Then apparently you were switched to Fluoxetine on on May 7, then stopped that drug on May 17. As of May 17 you stopped Fluoxetine and were not going to take any drugs for 7 days. Administrator Altostrata Posted May 23, 2021 Administrator Share Posted May 23, 2021 If your sleep deteriorates as you increase escitalopram, you're going in the wrong direction. How much escitalopram are you taking now? How much sleep are you getting? What effect has the escitalopram had? I would not plan to progressively increase dosage. You need to take a pause of a couple of weeks after a drug change to see what it does. There is no set dosage for you. You're not chasing "depression". What you want to do is see withdrawal symptoms diminish. This is not medical advice. Discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical practitioner. Take care in these low dose regions. That is where the real dangers are, when tapering... Hey @Go2zero how do you calculate the SERT? Thanks The formula to calculate the SERT for Prozac is: (86xdose in mg)/(1,94+dose in mg). I do not have the exact formula for calculating the SERT for escitalopram/Lexapro. But I do know that the SERT graph curves do not differ that much from Prozac. If you want to use the Prozac formula to calculate the SERT for escitalopram you should multiply the escitalopram dose by 2, since 10mg escitalopram is comparable with 20 mg Prozac. So the formula would be then (86 x dose in mgx2)/(1,94 + dose in mgx2). Please know that these calculations are not exact. Everybody reacts different in SERT to specific dosages. But this formula is giving an average. More important is that it calculates and shows clearly how extremely high the SERT still is at very low dosages. Many of us think that they can stop after they went 90% down in dosage. Not knowing that the SERT may around 30% (whereas the SERT was around 75% at the full dose of 100%) This thread says a lot about this subject: Please read everything to get a good understanding. Administrator Altostrata Posted May 24, 2021 Administrator Share Posted May 24, 2021 If you take lorazepam every day, it's likely you will become physiologically dependent on it and need to taper off. Demi918
Hello Mates, good to be back here after 2 years. Update to my condition: I was in hospital for about 3 weeks and MD reinstated 10mg Escitalopram with 1mg of Lorazepam(0,5 mg in the morning(9am) and 0.5 mg in the evening (9pm). I stabilized at the dose and was released from hospital after 3 weeks. Started again enjoying my so called antidepressant stable life. I started tapering Escitalopram on Jan 2013 with first 10% cut and felt nothing. I am staying for 3 months on every cut to be on safer side. I was doin fine until 7.5 mg cut. recently on oct 29th, My MD force me to cut from 7,5 mg to 5mg siting it is very slow tapper. I explained everything but he only wrote a prescription for 5mg and I started taking 5 mg. I was fine for a month and suddenly yesterday my symptoms that I have never had for 2 years came to visit me. I reinstate my 7.5 mg and told MD of the symptoms that I experienced. Hoping to get stabilized in a week and than going with my own tapper and if that means I need to switch a doctor, I will do it but not playing with my life. Dec2019 - Started 10 mg Escitalopram for my Anxiety Aug2020- Did DNA pill check work to find out Escitalopram is not for me. Dec2020/Mar2021 - Started reducing my dose to 1 mg every week for 10 week. 4th Mar 2021 - Took last dose of Escitalopram 1 mg. 30th Mar 2021 - Reinstate 1 mg Escitalopram. 19th Apr 2021 - up my dose to 1.5mg. 7th may 2021- hospital staff gave me 10 mg fluoxetine. 17th may stopped taking 10mg fluoxetine. Currently not taking any meds for next 7 days. Stared taking 0.50 mg Escitalopram on 23rd May 2021 Vit D3 800 iu once daily ,vit B12 1000mcg once daily, Neurapas 2 tab once daily (added by my Naturopath) stopped taking on 17th Apr, Mg Glycinate 200mg 1 cap a day. Jan 2023- Started tapering 10% every3months. Nov 2023- Jump from 7.5 to 5mg and felt Symptoms in a month. going back to 7.5 mg on 14th Nov. Link to comment
