DinaDina: overactive/painful bladder, PGAD? after sertraline

It seems I'm getting worse. It's terrible because there will be my 1 year anniversary soon. I have had a pretty linear progress for this year so I hoped that I wouldn't have a crash like this. But I have. I got a tooth filling and after that everything started again. I don't remember when I feel a such way. It's terrible to understand that you're here again. And I absolutely don't know what I need to do with my teeth because I have many issues. I guess that I can make it worse but I don't want to live without teeth or with implants.

@DutchMaddyI appreciate your support ❤️ I think my wave is because of a dentist work. I felt worse when I was sitting in a dentist's chair. Maybe it's because of anesthesia, maybe because of I was tensing my abdomen (I always do it in a dentist's chair because of fear). I just hope that it will go away quickly.

How are you doing? I hope you're getting better.

It's really good news! I'm happy to hear it! And, of course, it makes me hopeful.

I decided to visit a dentist again on Friday. I will try to practise a belly breathing and ask another type of anesthesia.

I continue to get worse. I'm so scared because I used to live with pretty mild PGAD and I feel genital sensation again now. I thought that I was 80% healed but I'm at the begining now.

Can someone assure me that wave after a dentist cant'b long? I hardly waited for improvements last time and I can't accept happened.

Hi Dina. You are 1 year of off AD? This is probably a bad wave. They will come when you least expect it. I had a very bad one at 11 months of. Please try to have faith in you’re healing. This is all withdrawal!!  Crazy stupid withdrawal!!  You’re healing continues, especially in  waves you’re brain is working hard to make you’re brain the way it was before!  Try to accept. I know it is so hard, but it will help you’re brain to focus on the healing instead of the stress!  You will get better!💕

I also thought about 1-year wave but I felt bad 20 minutes after anesthesia. It doesn't look like a coincidence. I came to a dentist with amazing mood but it finished with a flare.

Maybe the anesthesie made it worse but you’re healing will come back. You’re brain is sensitive to a lot of things. But you’re teeth- and mouth health is really important too. Try to let the dentist treat as many teeth at one time as possible and keep faith. You are not alone. Everybody on this forum knows about this terrible protracted syndrome. We all have our own terrible days and moments. But we will eventually heal. You are already healed for a big part!!

hugs for you!!

So I did it. I have visited a dentist today. I'm feeling bad for last days and I had the one episode of severe anxiety today (before a dentist), but I decided to go. And it's surprised I didn't get worse after anesthesia. I don't know why. Perhaps, because I had only one shot of anesthesia and I had three shots at the first time. Or a dentist used something with adrenaline last time. I don't trust doctors and I suppose it may take place. Anyway I'm not worse today after a dental work and it's good news. But I'm still in wave and scared.

I asked a dentist and he uses Mepivacainum for me.

I have new problems and I don't know it's WD or something else. I have been feeling periodic numbness/tingling on right part of lower lip and pain in chin since August. My teeth on right lower side became sensitive and painful. It was bearable and it was similar to the my problems with wisdom teeth before WD. I removed them and I thought that it finished. So it started again but I tried not to notice it. Month ago I started to feel pain in different parts of my right side of head and numbness/tingling in lip became more strong. I feel pain in my jaw (only right side) - near ear, under eye, in chin and under chin. I don't feel it while I'm sleeping but it appears when I start to move. There is definitely a connection with the movement. It's not constant but it's becoming stronger.

So I visited several doctors and I wasn't diagnosed. And it's funny (not real) that they want me to take AD or Gabapentin from my pain. I'm furious now. I don't know what I need to do (of course, I won't take any meds). I don't have a diagnose. I have pain and numbness. And I don't know what it is. Can it be WD? I'm afraid that it is a new disorder and not WD. Because all of my WD-symptoms appeared right after stopping AD and I didn't receive something new during my WD.

I'm very sad. I'm afraid of living all my life with pain without any help.

@DinaDina dear Dina it is WD really. You have been to the doctor. Is is common in WD to develop new symptoms. Is does not mean that they will stay or get worse. It means you’re brain is busy on another part of you’re brain try to reach homeostasis. Try not to worry to much!  WD is all about restoring of nerves. This with you’re face,is nerves recovering. The same as with the bladder. Try to meditate. Try to take deep breaths. It will pass!!💕

January was awful month for me. I was looking for a reason of my numbness/pain and a neurologist made me much worse. She touched something in my mouth and it caused spasm and pain in my face, jaw, neck and back. I really wasn’t able to open my mouth. Good news I’m better after an osteopath. I’m so angry. I’m suffering again because of a doctor.

