Hi WantRelief,

Glad you were able to see your friend and have a good time on your visit.  I find whenever I have a social occasion, it takes a lot out of me.  I thought I was the only person who had to "recover" from socializing! :)  I do have to rest up afterward.

You talked about your tapering, so I looked at your signature and have a question.  What does this mean:   Klonopin 1.5 mg. No change in symptoms after almost 5 months (? tolerance ?)

Are you still taking Klonopin?  I don't know anything about Citalopram.  I am tapering from Prozac and can attest to the fact that even the minute cuts affect me a great deal.  I don't know if it's placebo or WD, but I certainly feel a drop in energy and mood and an increase in anxiety and brain fog.  I am currently going to hold longer than I had planned before the next cut.

I hope you are feeling better, WR.  Thinking of you.

Hi @RealMe - I have always needed to recover after socializing but withdrawal brings it to a whole other level.

To answer your questions:  Unfortunately I am taking Klonopin 1.5 mg in addition to citalopram.  Back in September 2017 I had increased my citalopram dose from 20 mg to 25 mg due to feeling withdrawal like symptoms after experiencing stress with work.  I waited 5 months to stabilize but did not notice any change in my symptoms so started this recent taper.  The question has been if I am in tolerance so that is why I put the question marks around that word as it isn't really clear to me if that is what is happening or not.

Holding longer before your next cut sounds wise.  I am thinking about you - WR.

-10/07: 100 mg Zoloft; 1 mg Klonopin - tapered off Klonopin after 4 mos. Several unsuccessful slow tapers of Zoloft; went up and down in dose a lot

-Spring 2013 back on 1 mg Klonopin to counter WD symptoms; switched over 5-6 mos from Zoloft to 35 mg citalopram
-Two attempts at slow tapering citalopram, always increased dose due to WD; also increased Klonopin to 1.25 mg in 2014, then to 1.5 mg in 2015

-8/17-9/17: After holding one year at 20 mg, feeling withdrawal symptoms due to stress - slowly increased to 25 mg. No change in symptoms after 6 months (? tolerance ?)  - decided to start citalopram taper February 2018 (still on Klonopin 1.5 mg).

Thank you for your kind message @Rabe. How cool you were born in Portland - it is a great city.  I hope you are doing ok.

While I am here I thought I’d post an update that I am going to move forward with my taper and reduce this evening by another 2.5% - hopefully it will go smoothly.

Hi Wantrelief,

I hope that your taper goes well. We all tend to feel our way through tapers, don’t we? I hope that the 2.5% cuts are good for you.

I only do small cuts too, haven’t tapered in many months but hope to do so again at the end of August.

Wishing you all the best in your taper💚💚

Love Portland! So glad you got some time to maybe distract yourself with a friend, but I know traveling can be more hassle than it's worth in this state sometimes. But it's good to gauge how you're feeling and push through accordingly, in my opinion. Did you do anything special? I love the gardens there; I really love gardens all around and find them especially calming nowadays.

Thanks for stopping by @bheb.  It was a good distraction to be in a different place and with my friend.  We did go to a very cool rose garden (not the big one) that was in the middle of a neighborhood....it was beautiful and so cool that it was just here in this random neighborhood.

Update:  I realized that I am going to need to switch to all liquid for the next part of my taper.  I am awaiting the liquid and then will make the switch over to all liquid (have already been using a small amount) instead of dropping a dose next week.  I haven't had any problems before with using all liquid so hopefully it will go smoothly.

Hi wantrelief,

Wishing you all the best in changing to liquid tapering.

Im glad you got to go to a gorgeous rose garden, nature is good for the soul. I would have taken a million photos😁. I went to the Botanic Gardens not long ago and they had hibiscus flowers in a ton of different colours. Absolutely beautiful. It brightened my day.

Sending hugs🤗

Thank you @Rabe and @Carmie for your well wishes.....I really appreciate it!  So far so good with the switch to using all liquid.  I had been using it in very small amounts so it is taking some getting used to the taste in a larger quantity....not tasty at all.  But that is ok if it is my only problem.

