Welcome to SA, Doco.

Please translate your posts using Google translate.

To give members the best information, we ask them to summarize their medication history in a signature -- drugs, doses, dates, and discontinuations & reinstatements, in the last 12-24 months particularly.  Please include your tapering history with dates of Depakin, Wellbutrin and Xanax.  Also include the answers to these questions: What type of Wellbutrin are you taking, immediate release or extended release?  Does "80 - 60 - 40 from March to September" mean you tapered all three drugs during this period?  Please include the rate at which you tapered these drugs.  How often do you take the Xanax.  Use this link and press "save" when you're finished.

Account Settings – Create or Edit a signature.

We recommend tapering by no more than 10% of your current dose every 4 weeks.

Why taper by 10% of my dosage?

We also recommend tapering only one drug at a time.  Otherwise if there are problems, you won't know the cause.  We recommend tapering the more activating (stimulating) drugs first, leaving the more sedating drugs to taper later.

Taking multiple psych drugs? Which drug to taper first?

We don't recommend a lot of supplements on SA, as many members report being sensitive to them due to our over-reactive nervous systems, but two supplements that we do recommend are magnesium and omega 3 (fish oil). Many people find these to be calming to the nervous system.

Magnesium, nature's calcium channel blocker

Omega-3 fatty acids (fish oil)

Add in one at a time and at a low dose in case you do experience problems.

Once you've completed your drug signature and answered my questions, we'll be in a better position to help you.

Regarding your age, we have a number of members your age and older who are successfully tapering off their psychiatric drugs.

This is your Introduction topic, where you can ask questions and connect with other members.  We're glad you found your way here.

Preciso meglio: con il Wellbutrin ho iniziato prima con 150-80-60mg.,6 mesi+1+1 per un totale di 8mesi,poi per altri 8 mesi con 80-60-40.More precise: with Wellbutrin I started first with 150-80-60mg., 6 months 1 1 for a total of 8 months, then for another 8 months with 80-60-40.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand your taper.  Please answer each question separately.

1. What date did did you reduce from 150 to 80?

2. What date did you reduce from 80 to 60?

3. You tapered from 150 to 60 over a six month time period.  Is that correct?

4. What does "6 months 1 1 for a total of 8 months" mean?

5. What does "then for another eight months with 80-60-40" mean?  Is this an additional taper?  Did you increase from 60 to 80 then back down to 60?

6. Is your current dose 40mg?

7.  What form of Wellbutrin are you taking, immediate release or extended release?

I tried to be more precise in the chronological reconstruction of my clinical case which concerns for simplicity from 2015 to date, since we eliminated DEPAKIN and I was left only with Wellbutrin plus Sanax as needed.  From December '15 to June '16 mg.  40 as the last phase of reduction; then suspension in agreement with the specialist; from December '16 to January '17 mg.  40; from February to September '17 mg.  80; October '17 mg.  40; other suspension agreed; from March to August '18 mg.  60; from September to December '18 mg.  150; January '19 mg.  60;  February 19 mg.  40; suspension for 2 months; from May 19 to September mg.  150; October mg.  80; November mg.  40; December '19 mg.  40; January 2020 mg.  40; suspension;  September 2020 mg.  150 because in crisis once again!  Thank you very much.

@Doco

I have constructed your taper history to be best of my ability.  Please check it and correct any errors and be sure to answer my questions?  VERY IMPORTANT:  Make corrections and answer questions using my list.  Do not start a new list.  Use my list.    Pick up my list, put it down in your next post and make changes and answer my questions here in my list.

Dec. 2015 to June 2016 40mg as the last phase of reduction of Wellbutrin modified release (XR)

Dec. 2016 to Jan. 2017  40mg

Feb. 2017 to Sept. 2017 80mg

Oct. 2017 40mg

QUESTION: What does "other suspension agreed" mean? What is a "suspension"? Does it mean you stopped taking the Wellbutrin?

QUESTION: Did you not take any Wellbutrin from Nov. 2017 to March 2018?

March 2018 to August 2018 60mg

Sept. 2018 to Dec. 2018 150mg

Jan. 2019 60mg

Feb. 2019 40mg

QUESTION: What does "suspension for 2 months from May 2019 to Sept. 2019" mean? From May to Sept. is 4  months, not 2.

QUESTION: Did you take 150mg from May 2019 to Sept. 2019?

Oct. 2019 80mg

Nov. 2019 to Jan. 2020 40mg

QUESTION: Does "suspension" here mean you stopped taking the Wellbutrin from Feb. 2020 to Sept. 2020?

Sept. 2020 150mg

QUESTION: Do you take Wellbutrin once a day?

Here is my understanding of your use of Wellbutrin.

Dec. 2015 to June 2016 40mg as the last phase of reduction of Wellbutrin modified release (XR)

Dec. 2016 to Jan. 2017  40mg

Feb. 2017 to Sept. 2017 80mg

Oct. 2017 40mg

Nov. 2017 to March 2018 stopped taking Wellbutrin

March 2018 to August 2018 60mg

Sept. 2018 to Dec. 2018 150mg

Jan. 2019 60mg

Feb. 2019 40mg

March 2019 - April 2019 stopped taking Wellbutrin

May 2019 to Sept. 2019 150mg Wellbutrin

Oct. 2019 80mg

Nov. 2019 to Jan. 2020 40mg

Feb. 2020 to Sept. 2020 stopped taking Wellbutrin

Sept. 2020 150mg

Starting and stopping the drug is very destabilizing to your brain, especially when the dosage changes are so large.  How are you feeling?  We recommend tapering by no more than 10% of your current dose every four weeks.

Why taper by 10% of my dosage?

We do not recommend stopping a drug cold turkey - stopping abruptly.

What is the question you want to ask?  Do you want to taper off the 150mg Wellbutrin?  This link is specifically about tapering Wellbutrin. It includes a section on tapering Wellbutrin modified (XR)

I am sensitive to Bupropion and feel a little more active, I am afraid that I will have to take the right dosage for life if I want to live decently.  Thank you very much.
