Begin gradually in February 2021 to take drugs with a doctor's supervision or get an antipsychiatrist

Male , 42 years old, various unfinished psycho-emotional situations in childhood I started smoking tobacco at 15 years old, in 2000 I was working in a mini factory, I got intoxicated with Tinner painting in a basement without any safety measures, I was welding, cutting wood and it was all very toxic, (iron filings, sawdust, argon welding, (TINNER). In that same year family problems, confused thoughts, paranoia, I left home, spent 3 days on the street, was found and admitted to a psychiatric hospital for 1 month, aggressive. I had 5 sessions of electroshock or they called it micro narcosis. Several pills, blurred vision. Medical opinion (brief psychotic state, possible Schizophrenia) I left the hospital I don't remember which pills I took. Year 2002 I moved to England, I remember taking quetiapine, (Seroquel) Feelings of loneliness, fear and anguish. In 2003 I moved to Spain with my father after he left us when I was 6 years old. I remember taking PROMISE 200mg. Year 2005 in Spain I had surgery for Thyroid Cancer. Year 2008 very difficult situation, I don't know why I stopped the medication, I was washing the dishes after playing a football game and I had convulsions and I cut my hand, (my father thought that I wanted to injure myself, I could explain him after 6 years that they were convulsions and in the emergency room there was a record of attempted suicide that because of bad communication remained like that. I was not admitted. In 2012 I will return to Uruguay, my home country. I remember continuing with Promise 200mg and clonazepam. Year 2017 difficult situation taking care of my 95 years old grandfather in his house, together with my mother, lack of work for not socializing well, confusion, anxiety, fast movements, occasional insomnia, confused thoughts, social isolation, ( quetiapine 100mg and clonazepam 2mg) , levothyroxine 200mg x day.   My mother gets breast cancer, she has about 15 operations in her life, always with doctors, pills and negativism. I am admitted in psychiatric hospital, this time not aggressive, they were paranoia according to me, I was 1 month and I go out taking quetiapine 100mg 1 x day, Olanzapine 10mg 1 x day, clonazepam 2mg 1 x day if I am very anxious ½ sublingual, . January 2020 depression (lack of work, socialising, sport, isolation, negative thoughts about life in general) supply Sertraline 50mg.

Current medication : quetiapine 100mg 1 x day, Olanzapine 10mg 1 x day, Clonazepam 2mg 1 x day, Sertraline 50mg 1 x day, levothyroxine 200mg 1 x day.

I wrote a book in the middle of the pandemic that helped me a lot, working twice a week. Hyperactivity, anxiety, compulsive thoughts, negative thoughts from time to time. I never had thoughts of suicide or of hurting anyone.

I want to stop taking the pills little by little, that's why I came to this forum that little by little I'm going to discuss, I'm looking for help to stop taking the drugs, and I'm a compulsive smoker.

Thank you very much if someone can help me.

Cordial greetings and how good it is that there is this space to be able to express oneself.

No me internaron. Año 2012 vuelvo a Uruguay mi país Natal.

I have realized many things that were done to me and are being done to me by the drugs

I wrote a book in the middle of a pandemic that was very rewarding, I'm not talking about me. And I have it for sale on the internet, I feel good about myself being alone, I live with my mother who I am looking after who is very ill, I looked after my grandfather for 4 years, my intention is to find an anti-psychiatrist to gradually give up these drugs and perhaps write a book that will be called The Truth about Psychiatry and Mental Illness as I have been taking drugs since 2000 to date, I consider myself very intelligent, in many things, from drawing plans in the computer that I studied 5 years in a university, to playing guitar, learning yoga, tai chi, I have many movements and various techniques, I play football very well, and I worked in more than 40 jobs, but relating is my big problem. I have the look of my family on me,

Hello Gustavo, and welcome.

And so great that you have joined us here at survivingantidepressants.org

Your first post got translated, and you'll see the translation application bolded right at top of that post, once I get you started and approved.

And then it looks like you have included in that post, just about everything you will need to do a signature next:

Also, please put your medication and tapering history in your signature -- that's the information you see at the bottom of someone's post. This will help people understand your situation no matter where you post on the site. See instructions in this topic:

https://www.survivingantidepressants.org/topic/18343-please-put-your-withdrawal-history-in-your-signature/(Please note that, while your identity is protected by a screen name, your topic can be read by anyone who visits the site, including Google, and do not post sensitive identifying information.)

Take a look at the link above, and let us know if you have any questions about how to do this.  It's pretty self explanatory in the link above.  Thank you.

It can sometimes be difficult too, but not impossible to find a psychiatrist to help with tapering in a harm reduction manner, which is why this site exists really.  As well as to have a community to come to, that gets it, and to find information, and get support around tapering.  We also attempt to gather data here as well, to share.

And okay, I am going to give you some more links today to some of the key information that you will want to get familiar with.

The 10% taper recommendation is a harm reduction approach to going off psychiatric drugs.

When we take medications, the CNS (central nervous system) responds by making changes over the months and years we take the drug(s). When the medication is discontinued, the CNS has to undo all the changes it made.  The CNS likes stability. Rebuilding the neurotransmitter production and reactivating the receptor and transporter cells takes time -- during that rebuilding process symptoms occur. And sleep is really important during withdrawal.

And oh, one other thing you could do.  After you get your signature done, would you go to Drugs.com and put your present medications in the interactions checker there.  Then copy and paste right here, in a reply post.

This is your introduction/journal page where you have now introduced yourself to the community, you can ask questions here regarding your tapering, give updates, and just keep a record of your journey.

Welcome aboard.

Love, peace, healing, and growth,

very cool about your book too.  That's great.  And oh so sorry for what you have gone through to date.  Very tough stuff.

Hello Gustavo,

Can you copy and paste my responses here into DeepL.com if you cannot understand them as written?

And then if you post a response in Spanish, would you again, copy and paste it to DeepL.com, and then put the  English translation in the response or new post from you in addition?

That would be so very helpful.  Thank you.

Hola Gustavo,

Gracias.

Hi, I have stopped taking sertraline reducing to 10%, I am now on olanzapine reduction 10,
and also reducing smoking, at the beginning when I stopped sertraline I had a bad mood, now it is gone, I am still taking quetiapine 100 1 per day and clonazepam 1 per day. I take t4 levothyroxine 200mg daily. The idea is to stay only with clonazepam 2mg and t4 I have to continue for life because of thyroid cancer. I am doing well this way, it helped me a lot to work, go out with nature, do yoga, tai chi and play soccer. I was told that reducing quetiapine is not going to be easy, I am a little scared, but with an unwavering faith. thank you very much for this space. Greetings to all !!!!
yes you can!

Hello, the truth is that I am less anxious and worried, my thoughts are not so compulsive and dominant, it has helped me a long time ago to internalize myself in oriental philosophies and the first psychologists so to speak that were initiated in India with their methods of yoga and meditation that I practice. Also the books of Ekart tolle like the power of now. I feel progress and faith, I know it will not be easy when I start reducing quetiapine, that is what I was told. If you can, thanks again for this space in common and to all the people that day by day we are in the progress of living without drugs with a progressive methodology with awareness and patience and nothing happens if several symptoms appear, I think you can return to a previous point, for example if I was in 1/4 vuevlo to 1/2, thank you very much and best regards.
