drank some calming tea, did not notice any difference in it calming me

1pm took daily dose of Paxil, no effects or symptoms came about after taking it.

2pm ate food, made a smoothie as well

230pm layed in bed to try to take a nap

3pm; actually fell asleep

330pm woke up, felt my body was having a small cortisol spike, mind felt overactive upon waking.

4pm decided to go the gym

5pm @ my gym, did light workout with light dumbells and light cardio.

Felt good to get heart pumping and body moving. I made sure not to push too hard.

Driving home after gym, felt relaxed but also a bit anxious, like my body was going to go in a bad wave.

6pm ate dinner, had protein smoothie.

Showered

7pm did a sleep meditation to help me relax. Could not tell if it helped or not.

8pm to 10pm watched tv.

1030pm to 12am, it felt like I had to urinate every 30mins or so. I keep going to pee while at home watching tv. I think of this as being by body being shocked from the exercise I did earlier at 5pm.

1230am went to bed, was able to fall asleep fast.

Tuesday 8/3/21 (6th day No Prozac)

8am woke up, morning anxiety. Doom terror feeling in my stomach. Felt wide awake but did not feel rested

830am got out of bed, did morning meditation.

9am @ park for fresh air and sunlight.

Can feel whole body ache, feels like whole body was hit. Felt very sore and achey.

There was a spurt of rapid thoughts, some suicidal ideation

10am @home made smoothie for breakfast. Whole body still feels sore achey and detached from my brain.

1030am to 1130am was out an about running errands. While driving I felt real spaced out. While at some stores felt really spaced out.

12pm @home ate food. Then tried to lay down in bed. Just layed down but could not actually sleep.

1pm took Paxil dose, no start up effects

2pm ate light snack. Still feel body slightly achey. Started to feel sick/nauseas.

3pm went to try to nap. Could not fall asleep, physical and mental symptoms were too distracting to fall asleep. I would fall asleep for only 5mins it seemed, every time I would wake up it felt like I was having mini cortisol surges (high anxiety)

5pm ate, then went walking outdoors. While walking felt spaced out. There was a bit of terror doom feeling while walking. Mind slightly raced for about 2minutes while walking back to my car.

6pm back @ home. Light snack, watched a movie/tv

10pm physical symptoms are still there. Another big wave of fear anxiety terror doom came about. I did some deep breathing and try to let it pass. The wave was very strong.

11pm started to have the constant urinating symptom. Even though I was relaxed and watching tv on the couch, I constantly had to get up and pee every 30min or so.

12am went to bed, tossing and turning for about an hour

1am eventually fell asleep.

Hi @Colonialand other moderators.

I know it has not been 24hrs. But today starting this morning I feel my symptoms from stopping the Prozac has gotten worse. It is more physical than mental. I feel really restless, high anxiety, stomach aches, really depersonalized, mind racing, intrusive thoughts. On a good note, after stopping the Prozac the suicidal ideation has been a lot less than on it.

Today will be the 7th day not taking Prozac.

My next appointment with my Kaiser Psych is on the 11th still. I doubt they will give me good advice. I only go through them for medication refills.

The Dr recommended here from Alto will meet me on the 17th still.

My current out of pocket Dr only recommended that after I stop taking the Prozac and if I start to get wds is to add a little bit of Paxil. They said since I am on 8.82mg to take 10mg and see if that helps. Then only increasing it 5mg at a time after that if the Prozac wds persist. Logic behind it is that I am already taking Paxil and that it is in my system. That is the best they can advise they said, since I just came off Lexapro using Prozac, and that the Prozac is not helping.

I am not going to make changes yet but would like any opinions even though my situation is so complicated. I am really going to try and hold on until I see the new Dr that Alto suggested. Then again it is only a consult and the Dr still has to decide if they can help my situation.

I know we also said to try to add Prozac 6 hours after taking Paxil in the day. But I figure if the suicidal ideation is now less than when i was on it, why try adding it in again?

I just really do not know how much of this I can take. But I will just hold here taking my daily Paxil. I think the Prozac is out of my system, but now the wds are coming up.

My current out of pocket Dr only recommended that after I stop taking the Prozac and if I start to get wds is to add a little bit of Paxil. They said since I am on 8.82mg to take 10mg and see if that helps.

I would say NO.

1 extra mg of Paxil from 9 to 10 is hardly changing any brain receptor capacity.

As with the prozac chart below, the lower dosages are doing most of the work.

All that would do is likely make you WORSE because it is another destabilization of your chemistry.

Since your taking liquid you can ignore the first column in this chart.

As you can see, when you were taking 5mg, you were blocking about 62% of your brain.

At 2.5, you are still blocking 48%.

That means your still blocking about 77.42 % of what you were at 5mgs.

