Moderator Emeritus Gridley Posted March 16, 2021 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted March 16, 2021 3 hours ago, Melany said: JesussavemefromWd regrets not reinstating in time..so Reinstatement is somehow safe on the long run. Reinstatement is risky and often doesn't work. This is even more true if you're having an adverse reaction to the reinstated drug. It sounds to me as if you had an adverse reaction to the reinstatement of Prozac. It also sounds as if you are a person who does not do well with psychiatric drugs. If you're having an adverse reaction to the Prozac, it's not going to go away. You won't "get used to it." You mention an article (I don't know where you found this article) that says if you don't have a bad reaction to a drug, to keep going. This isn't your situation, however. From everything you've written it sounds as if you are in fact having a bad (adverse) reaction. WD is hard but it does end. 11 hours ago, Colonial said: f you and your doctor do decide to try another you should not be surprised if your condition becomes worse. Colonial
I think you are going to do ok. Please do not get too emotionally invested and involved in other peoples negative responses to their own situations. You need to keep positive for your own recovery and not assume that other person's negative outcome will be your own as well. We all have to come to terms with the fact that our drug histories are complex and we can only make good progress when we can both put fear of the future aside and come to some sort of acceptance of what happened to us. For some members that can take longer than others. Until that time comes for all of us, we can accidentally stay focused on the negative or what wasn't fair. I do not see that in You. I think your starting to see the problem in a fuller context with all it's complexity and you do not seem to be stuck in a very negative thought pattern, you just don't know which way to go. Not everyone is where you are yet and until any of us arrive there we can sometimes accidentally make our future outlook sound worse than it is or ruminate on what we "should have done". Neither is helpful to moving forward. Since the other member you keep referring back to was also having an adverse reaction to their drug as well, reinstatement was never really a viable option. Everyone's case is different, as is the positive or negative outlook we bring to any challenge. I think You are capable of doing this. Are you able to put your continued hormone treatments, the name and strength in your signature line? This does seem as something that could complicate your symptom chart. Thanks very much. 🙂 Edited March 16, 2021 by Colonial 1 Starting ds 2 (12.5 CR'S) = 25 MG PAXIL CR 1/21/15: 1 Pill + 10mg liquid (2 weeks) 2/4: 1 Pill + 9mg Lq (3 weeks) 2/25: 1 Pill + 8 mg lq (1 week) 3/4: 1 Pill + 6 mg lq (2 weeks) 3/18/15 1 Pill + 4 mg lq (2 weeks) 4/1/15 1 Pill + 3 mg lq (2 weeks) 4/14/15 1 Pill + 2 mg lq (2 weeks) 4/29/15 1Pill + 1 mg lq (16 days) 5/15/15 1 12.5 mg Pill ONLY (9 days) 5/24/15 12 mgs liquid (8 days) 6/1/15 11mg lq (12 days) 6/13/15 10 mg. 12/3/15 Drop from 8mg to 7.6 (24 days to) 12/27/15 7.2mgs 8/4/16 6.8mgs, 11/1/16 6.4mgs, 2/5/17 6 mgs 4/3/17 5.6mgs, 4/24/17 5.2mg, 6/13/17 4.8mgs, 9/20/17 4.4mgS, 11/23/17 4 mgs, 1/1/18 3.6 mgs, 2/15/18 3.2 mgs. 4/13/18 2.8mgs, 5/11/18 2.4mgs, 6/10/18 2.0 mgs, 8/4/18 1.6mgs, 9/27/18 1.2mgs, 12/24/18 0.8mg, 3/24/19 0.64 mg,(syringe change issue date?) 4/22/19 0.60 mg, 5/24/19 0.60 mg, 7/7/19 0.52 mgs, 8/4/19 0.44mgs, 11/4/19 0.36mgs, 2/1/20 0.28mgs, 3/1/20 0.24mgs (crash April 6) Compound started 6/28/21: 0.24mgs, 8/29/21: 0.22mgs, 10/31/21: 0.20mgs, 1/03/22: 0.18mgs, 3/5/22: 0.16mgs, 5/5/22: 0.14mgs. Melany
Thank you everyone! Taking into consideration the new information and how I am feeling now I decided to stop the reinstatement. I pray I won t regret it . If I took the wrong path , at least my history is here and might help others take the right one. I will keep track of how I evolve in 2 weeks .Fighting this anxiety.. I seem better than I am. I could be better if only I would love myself more, go out, speak out, eat at least normal and treat myself at least 10% of how I treat others. I did not get to speak with my doctor but I will on monday. Will update with his oppinion of what happened. Thank you for the coping skils also. Maybe because you do not love yourself enough...? You are the Number 1 in your life! Remember that all the time! That is not egoistic thinking (what many believe). That is Loving yourself! When you start loving yourself, all the other things you mention will solve themselves. You will automatically stop doing things that are not good for you. And you will know and do what IS good for you. When someone treats others better than him/her self, that is not love. That is looking for love outside of you. The Love you want is inside of you, not with others. Find it in your heart! There it is! Let it blossom! I know where you are! I have been there too. And sometimes, I forget what I have learned and I am back there again for a short while. But all of us have the Love and Light inside us. It is just hidden behind our wrong beliefs! I wish so much that you will concentrate on this Love and Light inside you. That will be the real Healing! 