How are you feeling, Bea? Please do not make a change until your symptoms have stabilized.

How are you planning to reduce from 20mg fluoxetine? If I were you, I would not jump to 10mg. You have been taking 20mg since mid-February, is that correct? That is long enough to become adapted to it. You may be at risk for withdrawal symptoms if you make a big change.

If I were you, I'd consider reducing by 2mg or 10%. See Tips for tapering off Prozac (fluoxetine)

Are you still taking clonazepam? How often, at what dosages?

Bea, please re-read this topic.

Are you feeling better each day?

You reduced to 20mg on April 9, correct? Your blood level of Prozac is still declining.

Are you feeling better on 10mg Prozac or not?

Yes, autonomic dysfunction such as POTS is very common in psychiatric drug withdrawal. Knowing you have POTS does not change how you cope with symptoms. There are no definite treatments for autonomic dysfunction; quite often, antidepressants are prescribed to see if they help.

Autonomic dysfunction can come and go, this includes POTS. As you've been told repeatedly, withdrawal symptoms come and go and gradually go away in time. You need to cope with symptoms as your nervous system settles down.

Thank @Altostratathank you for asking Alto!

My cognition Is 100% back i think.

Emotions are gone. Never came back and i feel numb. Physical symptoms are the same. I was very toned before and now im all saggy. Lack of sensitivity Is the same, i cant feel all around my body. I have postural shaking i think from weakness. My head hurts every day because of the loss of muscles on my cervical spine so It Is very unstable.

The only thing that improved so far Is the acathisia which Is gone and cognition. I havent tried to play the piano again since all this started so i dont know If i can still play or not.

The vision Is ok apart from the nocturnal One. During the night i see Shadows moving all the time with closed eyes and also open. When in the dark i look at something bright there Is like a black spot that covers It so i Need to move my sight and not see It directly. If i look at It directly i dont see It. Libido Is gone and never came back.

I try to not think about It All day. If i think about my phisical changing i get really depressed. Another thing i noticed Is that i dont get drunk anymore. I know i shouldnt drink alchol during Withrawal but i tried twice and it's like drinking water. I used to get Dizzy from It vey easily. I found that strange.

Sorry for the long and messed up message but I Just woke up

Have a nice day!

Good to hear you're feeling somewhat better.

Are you still taking 10mg Prozac? Is your signature up to date?

Please don't drink alcohol. You may not feel it right away but it can add to the neurological chaos.

Smoking cigarettes at the beginning of Withrawal made It worse. Ill stop with the alchol. Im off prozac. I was tapering slowly and the tinnitus was so bad i couldnt cope. I stopped and i felt like before the Prozac. The damage i have Is All induced by the amytriptiline, Prozac added me tinnitus and brain fog but faded when i tapered and stopped when I stopped It. Im updating the signature, thank you @Altostrata

@Altostratai had no difference in my symptoms with the prozac. The only thing Is that on Prozac i had tinnitus and i was sensitive to light and noises. But i tapered and stopped and the issues i had because of Amytriptiline are still there. I have listed them a couple of messages ago :( they never changed apart from cognition that Is back and acathisia that Is gone.

thank you for asking :)

Hello, can i share my experience with TCA?

Everyone here took ssri so It Is difficult to me to understand what happened to me. I took amytriptiline for tension headache from 2nd of january to 12th of january. I took only 6 mg which Is 3 drops of liquid. I started to have fasciculations so why i stopped. 3 days After i stopped i experienced burning all over my body, tremors and i started to become saggy and ive Lost 12 kgs of muscles. My Heart beat less intense. Ive done the tilt test and i resulted with POTS and syncope. I think It Is related to the cholinergic rebound tha has damaged my nervous fibers (the sympathetic ones).

Im very hopeless,

@Gridleywhat do you think?

Please help

Bea, I', answering your question here on your own thread.

You had an adverse reaction to the Amitriptyline, which means that the the drug is poison to your system.  You can have an adverse reaction to a tricyclic antidepressant just as you can to an SSRI.  Your body tried to get rid of the poison and in so doing threw your system into chaos.  Adverse reactions can occur with a small dose and even from one day's dose.

The symptoms of an adverse reaction are similar to those of withdrawal.  The good news is that the damage is not permanent and that you will heal.  Unfortunately, there is no way to predict how long the healing process will take.  But you will heal.

Hello, I found your posts after doing a search on “cholinergic rebound”.  How are you doing?

I am so sorry you have had this experience.  I also had severe side effects while going through withdrawal from amitriptyline and believe I went through a cholinergic rebound.   (This was actually suggested by a psychiatrist I saw.)   I had to start taking the drug again and am now tapering down slowly.

Just wanted to say you are not alone.  I have different physical symptoms but also lost a lot of weight.  I hope you are doing as well as can be and are taking good care of your mind and body.  All the best ...

Started .25 mg. clonazapam Oct. 2016

Started 10 mg. Celexa Dec. 2016

Started 10 mg. amitriptyline January 2017

Also took 60 mg. Dexilant Oct. 2016 through April 2017, successfully tapered off

Stopped Celexa successfully Oct. 2017

Fast taper of amitriptyline Dec. 2017, had major WD symptoms and reinstated at 10 mg. Jan. 2018

Slow amitryptyline taper started Mar. 2019, reduced from 10 mg. to 0.93 mg. currently

Also still taking .25 mg. clonazapam daily in late evening

Very interesting.  I sympathise with you greatly. After taking Luvox for only 4 weeks all the muscles in my body just wasted away. 18 months later, the situation has improved, but my muscles are still pudgy and bloated and I feel depressed about how I look and feel now. I recently went to a muscle neurologist and had nerve conduction testing, blood tests and an MRI. Apparently, everything is normal! It's so frustrating that these sorts of things can happen and then you can't get any answers! See my before and after pics.