If you feel you are at your threshold of suffering and want to see if you can stabilize for a bit at taking 2.5mgs sometime in the evening for a few weeks since you would not be putting more into your system than you are at now, approximately.

Looking at your chart, I think that is your best bet

Last night was the first time you slept 8 hours straight.

Hopefully you would start to stabilize at 2.5 mgs or even just 2.0.

It all depends on what negative symptoms you may get.

Those are really the only 2 options I see.

1. Continue to Cold turkey the rest of it out as your doing, even though your only down 23%  of your dose and may continue to get worse as the other 77% drops out, or:

2. reinstate at 2.0 or 2.5 and as long as you dont get worse, hold for a few months.

Adding any other med and or changing the insignificant about of Paxil is, in my opinion, an high risk and low reward percentage game.

You can take this chart with you to the doctors to show them how these meds don't work in a linear fashion as they think but from the advice they've given, I don't know if you will get a better plan.

Good luck!

Thank you @Colonial

Is there a time frame for when I do decide to reinstate? I am going to try and hold here with just taking the Paxil. I do have a feeling my threshold will not hold long. So I wanted to make sure if and when I do reinstate the Prozac that I am not doing it too late.

If I do decide to hold here, is it possible that the 8mg Paxil I am already taking will help subside the cold turkey wds of the Prozac? By the way I feel now, it does not seem so. That would be a reason for me to stay put if I can handle it. But if not, I will then just try to reinstate 2.0mg Prozac.

And as far as the 8 hour sleep last night. I have to correct that. Since stopping Prozac all nights I am able to fall asleep within 1 hour of laying down. I have recently added black out curtains on my windows to block out light and sun. So that has been helping. But I am having to get up periodically to urinate. So it may seem that I got 8 hours of sleep in, but want to inform you that I wake up periodically. So I feel that I sleep but don't get that deep sleep that I need because I am constantly waking up to pee.

The Prozac is not out of your system yet

The half life is 4 to 6 days.

You are at day 7.

So you are down to at least 50% on the chart,

Or if you are a faster metabolizer, you may be down more

The more days you go without the med, the more it will come out of your system.

The more the wd symptoms will get worse, if they are even from the Prozac.

You've had so many changes it's hard to tell.

No one can say what it will do.

Your in Lexapro withdrawal and an adverse reaction to prozac, in my opinion.

Added to multiple long term destabilizations.

Wednesday 8/4/21 (7th Day no Prozac)

730AM Woke up with extremely anxious. Body felt tingling and hot all over. Terror and doom feeling, mind was racing. Wide awake, body was stiff. Feels like cold turkey withdrawal feeling.

8AM went outside to backyard to get fresh air and to see sunlight. Felt really spaced out, delusional, anxiety. Had a cup of calming tea.

815AM went back to lay down in bed. Wide awake, could not fall back asleep. Tossed and turned, listened to a podcast.

830AM did morning meditation but could not focus while doing it. Mind was constantly thinking, some suicidal ideation.

10AM went to local waterfront and walked my dogs. Body felt so achy and beat up. Walked very lightly and only for a short period of time (30min). Mind was not racing, but felt light and floating.

1040am @ home, body still felt tingling and hot all over. Terror and doom feeling. Pit in my stomach feeling.

11am went to lay in bed to relax. Body feels so sore and achy. I would close my eyes and try to sleep but would then get jolted, and would feel like I was trying to catch my breath.

1pm took Paxil dose, no effect or symptoms came about after taking it.

Just lay in bed with symptoms of hopelessness, forever doom terror feeling, legs and feet felt restless and noodle like.

130PM ate food, made smoothie

Had some relief after eating, meal was clean and healthy. Had a lot of healthy fats (avocado, nuts)

2pm reached out to several people on forums and groups. Chatted via text of my current symptoms.

3pm tried to nap in bed. Was able to fall asleep for about a good 30minutes

340pm woke up from a nap, did not have any cortisol surge.

Surprisingly most of the physical and mental symptoms seemed to be less, as if they disappeared. Felt ok, and ready to do something. Mind was clear and body was only a bit achy and hurting.

430pm went on a light bike ride, made small stops to do body squats, push ups on a bench, tricep dips. Made sure to keep the exercise light and to push.

630pm @ home after shopping and getting groceries. Meal prepped healthy food.

Took shower. Body felt good to get the light exercise in. Mind seemed to calm down a bit.

7pm ate, did some journaling, had calming tea

8pm to 1130pm watched tv. Body felt like it was getting a little ramped up, like some adrenaline was pumping into it. Mind started to feel like it was waking up even though it should be winding down. I felt like my mind and body were going to stay awake.

12am took half tablet on Benadryl. Then went to bed and fell asleep right away.

