Then little less little slower. You're now on 17mg pill weight (which reads out on your scale as 0.017 grams, but it's better to think in terms of milligrams). We recommend tapering no faster that 10% of current dose every four weeks. You will do fine tapering 1mg pill weight every 4 to 6 weeks until you get down to 10mg pill weight, because that will be no more than 10%. Once you get down below 10mg pill weight, because you can decrease on the scale only in 1mg pill weight amounts, you'll be going faster than 10% when you drop from 9mg to 8mg, etc. At that point it would be a good idea to hold for longer. Moderator brassmonkey Posted June 18, 2020 Moderator Share Posted June 18, 2020 Hi BMI-- you asked for specific information on dosing over on the Brassmonkey Slide Method of Microtapering thread. It would be best to discuss it here so you have the information where it is easily available. Before I can do the calculations I need to know which medication you wish to taper. It is best to only taper one at a time. I will also need to know the weight of the dose you are currently taking as shown on the scales. If you can get it I could really use the weight of a whole tablet and the strength as listed on the package. Once I get that we can run some numbers and get you all set up. 20 years on Paxil starting at 20mg and working up to 40mg. Sept 2011 started 10% every 6 weeks taper (2.5% every week for 4 weeks then hold for 2 additional weeks), currently at 7.9mg. Oct 2011 CTed 15oz vodka a night, to only drinking 2 beers most nights, totally sober Feb 2013. Since I wrote this I have continued to decrease my dose by 10% every 6 weeks (2.5% every week for 4 weeks and then hold for an additional 2 weeks). I added in an extra 6 week hold when I hit 10mg to let things settle out even more. When I hit 3mgpw it became hard to split the drop into 4 parts so I switched to dropping 1mgpw (pill weight) every week for 3 weeks and then holding for another 3 weeks. The 3 + 3 schedule turned out to be too harsh so I cut back to dropping 1mgpw every 4 weeks which is working better. Final Dose 0.016mg. Moderator brassmonkey Posted August 20, 2020 Moderator Share Posted August 20, 2020 I'm reposting my answer to your pm here so you will have a better record of it. To calculate a 2.5% reduction you multiply the current weight of your dose by 0.975. That will give the weight of your new dose. For the next reduction you multiply that weight by 0.975 to get the next one. And so on. The scales we use have trouble weighing doses smaller than 4 milligrams pill weight. I used a 4mg pile of powder and visually divided in into 1/4s. I took 3 piles then 2 piles then 1 pile. Nest I again divided the last 1 pile into 1/4s and did it again. You may want to consider switching to a homemade liquid when you get to 4 milligrams pill weight. You would have much greater control over the strength of each dose. 20 years on Paxil starting at 20mg and working up to 40mg. Moderator Emeritus manymoretodays Posted August 30, 2020 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted August 30, 2020 (edited) Hello bmi, @bmi197143 This is your introduction page. Absolutely the best spot for your questions, around your specifics. Please don't start any new ones. Then go to the link for signatures and follow those instructions. 2 hours ago, bmi197143 said: Am at .012 Amitriptyline Is this the weight of your Amitriptyline crushed powder? Are you tapering just the Amitriptyline right now? When did you last taper the Amitriptyline? From what weight? Are you experiencing any WD(withdrawal) symptoms now, and if so of what type? Giving us a bit more information will really help us to help you further. Generally the rule of thumb is to round up if your final number is greater than .0005(I'm just going by a weight that would be beyond your scales capacity) and down if it is below that. The final number is found by multiplying your present weight by the percentage that you wish to decrease by. I can see that brassmonkey posted about how to calculate a 2.5 % taper and if you are not doing a brassmonkey slide method of tapering and are just doing a 10% taper every 4-6 weeks, then you multiply your present weight of Amytriptiline by .90. For now bmi, please just HOLD, until we get your information sorted out again, with your help. On 6/4/2020 at 8:01 PM, brassmonkey said: @AltostrataIf BMI is currently taking a dose of Amitriptyline that weighs 0.017g on the scales it would have a strength of 3.4mgai (milligrams active ingredient.) This is much too high to consider making the jump to "0". Your actual dose of Amitriptyline is still pretty high. So please be patient with yourself and your tapering. There is no reward for tapering too quickly, in fact sometimes it leads to a lengthier time until your nervous system fully adapts to being without the drug(receptors and all that). Do you have the average weight of a 5 mg(dose strength) Amitriptyline? That would help us to, in helping you with further calculations and suggestions. Which is better here, right here, in a post on your introduction section(page). @bmi197143 Present drugs and times: 7 am Losartan(BP-blood pressure med) 100 mg 9 am Alprazolam .025mg 3 pm Alprazolam .025 mg 5 pm Amitriptyline 2.4 mgai(mmt's best estimate based on 3.4 mgai equivalent to .017 on scale) Ropinerole .010 (?? weight or dose) 9 pm Alprazolam .050 mg On 6/4/2020 at 5:57 PM, bmi197143 said: Still have to get off the Ropinerole. Pill weight is .204 dosage is 25 mg am currently taking 0.030. Okay.....so 25 mg weighs .204 on your scale and you've reduced all the way to .030 in weight. I've just got to say you may be/ARE going way to fast! Have you seen this: Why taper by 10% of my dosage? bmi, It looks like you've been doing some dual drug tapering since May. And a bit of fast tapering on the Amitriptyline, as well as the Ropinerole. So.......again.......just HOLD, for now. You have been going really fast without much input. How is the RLS now? To get an idea of WD(withdrawal symptoms) you can look at this and see what fits, perhaps what wasn't there prior to a year ago, when you first started medication for post concussive nerve pain. When was the concussion? bmi197143
Still going So I joined a couple more withdrawal forums. From what I have learned here from all the moderators and survivors I Am passing down all that knowledge. However administers and moderators of these other sites seem to think they are gods or super heroes. It appears they get this big ego because people come to them in dire need of help or advice it goes to their head. This is sad. I got a taking to for helping people with knowledge I learned from this site sad. This site is the best ever best everything. All here have walked through the fire.