But that’s not all. My bladder is bad too. Fulness, pain in low abdomen, urethra spasm. I’m 13 months without meds. I had mild symptoms for autumn and hoped that my second WD-year would be a starting of new life. Something stupid.

My belly is really big for last weeks. It’s look like I’m a pregnant. Strong spasm and fluid retention, as I think. I can’t lose weight that I gained for first months in WD. Could anybody lost weight which was gained in AD or in WD? I understand that weight is a final problem in our adventure but it seems that it is the last straw for me. I’m used to be overweight but, finally, I was able to get a body that I wanted. And I want it back now😞

Today I think that my body will never heal. I know that it's possible but I can't think by another way.

I start to have new and new health issues. I think they are not because of AD. But everything went wrong after AD. I had never had problems with feet but they've been hurting for some months. And it's really problem now. I'm afraid of arthrosis. I hope that osteopath will be able to help me. I just want to walk. It always helps me but I can't walk without pain.

I don't know how distract if I can't walk.

Dear Dina. You cannot think clear because of you’re withdrawal. Those are all negative emotions. It is you’re withdrawal speaking. In a wave we think that we are not able to heal, but we are. I am so sorry for you that you are feeling this bad. Did you have an MRI? To check arthrosis? Withdrawal is all about nerves. Bladder nerve pain. Pain in feet, neuropathie, neuro emotions etc. Please try to have faith. A lot of people have body ( nerve) pain somewhere in their body. It is withdrawal. Check everything out with you’re doctor and try to beleave in you’re body. I’ll be thinking of you!!💕

I didn't. Maybe I should. But I don't know why because I can't take any meds now (if it's arthrosis). It doesn't look like nerve pain so I suspect "real" problem. I can only hope that my osteopath will be able to help me. See him on Monday.

Hello DinaDina and Morgana. I am 11 month offAD and 6 weeks ago I got terrible bladder and pelvic pains. Never had it before. Have to pee a lot of times and the pain spreads to my perineum like having a baby. Sometimes it is gone or very light pain. Went to urologist. Had ultrasound and flow checked out and will have a bladder kidney ultrasound too. All was well. The urologist said it is possible to get this from AD use( makes bladder weak so has to restore itself) but he also think it is possible from withdrawal ( over sensitised nerves). Progressive of this doc. It is very painful and very hard to accept next to the mental withdrawal. I hope it will pass soon 😌Take care both of you!🌹

hey, I’m currently going through the same pelvic pain & urge to urinating frequently, I just feel soo weird down there. It hurts so bad. Had this stopped for you??

Im so happy for you because the pain sucks glad you got relief. Did pelvic exercises help at all for you?? Or was it truly just time? & how many months did it last for you?

sorry for all the questions. I just never had this pain before until a few days ago. Feels like I got hit by a car down there.

Hi, no problem. It lasted about 2 and a half months. It was truly terrible and indeed very painful. It was time that healed me. I think it is you’re brain healing, that area ( nerves,  especially the nervus vagus.) it will pass!

I was the same with the cystoscopy that I needed to know I didn't have visible IC lesions on the camera. Make sure you speak to the nurse about your concerns of IC. I had a nice lady explain it all to me after. I had a reduction of pain after that camera, I think it took some anxiety and worrying away which allowed my tense muscles to ease off a bit.

On the other hand I was hoping they would actually find something to explain the symptoms so I could get some kind of treatment.

hey I’m going through the same weird bladder pain, burning sensations & pelvic/ low back pain. How’d you get rid of yours?? Was it just time that healed it?

The same story. When my bladder became overactive while I was taking Zoloft my doctor told me it was neurosis developing and with my stomachache added bladder issues - «It’s so common when people with neurosis have overactive bladder». I’m happy that I didn’t believe her and didn’t take another meds. But it’s pity it didn’t help me a lot.

Last night my bladder issues came back (I had a 10 days window without strong pain). I feel pain in lower abdomen, can’t lie on belly and want to urinate more intense again. But PGAD symptoms are tolerant now.

I feel that my genital area (especially urethra) is wet but it’s not true, it's just my feelings. Sometimes an air bubble come out from my urethra. It all sounds absolutely crazy. Month ago I stopped to look for a doctor who will be able to understand me. I’m just waiting.

wow I literally have all these same symptoms. The urge to urinate, the pain & weird sensations down there, it feeling wet when it’s really not. Has this gone away for you yet?