1 1993 Anafranil (Clomipramine) for a few months. Moderator Go2zero Posted March 18, 2021 Moderator Share Posted March 18, 2021 Read this beautiful poem of Charlie Chaplin. It says so much! “As I Began To Love Myself” - Charlie Chaplin As I began to love myself I found that anguish and emotional suffering are only warning signs that I was living against my own truth. Today, I know, this is “AUTHENTICITY”. As I began to love myself I understood how much it can offend somebody As I try to force my desires on this person, even though I knew the time was not right and the person was not ready for it, and even though this person was me. Today I call it “RESPECT”. As I began to love myself I stopped craving for a different life, and I could see that everything that surrounded me was inviting me to grow. Today I call it “MATURITY”. As I began to love myself I understood that at any circumstance, I am in the right place at the right time, and everything happens at the exactly right moment. So I could be calm. Today I call it “SELF-CONFIDENCE”. As I began to love myself I quit steeling my own time, and I stopped designing huge projects for the future. Today, I only do what brings me joy and happiness, things I love to do and that make my heart cheer, and I do them in my own way and in my own rhythm. Today I call it “SIMPLICITY”. As I began to love myself I freed myself of anything that is no good for my health – food, people, things, situations, and everything that drew me down and away from myself. At first I called this attitude a healthy egoism. Today I know it is “LOVE OF ONESELF”. As I began to love myself I quit trying to always be right, and ever since I was wrong less of the time. Today I discovered that is “MODESTY”. As I began to love myself I refused to go on living in the past and worry about the future. Now, I only live for the moment, where EVERYTHING is happening. Today I live each day, day by day, and I call it “FULFILLMENT”. As I began to love myself I recognized that my mind can disturb me and it can make me sick. But as I connected it to my heart, my mind became a valuable ally. Today I call this connection “WISDOM OF THE HEART”. We no longer need to fear arguments, confrontations or any kind of problems with ourselves or others. Even stars collide, and out of their crashing new worlds are born. Today I know THAT IS “LIFE”! 1993 Anafranil (Clomipramine) for a few months. Later in 1993 Paxil for a few months 1993- 2006 No medication 2006 Effexor, Cymbalta, some Benzo’s. All for short periods. Some times the stress of sticking up for our selves may seem overwhelming, so we don't We may even pat Ourselves on the back as being the more "giving" person to justify being abused. Melany
Hey! Had my doctor's appointment today and YOU WERE RIGHT! I was having adverse reaction or side effects to Prozac and I was supposed to stop it! . Don t know why no one realized that the whole year I was on it, probably thought my condition was getting worse. He gave me a prescription for Paroxetine, thinking it s a better choice now that he knows that. I politely refused, said I am keeping it for when my condition gets even worse. Noticed I'm ok till I interact with people. Was ok all week till someone confessed his problems to me and I identify with them. Can t say stop or no. The next morning I was ruminating intensely. This identifying this is torturing me for years. Cant feed a stray dog without thinking about his pain for weeks. I get stuck in it. I guess a wave will hit me soon and I should get used to them. Wanted to let you know what happened maybe it will help another. Wishing you an amazing, peacefull week! Also what you mentioned earlier about taking care of others is something that often goes together with that. This behavior most often has to do with not loving yourself (enough). I speak from experience. But, believe me. You can learn to love yourself! And then you will notice that you will automatically stop identifying with others. Unconsciously you are probably looking for the love outside of you instead inside yourself! When you have found it in yourself, you will stop looking elsewhere! Because the only REAL LOVE is in your Self! Read again the poem I posted in this thread. Is says a lot. Believe me, paroxetine (or any other drug) will not help you a bit in learning to love yourself. And paroxetine is one of the most difficult SSRI's to quit! Take care! 1 1993 Anafranil (Clomipramine) for a few months. Later in 1993 Paxil for a few months 1993- 2006 No medication 2006 Effexor, Cymbalta, some Benzo’s. All for short periods. Moderator Emeritus getofflex Posted March 22, 2021 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted March 22, 2021 @Melany some of us are empaths, and we naturally feel for the pain of others. Also, ruminating is so common during AD WD, but it does improve with time. Kudos to you for politely refusing the Paroxetine. I agree with Go2zero that Paroxetine is one of the most difficult drugs to quit. This thread talks about ruminating thoughts. This may not trigger a wave in you. Hopefully not. Melany