Thursday 8/5/21 (8th day no Prozac)

8am woke up body felt really achy and sore. There were some slight anxiety/tingling all over, but the aches and soreness took over mostly. When I tried to lay down and go back to rest, body felt awake and ready to move, so could not go back to sleep.

9am got out of bed, took my dogs to a dog park. Symptoms of restlessness, legs felt noodle like. Slight mind racing "is this forever, i am too ill to do anything, im scared, etc"

0940am @home from park, did some meditation, sent a couple emails out on laptop, made a breakfast smoothie.

1030 went over to my best friends house to help repair a car. Went so I can distract myself from all the symptoms. Just made sure that I did not do any heavy lifting or anything strenuous.

1130am went to couple stores with best friend to get tools/supplies.

Symptoms of being spaced out, not present, had slight mind racing. While conversing with others I was just nodding and pretend laughing. Felt delusional while at the store or riding in a car looking out the window.

1230PM @ friends house working on car.

1pm took Paxil no effects or symptoms after taking it

2pm ate food.

3pm to 5pm continued to help on car. Body felt really tired and nauseated. Body sometimes felt like it was going to collapse. There were times I would get a slight rush of panic or anxiety come over me. Sometimes my mind would race but it would last for about 15minutes (I used my I watch timer now)

6pm ate food, symptoms at this point are still the same as 3pm to 5pm but only slightly less intense. I was mostly sleepy at this time. I just wanted to crawl into bed and sleep but could not since I was at my friends helping. I could of told him and he would of been ok with it, but I just kept on helping.

7pm SMALL WINDOW, only lasted about 10minutes. It felt like my mood became upbeat, body less tired, was happy and excited. But I think it was only because my friend made a really funny joke that snapped me out of it for a bit.

8pm @home ate, drank some calming tea, winding down for the evening, sat on couch watching tv and on my laptop

9pm to 10pm symptoms seem less severe than 3 to 5pm symptoms. Body felt relaxed and ready to crash/fall asleep.

11pm urge to urinate symptom came. I had to urinate every 20minutes. I would urinate go sit lay on the couch, then felt to urinate again, as if my bladder was full. When i would urinate I would only let out a little bit and not a lot. It is strange.

1230am turned off the tv and went to bed. Fell asleep real quick.

Friday 8/6/21 (9th Day no Prozac)

0730am Woke up with terror/doom/anxiety. Body felt stiff. Mind was only slightly racing with intrusive thoughts.

0800am got out of bed, meditated, drank water.

0900am went out to a park for a walk. Felt spaced out, non existent, fearful of my symptoms. Legs were very weak and noodle like.

10am @ home, went on laptop, emailed, drank some calming tea

11am went an did a couple errands around town.

Felt spaced out driving. Mind was not all there. Body felt slight achy and nauseated.

1pm back @ home took Paxil dose, no effects or symptoms from taking it.

2pm ate food. Tried to take a nap. Could not fall asleep. Just tossed and turned.

3pm was able to fall asleep for about 20min.

Woke up with shortness of breath. Like I was choking, was panicked for a bit. Mind and brain were throbbing and being in sync with my heartbeat

Just layed in bed and waited for it to subside

430pm got out of bed, ate

5pm drank some calming tea. Mind felt real foggy. Could not remember certain things, was really freaking me out.

6pm listened to calming music on headphones. Helped distract me from symptoms

7pm to 10pm sate on couch on laptop and watched television. Brain is still foggy, mind was calmed.

9pm to 930pm mind started racing really bad. Suicidal ideation. Was really scared.

11pm had urges to urinate every 30minutes. Felt like my bladder was full and ready to explode every 30minutes. Very aggravating symptom.

1230am went a lay down in bed, fell asleep in 10minutes.

Sat 8/7/21 (10th Day No Prozac)

0730am woke up with slight anxiety terror doom feeling. Attempted to go back to sleep.

Just tossed and turned.

8am woke up, meditated, made smoothie, drank some calming tea

9am to 10am did various house chores, cooking, cleaning, laundry.

No symptoms when I am busy doing something

11am to 12pm went out to park and walked with my dogs. Sunshine and nice weather helped.

Still had slight symptoms of back tingling, legs feeling weak and noodle like, spaced out.

1pm @home took Paxil dose, no start up effects or symptoms after taking it.

2pm ate food, tried to lay down on couch and nap. Mind and body felt wide awake and tired at the same time. Could not sleep.

3pm on my bed on laptop. Was able to fall asleep for about 15minutes.

Woke up with me catching my breath, sent me into a small panic. Was able to calm down and still lay in bed.

430pm head and mind felt real foggy. I was trying to listen to new music but could not. Only listened for about 10minutes, music was too activating for my brain.