I hope you both and everyone else is doing well on their recovery journeys. 💗

It is so nice to hear from you my friends @Rosetta, @DMV64, and @Rabe, thank you for your thoughts and checking-in on me....seeing your messages warms my heart.  I am ok.  I seem to be tolerating the liquid well so far.  I am still struggling with the same symptoms which is quite wearing. I am very grateful that so far my taper has not produced any significant worsening of symptoms. Or I suppose I should say there are days where the symptoms do worsen but it does go back to baseline eventually. However at the same time, it is quite difficult getting through the days.  I am still forcing myself out everyday, just tired of everything being such an effort, being so uncomfortable in my own skin, the apathy/demotivation, working with dark intrusive thoughts, not sleeping well or able to enjoy food, etc. I so hope at some point the symptoms will fade as I get lower.  I must admit to quite a bit of fear. Perhaps if I had some windows it would help me to feel more confident that this is going to work out.  I know I sound negative and hesitate to post because of this.  I need to trust this process more....it is just so very scary to feel so far away from yourself everyday.

I am, as ever, so grateful for your support.  I hope you all are doing well.

I am in the same condition.  It's very, very hard to live this way indefinitely.  I can't shake the feeling that I could be making better choices or being proactive somehow to make this fear stop.  There isn't much that I can do other than try to stay busy and ignore the way I feel.  Dwelling on it isn't good, but the intrusive thoughts are hard to take over and over again.  I don't know if commiseratingis helpful to you or not.  Just know that we all understand.  You are not alone, and you are not crazy.  This is a real condition with a real cause.

Thank you so much, Rosetta. What you say regarding the thoughts is so true....it is hard to take over and over, for me they are relentless. While I am sad others are in the same boat (including yourself) it is always helpful to know I am not alone.  I am envious you are off medication.....I am having all of this whilst still on high doses of both an AD and benzo.  This fact easily overwhelms me but I try to remind myself to take it one day at a time and not think about the future as much as I can.

I need to trust this process more....it is just so very scary to feel so far away from yourself everyday.

Aptly put, @wantrelief... it is distressing to feel far away from one's self, the light at the core of who we are as persons. I think you are helping everyone here by posting authentic thoughts and struggles that others here have too. Thanks.

@wantreliefso far away from yourself everyday.

And that is so so true WR...makes me sad daily when I think of who I was and what I have become now.  Feel not a good mom or grandmother or friend and feel not contributing to the world...yes it is like the world is going on and I am watching from somewhere far far away.  Take care!!😥💜

I am so sorry you feel this way, Rabe, and do understand. Although you may not be able to do everything you were able to do in the past, your loved ones still love you. You are still contributing by being in their lives, this is so very important.....please do not underestimate how much you mean to others and what your impact is. 💗

Truth is things have changed...I can understand what you are saying about trying to get out and the fear...it gets in the way.  I think they still love me but the expectations are still there because that is what I was their whole life and they cant in any way comprehend or understand how this is or why...dont think anyone could possibly think this can really be happening unless it is happening to you...like a science fiction movie!

I truly didnt say it in a feel sorry for me way...it is just how it is.  When I have a good day my kids think that is how it will be from then on...so do I...and then it isn't and that is crushing to us and those we love often I think.

But we are all together and that is the silver lining of this...something truly lovely in the world today....people really understanding, sharing, caring, helping, supporting each other.  I believe the world would be a far better place if the essence of what is here were everywhere.  Thank you again for sharing WR and for your kindness! 💜

Hmmmm.....I am beginning to wonder if I spoke too soon about not having any reaction to switching to an all liquid taper.  I've had a headache for the last few days.  I do tend to get a lot of headaches but not at this point in my cycle (the headaches are usually hormonally related).  Of course it could be completely unrelated.  I will just have to wait it out and see as what is done is done.