Any of you tried alternative practices? Like reiki, bowen, bioresonance etc? I feel something is wrong with my energy, felt that for years and so many people said that they ve never seen such bad luck. What other therapies have you tried? I had 2 years with CBT and a few sessions with psychoanalysis. Cbt might work on some people but for me it didn t. I wasn t accepting the changes unless my oppninion was changed as well. I ll continue withan update. 148 days since coming off prozac. Was doing great for a few weeks right after that wave, after that ups and downs. My life sittuation isnt helping. Had doctor appointments and medication and that usually pulls me down. Need 4 surgeries, had a asverse reaction to the first Pfizer shot and on top of that was bitten by a cat I was trying to save. 7 vaccines in a month now and half deaf in one ear with tinnitus. No friends, no going out and a work without any validation. SO... considering that I m doing ok:))) I feel my brain is disturbed, it s chaos in my thoughts and body. It like its totally out of balance and in dispear. I get obsessive thoughts that last for days, I binge eat and binge shop. I still feel awful when I see hurt, pain or anger. I ve been trying to see if exposing myself to the mild things that upset me might help me and I ll become more tolerant to them( like angry people..drivers, workers) It s not working. I get just as sick as the first time, my bucket of hormones just spill inside my body. I ve been doing it for months. I am still not confortable around people and avoiding them. I can t read in here even if I wish I could:( so logging in now and then just to check my messages. I hope everyone is doing great and sending courage your way. Better times are coming.. Moderator Emeritus getofflex Posted May 24, 2021 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted May 24, 2021 (edited) Melany you are a trooper for getting through all of that. Congratulations for getting off of these drugs. 15 minutes ago, Melany said: I feel my brain is disturbed, it s chaos in my thoughts and body. It can take a very long time for the brain to heal, especially after being on lots of psych meds. I'm proud of you for hanging in there - this is not an easy thing to do. 15 minutes ago, Melany said: Better times are coming. I like your optimism. Hang in there. It very slowly gets better. Melany
Dealing with WD and surgery medication. What do I do when I have to take a surgery? It s been a year with WD either from many types of antidepressants I took or benzodiazapines. Cannot handle any supplemens now. Had 2 minor interventions (1h) so far with midazolam and propofol and after both I had depressive anxiety and full blown rage attacks. My rage was uncontrolable and my akathisia returned. Otherwise I am doing better and better, strugling but ok overall. In 6 months I will have a 6 hour surgery and it freaks me out. What do you do when in a sittuation like this when the protocol is for you to take them? Who s been through this? Your help is highly appreciated, thank you. HealthHopeHappiness
I had pelvic surgery last July. I spoke to the anaesthetist beforehand and explained I was recovering from an adverse reaction to SSRIs and didn’t want any benzos. I wish though I had also said no to any sickness medications as I was pumped full of them and I didn’t realise they make WD symptoms worse. I’m not going to lie, I did have a terrible wave after the surgery but I had no other choice but to go ahead with it. I was also given 2 or 3 doses of oxicodone and gabapentin which will have also triggered the wave after. Sorry you’re having to go through this during WD. Maybe you could speak to your anaesthetist too beforehand and explain your situation? Mid-August 2020 - started 15mg Mirtazapine, increased to 30mg 2 weeks later. Late-September 2020 - switched to 20mg Paroxetine as Mirtazapine exacerbated RLS. October 2020 - stopped Paroxetine because of worsening RLS, muscle twitching and general restlessness. Mid-October 2020 - Switched to 50mg Sertraline. Restlessness, muscle twitching and other symptoms even worse. Stopped taking it on 18 November following advice from GP - took every other day for a week before stopping completely. Mid-November 2020 - GP prescribed Propranolol to take as and when required for anxiety. Have only taken a few times as it makes me very light headed. January 2020 - currently taking magnesium citrate powder in evenings to help with RLS. Also taking high strength omega-3 fish oil. Link to comment
