Heather2080
I’ve been on antidepressants for 25 years. Recently started Latuda and weaned off Trintellix over a month while starting Latuda. (Trintellix 20mg daily decreased by 15mg for 7 days, 10mg for 7 days, then 5mg for 7 days) After being on Latuda for almost a month (Latuda 20 mg for 7days, 40mg for 7 days, 60mg for 3 days. A lot of restlessness on 60mg so dose decreased to 40mg. Felt great for about 6 days then suddenly got extreme restlessness and felt like I was going crazy. My doctor had me stop Latuda immediately. Now after 2 days I’m on no antidepressants or antipsychotic medication. I am feeling foggy but okay. Is it possible I could get off antidepressants? Is it possible after all these years? I wouldn’t know. I’ve never been off them. I’ve taken almost every SSRI OR SNRI on the market. I really don’t know what’s happening in this interim. I have an appointment tomorrow and really don’t know if going back on meds is the right thing or the dire thing to do. I hope this makes sense. *want to add that PMS is the time I feel my moods are completely unstable. First time posting on a forum. Thank you. Link to comment
Moderator Emeritus Gridley Posted September 9, 2020 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted September 9, 2020 Welcome to SAHeather2080. To give members the best information, we ask them to summarize their medication history in a signature -- drugs, doses, dates, and discontinuations & reinstatements, in the last 12-24 months particularly. A list format is best. Yours can look something like this: On antidepressants since 1995, including (list as many as you can remember) DATE? Weaned off over Trintillex over a month while starting Latuda (Trintillex 20mg decreased by 15mg for 7 days, 10mg for 7 days, 5mg for 7 days) (Latuda 20mg for 7 days, 40mg for 7 days, 60mg for 3 days) DATE? Some people (the percentage is unknown) seem to be able to get off these drugs with minimal withdrawal symptoms while others (again, the percentage is unknown) suffer for sometimes a lengthy period. We can hope for the best. What is withdrawal syndrome. Regarding going on another drug, we're a site for going off psychiatric drugs and so don't recommend going on a new drug. If you decide to go on a new drug, that would need to be a decision between you and your doctor. Instead of drugs, we recommend using non-drug methods to cope. Take a look at the links in the following link and see which you think may be helpful to you. Non-drug techniques to cope We don't recommend a lot of supplements on SA, as many members report being sensitive to them due to our over-reactive nervous systems, but two supplements that we do recommend are magnesium and omega 3 (fish oil). Many people find these to be calming to the nervous system. Magnesium, nature's calcium channel blocker Omega-3 fatty acids (fish oil) Add in one at a time and at a low dose in case you do experience problems. This is your Introduction topic, where you can ask questions and connect with other members. We're glad you found your way here. Gridley Introduction Lexapro 20 mg since 2004.
