Thank you Hayduke,  I can't update as I am too senstized, but thank you for all the suggestions

Thanks Shep,  I am now cancer free and had surgery in October 2022, removed some of my kidney

and the thyroiditis has also went back to normal in September 2022

Nothing else has changed other than I am perimenopausal and have had some intense hot flashes the last few months

Feels like everything changed when I reduced 0.02mg????

Thanks so much

My rule of thumb was to reverse the most recent cut if I was not feeling like it was stabilising after 4 or 5 days.  I was able to feel when it was going to steady up and when to go Whoah Nellie.

I'm not sure how extensively you've researched the nature of these major tranquilisers (APs), but this an excellent article on some of the complications in withdrawal, and in fact dosing generally.  https://thelastpsychiatrist.com/2007/07/the_most_important_article_on.html

The point here, being that I noticed several distinct patches of "terrain" during my taper, and it was interesting to correlate these with changes in receptor occupancy affinity.

More specifically, I had a rather rough month after dropping below 1.25mg.  Everything felt different, like a different layer of cotton wool or something in my perception was coming off, and the lights were just a bit too bright.  The feelings weren't bad really, just unfamiliar and a bit intense.

I did a very small updose and held, and things felt wd-normal again.  I hung out at 1.25mg for another month or so.  You can see the dipsy-doodle in my graph around late 2019 here

https://www.survivingantidepressants.org/topic/20131-hayduke-coming-off-olanzapine-zyprexa/?do=findComment&comment=560099

After that, I was able to resume the taper with no further major snags.

This is why I specifically suggested 1.25mg as a potentially safe updose for you.  It is not a large updose but my hunch is that it would be effective for you to stabilise there for a while to regroup.  It is also easy to measure out.

Akathisia is a bear.  I never found anything that consistently helped with it, but you're thinking clearly to only make small gradual changes in either direction, or just hold to ride it out.

I has been 5 months since I dropped 2 percent of olanzapine

I am experiencing intrusive thoughts, fear of people and faces, irrational thoughts, suicidal

DP/DR

This has been the worse I have noticed in the last month

I am wondering if a drop like this can cause such significant effects???

Also I am wondering if I am reacting the olanzapine now and my body is rejecting it

Still struggling bad- 5 months since change

worried I'm going insane

Can't updose

been thinking constantly of going to hospital and giving up

Wondering is my body rejecting the olanzapine now?

Feel like it makes me feel worse when I take it.  Before I always felt it helped my symptoms

Can a 0.02mg cause such destabilization???

Is this the worse wave yet?

I haven't had a period in 7 1/2 months and I assume I am going into menopause

Could this be the reason I'm falling apart???

Sorry you are still having a hard time with these drugs, @Naomi007

I would obviously let the women here speak ahead, but from what I am told first hand, menopause can be a very challenging adjustment.  The many hormonal changes would be almost certain to interact with your psych drug wds, especially if you are already finding them difficult.

When you say hospital, wouldn't that just lead to a massive updose anyway?  The night I was admitted, I remember complaining bitterly about the akathisia they induced, and asking if they felt this was really helpful treatment.  Politely, of course, so they didn't start pushing me around even more.

What I think I would like to have suggested to me if I felt as upset as you are sounding here, is to put your feet up, then gradually (or at once 🙂 ) make a long list of the ways that you can find comfort and relaxation.

Start small if that's easier, and find a few that work.  Yoga?  Deep breathing?  Epsom Salt baths?  Walks in nature?

Concentrate on what works, and start building around your reliable techniques to relax and let go of as much pain as you can.  And as you go, you can find more ways.

All the best

Sorry for taking a while to get back to you @Naomi007 I have been run ragged here.

Depending on the kind of support you need, I would suggest looking for help lines, govt assistance programs, other forums where people might know more about such supports etc, as a complement to the tapering support here.  Find what options are available and what might suit you best.

Brieftly looking at the Canadian government web sites it all seems a lot clearer friendlier and better laid out that what we see in Australia presently.  Asking friends and rels may also help.

Cheers
