hello @Altostrata hope your doing well, i was just watching a youtube podcast which you were discussing protracted withdrawal from anti depressants, it was very informative and i learnt alot

Is this still on YouTube and do you have a link? I would like for my son to watch it.

My son who is in withdrawal's history:

2006 - 2021 Started on Celexa 10mg, increased to 20mg then 40mg.

May 2021: Started to taper off. Down to 0mg by end of July under doctor's care.

September 2021 started 200mg magnesium twice per day, 1000mg fish oil once per day, Vitamin D3, and 100mg N-acetyl cysteine twice per day.

Oct. 12, 2021: Reinstated at 1mg liquid Celexa per day to hopefully alleviate intrusive thoughts (never had them before quitting Celexa).

Nov. 1, 2021: Was supposed to increase to 2mg Celexa per day, but he was accidentally only taking 0.1ml per day.

Nov. 18, 2021: Increased to 2mg liquid Celexa per day after realizing he was not taking the correct dosage for 17 days.

Dec 29, 2021: Increased to 3mg liquid Celexa. Jan 31, 2022: Increased to 4mg liquid Celexa.

I cannot answer your question about whether taking milk thistle will affect the amount of Zyprexa dose.

If you do decide to try milk thistle I suggest that you start with a very small amount and gradually increase it.

Also DO NOT make any other changes at the same time.  For instance you would not decrease or increase your Zyprexa, stop/start/increase anything else that you are taking.

It would be a good idea to keep notes for yourself of how it is affecting you / your symptoms.

hello if there is one out there who is wondering how my tapering is going....for 4 years i was travelling extremely bad with my tapering...i was going through hell...i was going through extreme mood swings from anger to depression....i was having extreme burning hot sweats and constant urinations...every time i made a change with my medication...i was having extreme joint pain in my feet that was continous for 4 years...daily dry eyes and end the end head aches due to the stress behind my eye balls...as i wasnt coping i continued to drink red wine daily...i was constantly craving food and alcohol...i put on 20 kilos while i have been tapering....basically i was in torture....about 5 to 6 weeks ago i began the Keto Diet and fasting only eating between a 4 to 6hr eating window a day....i have lost 4kilos so far....4 days ago i decided to go further and do the carnivore diet with only 1 meal a day....my pain in my feet have gone...finally after 4 years, the sores on my face have finally healed after 4 years, the cod liver oil i take takes away my dry eyes...i no longer think of food constantly and have no interest in drinking any alcohol....i feel so in control finally of my tapering and it basically isnt an issue for me...my anger and mood swings have disappeared and i feel cool, calm and collected....its i guess strange to say...but i feel like i am medicated again on large doses of zyprexa...just no anxiety....or feel good!...and i feel like i am coping with my tapering with very little effort....there is a youtube channel with a guy called bipolar_carnivore......he was on meds since 6 years of age,...he is doing really well with no symptoms and is off his meds after 10years....please look up Keto diet youtube channels by Doctors who say it helps with mood and mental health problems...i can honestly say it works....and has helped me immensely.....

Hi @Rrsfc thankyou for responding...i tried so hard on the plant based diet....but it just didnt help me...i actually became worse on it....constantly hungry and thinking of food...constantly bloated...mood swings....i ate too much pasta and too much Indian food...and once i started the carbs...i couldnt stop and the constant need to drink water just washed away any nutrients i did take in...and the constant burning hot sweats and constant urination and just kept wanting more sugar(carb) from the alcohol...and still never felt satisfied....now i do! and my symptoms are nearly 90% gone....brain fog is gone.....i just feel so alert and my memory is getting better...i feel more with it...i naturally feel good!....i have loads of energy and do not have that afternoon slump...that i was soo use it...and just needed to sleep.....i can work 9.5hrs straight psychical cleaning work in one day without a coffee break...i no longer need to get my legs and feet massaged every week as they feel no pain!...still no deep sleep yet...but i do go into dream state sleep and  wake up feeling i can do a 3 hr cleaning job the next day and not need to try and sleep in the arvo...which is a positive...i really feel good and this has only started since the Keto diet 5 to 6 weeks ago and still feeling good the whole time! it cannot be a window because i have only felt this way since beginning the Keto diet so it must be because of that!....i think its amazing how i can taper 0.02mls a week and feel so stable in mood...before Keto just reducing by 0.01ml a week killed me!...i am just glad i found what worked for me...and i actually feel i am starting to heal and moving in a positive direction for the first time in 4 years!....its amazing how what you consume can affect your mind sooo much...as they say if your gut is healthy your mind is too...that statement is so true....thankyou for thinking of me Rrsfc and hope your doing well too on your journey...cheers

This is really good news.  It might be that your liver is starting to work better and therefore processing the drug differently than it was before.

yes @ChessieCat, i think my liver is working better....but only since taking the digestive enzymes and bile salts....for the past 4 years ...sorry for talking about stools...but they are very important....they were very pale and always floating which is a bad sign.(pancreatitis)..since changing my diet and adding these supplements, i no longer get reflux pain...and my stools look really good...also i drink 2x cups of Kale drink every night before bed...i think this is also really good for my liver...6 months ago i was told i was low on iron...as i ate very little meat....and i had high liver enzymes and high colestrol....in 3 months time i will have my checks again and hopefully see an improvement in my liver...i did see a dietitian 2 weeks ago and the fat around my organs had dropped by 13cm....which is a good sign also....cheers

I've been doing a carnivore diet to assist my fluoxetine tapering for almost 3 months now.

