in the last 14 months, my life has been uprooted and withdrawal was really really difficult. But I was able to develop skills to cope with it which I hope will help me with difficult situations for the rest of my life.

It's wonderful that you are developing these very valuable coping skills.  This is often how we grow, by going through difficult things like WD.

Please do not private message me.  Only tag me for urgent questions about tapering and reinstating - thank you.

Dear SA community,

I am still going through different symptoms, in the last six months I have been having some symptoms of hormonal imbalance although previous tests did not prove much. Recently gynecologist told me that I have developed PCOS and I have to take medication for that. However I am not sure if this is a temporary imbalance. I will get checked for insulin resistance tomorrow. In the last 7-8 months I have been checked for several hormones. parathyroid was abnormal once but after redoing the test with 2 months time difference it came out normal again.

Did anyone develop these symptoms in withdrawal? Did anyone have insulin resistance or PCOS which they suspect was right after withdrawal??

I am very unwilling to start hormonal medication because I m very scared of medication and their side effects specially now that my body is still recovering from AD withdrawal.

Kindly give me some advice about this.

You might consider trying a low carb diet.  My suggestion would be to NOT take any drugs, only one change at a time.  I have reversed my diabetes without drugs.  I got my Hba1c down from 7.0 to 5.2 in only 3 months, eating 3 meals a day.  My blood pressure has improved, as have my cholesterol numbers, I have lost weight without trying, the quality of my sleep has improved.  I write more about it in my Intro topic here and also in the Diabetes topic (where I have also included links to helpful videos different from the following).

There are Youtube videos where people talk about the improvements in their PCOS they have noticed when changing to low carb.  Search for more using the following term:  pcos low carb keto

Ketogenic diets help PCOS

Summary:  A new study shows significant benefit from a ketogenic diet for women suffering from PCOS. Could this become the new first line therapy?

Dr Rob Cywes is a bariatric surgeon and he says that he counsels his patients to use birth control because they often become pregnant after surgery, which is a fast track to reversing insulin resistance.

If you do decide to change your diet I would strongly suggest not doing it all at once.  I think I have written in the Diabetic topic about that.

Hello everyone.

I am here to provide some updates. It's been 18 months since I cold- turkyed my AD and I went through a very rough time with a mix of really horrendous symptoms. But I am glad to say that my patience and the help from you led me to my current state in which I feel healthy and happy and I have developed a wisdom with habits for self-care and self-value. There were days that were really impossible to pass on without the help and guidance from this community. I can't find a word to explain how grateful I am.

Hello all.

It's been almost two years now.

I feel good and healthy. I keep doing yoga every day for about 60-90 minutes. I meditate. The brain fog comes and goes but it's not as bad as it was. I have developed awareness about myself and my emotions, feelings,...

I started Journaling when I stopped the medication and so far I have written thousands of pages. Writing, yoga and meditation helped me a lot. They helped with understanding myself and learning to be able to spend time with myself, like myself, forgive myself and enjoy being with myself.

However sometimes the grieve takes over. The regret of all those years spent on medication. I try to sit with my grieve. I try to accept it and let it be... It's not easy though.

The process of healing is still going on... Slowly.
