Kingfisher86: I think I tapered off Lexapro too fast almost 9 weeks ago

@Johni

I understand that CBT would not be agreeable to everyone.

If you have the opportunity to try,

try it and see how it goes.

Personally, I benefited from CBT because part of my anxiety is based in very rigid and unhelpfull ways of thinking. Sometimes, I was not aware of it.
Plus, I did not do only CBT. I have found a Certified Trauma Informed Coach/ Anxiety Support Specialist.... She helped me deal with neuro emotions, ups and downs in WD.

Sometimes, it is more about having somebody who can listen to your scary thoughts with understanding and without judgement.

None of my friends was able to understand fully.

July 19th 2017—July 2018: 10 mg Escitalopram

August 2018— June 2020: 5 mg Escitalopram

Supplements: Magnesium citrate 2x200 mg and Omega3 – 2x1000 mg.

🌻Positive update:

When I would speak about my symptoms during WD, I would rarely list depersonalization.

I feel like it became so “normal” for me that I didn’t see it as a symptoms that eventually might go away. I don’t know but I might have suffered from it even before WD.

So for the past 3 days, there has been a shift for me like never before.

I don’t feel like I did something in paticular that led to this. I think brain is healing and I am getting my life back on track.

I just feel so present, not behind a glass door, not completly lost in thoughts, and objects around me are just things (my brain doesn’t think of them more then necessary). It is hard to find the right words to explain such a weird experience.

I hope it sticks with me. Maybe WD is subsiding, maybe my brain is accepting the fact that I am not in any danger anymore...

I still experience constant mild anxiety,  but I really think this is an encouraging shift I’ve never could imagined.

P.S. Things I think might have contributed to this shift but can’t say for sure: taking care of my new dog, dance classes I started to take, saying out loud things that hurt me and scare me and my therapist showing me how to develop more helpful ways of thinking.

This video about depresonalization brought me comfort:

Hi guys,

Just wanted to briefly check in:)
I am doing well. 1st of May it will be 9 month off Lex (rapid taper).

Physically, I am very good, even tight scull muscles are not prominent anymore. It happens once in a while, I do not think about it.

My last period, I did not have any huge shifts in mood. This was encouraging as well.

I still struggle somewhat with DP but I am aware of it, so I try not to give ot too much attention.

I am processing some trama so I guess my brain somewhat feels that I am still in danger. But this has gotten a lot better.

I caught a cold and I could see that it had an impact on my mood. But again I am aware of it and I understand why it is happening. I keep saying to myself that I am still healing. My brain needs more time.

👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻

@Phoenixmama Hi

Thank you for checking up on me!

Yesterday was my 1 year anniversary since stopping Lex. I am well☺️

All symptoms, physical & mental, I’ve struggled with are completly gone except mild anxiety. It’s not there all the time, and when it comes it is manageable. I feel another year of self care and that could be gone too.

I think I helped my body heal with various things and made this journey more comfortable, BUT body heals on its own too. That why I feel that many changes came without me expecting them! That gave me HOPE that things will be ok in the end.

How are you doing?❤️

Hi! @Kingfisher86 how have you been ? Hope you’re great ! I was reading through your topic and saw you mentioned the body tingling and electric sensations , do you remember how long did those take to subside ? Thanks !!

2013-2021 Lexapro 20mg

10-21 started lexapro tapering

3-22 lexapro free
5-22 started to get paresthesia all over body mainly in legs , numbness, tingling, stinging sensations

6-22 neurologist started me on Lyrica 25mg twice a day to see if it helps with the paresthesia, got a nerve conduction test which was negative

6-22 neurologist suggested quitting lyrica as it isnt seem to be helping, and reinstating 5mg lexapro to see if it helps with the symptoms, thinking of starting lower at 2.5mg

6-13-22 stopped lyrica by doctor order (only took it 4 days )

6-14-22 reinstated 2.5mg lexapro

6-15-22 neurologist added 10mg amitriptyline to try and help with paresthesia sensory symptoms

6-22-22 updose to 5mg lexapro (bad reaction, paresthesia got worse, back to 2.5mg next day)

6-27-22 went to see a new internal doctor, per symptoms (lack of appetite that had been going on for almost a month, the paresthesia, and gi problems), told me to suspend everything i was taking and take new low dose combination drug (Adepsique) 5mg amitriptyline/ 1.5mg Diazepam / 1mg Perphenazine and 40mg Propranolol for daytime sinus tachycardia

How are you doing buddy ?

01/2017-12/2022 ~6 Years on Generic Escilitopram (5mg-20mg) because of repetitive panic attacks and anxiety that lead to depression. My tapering was not tapering as I read here. I consider it CT because of wrong directions of docs, I went from 20mg to 5mg in a short amount of time and then jumped to 0mg.

•01/07/23 Took maca root powder for pssd for 4 days only which I think worsened my symptoms a lot.(Not sure if that was the cause or what came was supposed to come)
•15/07/23-01/08/23 Prebagalin) 2x50mg

01/08/23 - 05/08/23.  75x50mg

06/08/23 - 18/08/23 2x75mg an then reduced 19/09/23 - 23-09 to 75x50mg

24/09/23 - 1/12/23 2x50mg.

1/12/22- ongoing  2x45mg( on first week of December happened a mistake in liquid I made and took 4  times double dose  )

15/01/24 -  ongoing occasional 5mg  diazepam for anxiety.