It helped me taper off relatively fast without big side effects, but then a few weeks ago my cortisol spiked out of control and hasn't stabilized since. I am being forced to reinstate.

happy for @morgana anyways, I hope you keep improving.

hi @goggins, i know when my cortisol levels are rising i have hot sweats and constant urination...while i was on the healthy keto diet..i didnt experience any of these symptoms. However 4 days ago i started the carnivore and have had hot sweats a couple of times now...so i know my cortisol levels have increased while doing carnivore...i think we may need to add some leafy greens and veggies until cortisol stabilizes would rather do that than increase meds..there is a youtube channel for Dr Eric Berg he shows you how to do the healthy Keto diet...i had no problems with cortisol while doing Keto which i was on it for about 5 weeks...cheers...keep me posted...

Hi @morgana I didn't see the comment you wrote for me, just saw it today. Like I said before I am really happy for you, you were having so much trouble before... We are all different and we must find what works for us... I'm doing well, no more tapering for me, I seem to have huge crisis whenever I get bellow 2,5mg olanzapine so I will stay there forever. I had an awful crisis this years in May while I was tapering, but I recovered and I am back on track. In the beginning of September I'll be on my usual dosage of olanzapine and it will all be over if I am lucky (I had to go up to a huge dosage). I am not really that sad not being able to get off the meds. I hate tapering and I don't have to do that anymore, no more withdrawal... So it's not that bad. I wish you continue to do well, congratulations on getting better, it was due to your effords. 👏👏 What we eat is incredibly important to out health...

i understand where your coming from @Rrsfc, i dont like tapering either....it is an extremely slow process, that feels never ending...it takes so much out of you....and you wonder if the pain you go through is really worth it....its been the hardest thing in my life to deal with...and have on many times wondered..is it really worth it!...but something deep inside say's i have come this far...i cannot give up now...and so i continue on this long drawn out process of hoping i will one day feel good again....that is how i feel and yes we are all different...what feels right to you, is right for you and only you...just what i do is only right for me....and we must follow only our own paths...i wish you all the best and know i genuinely hope only the good for you...warm wishes morgana

I worked this out to be you are taking 7.94mL = 0.9925mg so your total dose is  2.245mg.

Please double check that this is correct.

My calculations:

10mL - 2.06mL = 7.94mL    this is approx what you take in liquid

1.25mg : 10mL

divide both sides by 10

0.125mg : 1mL

You take 7.94mL of liquid so you multiply both sides by 7.94mL

0.9925mg : 7.94mL

Add liquid 0.9925mg to tablet 1.25mg = 2.2425mg

just wondering if someone might have a theory as to why this is happening...

i found it extremely difficult changing over from solid to water method but persevered and looking back my burning hot sweats began around that time...i went through horrible withdrawal symptoms...i am doing alot better now...but have noticed when i swallow half a tablet my body doesnt react however when i take the diluted 1.25 tablet in 10mls of water and swallow, my body reacts really badly within seconds of taking it..my body starts sweating profusely and i feel burning hot needles all over my body...this lasts approx 5 minutes until my body calms down...it happens every night when i take my medication....

i have just ordered a weighing machine and might start weighing and just shaving the tablet and swallowing the tablet...in order to stop the reaction of the water method..

has anyone ever had a bad reaction to taking zyprexa in this method?

also as i have been taking it in a liquid form for a couple of years now...would going back to solid have a negative affect on me or do i need to do it gradually over time?

any advice or information would be greatly appreciated

cheers morgana

That's a drag, Morgana.

Seems like a small amount of water to titrate into.

Have you tried putting the 2.5mg tab into 25ml instead?  Might be more comfortable and certainly makes the maths straightforward.

Also how accurate can you be when halving the solid tablet?  I never found tablet cutting workable below 5mg because the daily variations become unbearable, and I was still aware of them above 5mg.  Minute differences in quantity can be the difference between bad days and ok weeks.

If you are really sure you are getting even amounts in your half tabs, why not try dissolving the half tablet in 25ml instead.  (Maths wise you are just working with a factor of 2 then, easier than your 1.25:1)

I found the amount of water I used tended to change the effect.  I always got past the difference in a day or two but I can see on here a lot of people like yourself can be much more sensitive to it.

I found using more liquid produced a subjectively milder effect.

hello @ChessieCat i would ask Hayduke but i think he has gone for awhile...are you able to give me some advice...i am currently using 10mls of water and diluting 1.25mg tablet into it and withdrawing 3mls of liquid...Hayduke suggested adding more water to it...i am assuming it makes it alot weaker...does that mean it will have the same affect on me...or will i be cutting the amount of zyprexa i am getting into my body therefore it would be like doing a big taper jump?

if i use 15mls of water and continue withdrawing 3mls of the liquid will this be the same amount of zyprexa i am withdrawing or do i need to increase the 3mls inorder to have the same calculations (ie i am getting the same amount of drug into my system)...if so if not 3mls what would it be...any advice would be most appreciated..cheers morgana

Hey Morgana, hope you're doing a bit better.

The total dose is the same, it might just feel subjectively different.  I played with this quite a lot along the way.

Why not try making your normal mixture, then gradually adding a bit more water to the final mix on different days to dilute and see if it feels like an improvement?

Think of it maybe like a gin and tonic in a tall glass vs a tumbler.  Both have the same amount of alcohol, the tall glass just adds more water.

If you make your normal dose in a tumbler, then pour it into a tall glass and top up with tonic water, that's the idea.

thanks for replying @hayduke, i bought a scale and basically it was a piece of crap that couldnt even weigh properly for calibration let alone the actual tablet...so decided to stick with liquid...so i will do that from now on add some more water.....see how that goes...maybe it will take the edge off...cheers thankyou
