Hi anything would help.

i was prescribed Zoloft, prestiuq, rexulti, lamotragene,Paxil during a 14 month period all at separate times and tapered off in 8 days. Also experiencing black mold toxicity. I’ve been off meds for almost 3 months. And out of the apartment  for a month. Very desperate. I’m experiencing derealazation , massive depression and anxiety. I have no idea where to start to address these things. Psychiatrist wants to put me on Prozac and and taper in 3-4 months. Symptoms from both are conditions are similar and again don’t know where to start.

Welcome to SurvivingAntidepressants, Jb1378.

To give members the best information, we ask them to summarize their medication history in a signature -- drugs, doses, dates, and discontinuations & reinstatements, in the last 12-24 months particularly.  To the best of your ability, please list the dates your were on each of the five drugs and the doses.  Use this link and press "save."  Once you've done this we'll be better able to advise you.

You're experiencing withdrawal from too-fast tapers of some or all your drugs.  I'm assuming, because of the rapid switching from drug to drug, that none of the drugs were helpful.   Doctors, who don't believe in withdrawal, often misdiagnose withdrawal as "return of the underlying condition"and prescribe more drugs, then more drugs, putting you on the drug-merry-go-round that you found yourself on. The symptoms you describe are typical of withdrawal.

What is withdrawal syndrome.

When we take psychiatric medications, the CNS (central nervous system) responds by making changes over the months and years we take the drug(s). When the medication is discontinued, the CNS has to undo all the changes it made. Rebuilding the neurotransmitter production and reactivating the receptor and transporter cells takes time -- during that rebuilding process symptoms occur.

These links describe the healing process from these drugs.  We have found that people in withdrawal do heal in time, though it's impossible to predict how long it will take.

Derealization or Depersonalization (DR and DP) - Symptoms ...

We're a site for going off psychiatric drugs and helping people to deal with withdrawal.  As such we don't recommend going on new drugs to deal with withdrawal or for other reasons.  If you do go on the Prozac, you should know the a four-month taper is much shorter than we recommend and could add additional withdrawal symptoms.  The vast majority of doctors know nothing about safe tapering, which is one of the reasons this site exists. For future reference, should you need the information, we recommend tapering no faster than 10% of current dose every four weeks.

Why taper by 10% of my dosage?

Instead of drugs, we recommend non-drug techniques to deal with emotional symptoms.

We don't recommend a lot of supplements on SA, as many members report being sensitive to them due to our over-reactive nervous systems, but two supplements that we do recommend are magnesium and omega 3 (fish oil). Many people find these to be calming to the nervous system.

Magnesium, nature's calcium channel blocker

Omega-3 fatty acids (fish oil)

Add in one at a time and at a low dose in case you do experience problems.