5pm drank some calming tea.

6pm ate. Mind felt foggy and real spaced out. Layed on couch while having meditation music play on my phone to relax me.

7pm watched tv

9pm to 930 pm mind and brain were thinking rapidly, started having intense suicidal ideation, doom thoughts, made me get so anxious and scared of the thoughts.

10pm made a smoothie as a meal replacement, was not hungry.

10pm to 12pm just watched tv

1230am went to bed, fell asleep right away.

Jan 2012 started 50mg Zoloft for mild depression.        2014 increased Zoloft to 100mg

@DiscJockey  Your doing a great job,  you should be proud of yourself☺️  10 days off Prozac Yeah!    Even with when you are feeling pretty rough you have trying to stay busy.  Looks like you have friends that are supportive, that is going to be a big help for you as you heal.  Remember you have a lot of support here too.

I can certainly relate to all the different W/D  symptoms, yes some of them can feel overwhelming and quite scary at times.  🤪

Are you able to acknowledge your thoughts, not engage with them and redirect yourself...I see you are meditating, that will help.

Have you had a chance to look at the Symptoms & Self-Care forum?  There is a lot of information on many different symptoms and helpful coping skill that other members have shared.

Unless you want to keep a daily record for your own reasons, you can stop posting it here, @DiscJockey

That you can work out, etc. indicates your current state of withdrawal syndrome is mild, and your symptom pattern seems to be fading.

We're not going to advise you on any more drug changes. There are too many cooks in this kitchen, most prominently 2 psychiatrists (and soon to be a third), whose advice you have shown you prefer to follow.

That is fine, but there's no role for peer support in your treatment plan. I fear we have been enabling your health anxiety by asking you to report daily symptoms, and there's no need for the staff to review them. Please discuss them with your doctors.

This is not medical advice. Discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical practitioner.

Hi @Gratefulthank you for reaching out. I am hanging in there like most of us here. Been trying to stay off the internet, forums and focus on stabilizing. Its been tough. I have an appt with a well known tapering dr recommended here from this site. I am hoping this dr will be able to take me as a new patient and help me. All my previous drs have failed me and left me in a really bad shape. This is the first time I have been getting suicidal ideation, which is scary to me.

Thanks for the check in, sorry if I dont reply right away, just trying to get through day by day minute by minute. I will keep you posted. Hope all is well for you at the moment.

No worries,  I just wanted to see how you were doing.  This is a tough road to travel and one we should never feel alone on.

That is all any of us can do, for that is all we have, the minute we are in and the day we are in.

This is were mindfulness comes into play.  Stay in the moment, for that is what is real at the time.

Hang in there

I will check by soon.

@DiscJockey  Thank you so much for stopping by my thread and the words of encouragement.

How did the rest of your trip go?

You should be very proud of yourself for going, I now how much of a struggle it is to be in WD but add on not being in your safe space and being around  activity😵 Recipe for disaster, well you know how it turned out for me🥴 I am feeling a little better this evening.

Are you still holding at no Prozac and low dose of Paxil?

Hang in there, you are doing awesome😚

hi @DiscJockey, checking in to see how you're doing. Looks like. you haven't been on in awhile, hopefully it's because you are taking care of yourself. I hope you are feeling better.

Zoloft 100mg - June 2015-April 2018 - 2 month taper, had extreme antsiness (different from my normal anxiety) previously said 25mg, was wrong

Xanax 0.25-0.5mg - Aug 2018- Dec 2020 - Rarely took, probably less than every other month. Over 2020 holidays took 0.5mg 5-6times

Escitalopram 10mg - Aug 2018 - Nov 2020 - tapered over 5 months:

June 25 2020 - Aug 14 2020 - Can't remember what I did but assuming it was 5mg this whole time.

Aug 14 2020 - Oct 24th 2020?? - 2.5mg for awhile, then every 27 hrs. Kept trying to extend length of hrs, up to 36. This is where symptoms got bad but I was able to tolerate as it was more fatigue and irritability.

Oct 25 2020 - mid Nov 2020 - 1.25mg every 24-36 hours, then ct. These are estimates because I was cutting the pills and this is 1/8 of 10mg but by now, it was dust. Tried just having the dust toward the end.

Dec 27 2020 major crying spells and depressive, empty/hopeless feeling dead thoughts. Had a couple ok days, a couple really bad ones a week out.

Reinstated liquid Escitalopram 0.15mg - Jan 12 2021  -  Mar 5 2021 - 0.14mg. Mar 16 2021 - 2.5mg. Mar 17 2021 - 5mg. May 21 2021 - 4.8mg. May 28 2021 4.6mg. Jun 9 2021 4.5mg. Jul 7 4mg.
