You started taking clomipramine again? What dates did you take 2.5mg and 5mg?

How do you feel having taken clomipramine again?

I had a breakdown and my dr said to take 2.5mg for 2 days and 5mg for 2 days and 10mg yesterday and tonight.

How often do you take codeine, at what times of day?

Please keep daily notes of times o’clock you take ALL your drugs, their dosages, and your symptoms throughout the day. We need to know how you feel before and after taking each drug, and your symptoms in between. Post 24 hours of notes at a time in this topic, in a simple list format with time of day on the left and notation (symptom or drug and dosage) on the right. This can show if your symptoms are adverse effects from one of your drugs.

Sorry I forgot to answer 2nd bit. I get immediate sedation and relief a bit but it doesn't last. I think its the sedation that makes me feel bit better but when it comes back before next dose during early afternoon it's even more intense. Happens every updose

Sorry struggling to make sense of anything. I feel the hit when I take it of a sedative relaxation confusion and I get led into false sense of security and when it wears off I get immense anxiety. Each updose that happens. Poss better sleep but only as im taking at night. I've got the side effects of difficulty passing urine and confusion that I had when I took it and obviously disfunction feeling sexually but I'm hoping that's good as I'm getting it back in me? How do you feel about it?

It looks to me that you are taking TOO MUCH clomipramine, which is common when people in a panic beg for help from their doctors.

If I were you, I'd immediately go back to 2.5mg clomipramine and stop panicking, you're making your own problems. Please let us know how you're doing.

Can I just ask a few things as I live alone and don't have any1 so I'm going in my head all over and over.

Is 2.5mg a dose I can just stay on? For a while.

Have I ruined myself and not be able to get back?

Is what I'm reporting usual normal symptoms for someone that you have encountered?

Just your opinion on those just so I can get my head in gear if possible as I have nobody to bounce off.. Is 2.5mg a good dose to be on for me.

It's the ectopic extra beats that are the worst things that make me jump. I could handle the rest of it better even though its extreme.

The reason you felt better after a few days when you got to a higher dose is because it takes several days to a week for any dosage to build to full effect. If you had stayed on 2.5mg for a week, you might have been a lot more comfortable as it ramped up over the week.

Low-dose reinstatement is intended to reduce withdrawal effects, not instantly reverse withdrawal syndrome. It can take a while for your nervous system to settle down. Then, you can start tapering again.

If your intention is to go back on clorimpramine long-term, you should be asking your doctor these questions. Re-medicating people is not what we do here. If you like the idea of taking 10mg clomipramine even though it is causing adverse effects, such as skipped heartbeats, you need to talk to your doctor.

Please let us know when you want to taper off.

Hi thank you

I feel better that same first night  night when I updose. Thats all not after that night.

Also

I got skipped beats when I started to feel bad in beginning and came here in distress. It seems to be less when I'm updosing briefly just that night but happened from the first symptom back when I was suffering on 0.04mg and hasn't gone.

Is it a realistic thing that I go back on 5mg or 10mg jump from here and stay on it? Or can I go to 2.5mg and stay in it?

It's not really about tapering me now it's about feeling better.

Is it possible to go back on and the jump not be too much to 5mg or 10mg?

I know you help with tapering but I just want to feel normal again even if it is back on so I'm lost really.

Can someone like me just go back on and be OK and just take 5mg or 10mg or is that in your opinion a bad idea? Not from the opinion of taking antidepressants as I know people want off them here but from a point of view for a shock to the body?

I want to feel better than now in quickest time and I would rather go to any amount now that is shortest time span than gradually try.

I'm just after your experience on here to know from what you have seen.

Really hope you can just give me a direction on that. I know I'm desperate but I do appreciate it.

Thank you.

What does this mean? What night? What was the dosage?

You do realize that the effect from these pills increases over some days when you restart them?

I do not know at what dosage you will feel "okay". I suggested you go back to 2.5mg and see how you feel after taking that for a while. There isn't anything else I can add.

Hi. I understand. Its every night I take the updose on the first night of it. Such as when I went to 2.5mg and 5mg and last night 10mg. For the next 12 hours I feel as if I made the best decision and it calms me. Then it wears off and the next day when I take the same amount it doesn't do the same thing. So its just I feel relief the first night on every time I up the dose only.

I know you are helping me and I know I'm just quite desperate to be ok again.

Just in a mess.

If you don't like the effect of 10mg, I would take less.

As I said before: If I were you, I'd immediately go back to 2.5mg clomipramine. Try this for a week or 2. If you feel you need more, you could increase to 5mg.

If your intention is to stay on the drug long-term, please take further questions to your doctor.

Thank you for replying to me. I just don't know what to do. I think I feel ok on 10mg until it wears off. I wanted to be off but this has hit me worse than anything and I feel like I would do anything to get some kind of life back. Was doing well I thought but I just crashed and feel worse than ever in my life. I actually feel the best sedation effect and calmness on 10mg but it wears off so I really am in a mess. Thats why I wondered if I split a dose in morning and night it may help as I read somewhere somebody doing that.

Certainly feel some slight relief when I've taken the drug which is terrible to admit.

Very sorry, we cannot make your decisions for you. You have to decide whether you like the effect of 10mg or not. If you decide it is causing uncomfortable adverse effects, I would reduce it, as I said earlier.

I'm thinking of possibly whatever dose I do (which will 2.5mg tonight) I may split morning and night as I read something on here about someone doing that to avoid the unpleasant afternoon symptoms that creep up badly. I will do anything to feel some kind of steady state again and stick with it for a long time.

I understand you can't make decisions for me.

It's very good of you to take time to reply.

I think you are generating a lot of anxiety about making a decision and that is adding to your confusion.

I know I have to make the decision. I was just trying to get any knowledge as to it being a disastrous effect on the body to retake the medication in the dose drs have given me. Say 5 or 10mg. At the end of the day I know I have to decide but if it was glaringly obvious it may do me harm or anything then I was just wondering. I appreciate you can't make the decision and I know you would take 2.5mg if you were me. I have done tonight. I just hate not knowing if the decision I make alone in next few days could be really harmful or not. I cant ever trust my drs opinion so I'm sort of guessing without your input.

Just a quick one. I've realised something.

Strangely enough when I went back up from 0.04 to 0.05mg and then jump to 0.1mg the ectopic beats started. Shortly after that if you see at bottom of my history in September. I did feel relief when I took the extra when I went up from 0.05mg to 0.1mg that same night and my pulse didn't seem to race as much so I thought it was right thing to do but since them my heart is skipping beats.

I was going through a bad time so I thought I needed to go back up. God knows where I am with it all now.

Just wanted you to know

How are you feeling today after the 2.5mg dose last night?

It will take a few weeks to stabilize.

Splitting your dose to every 12 hours may help, 1.25mgs twice a day may be gentler.

But consistency is key.

Feel better soon.

Thank you for replying. I'm still in a state. Im so unsure. I know I'm a struggle to deal with but I'm so unstable at moment. I was dropping over years and it was going well. Now I'm unsure where I am. Feel more sedated and relaxed on higher dose like 10mg or 5mg or every time I up the dose but it only makes me sleep better and next day its awful. I'm not in a good place at all. I cant talk to my Dr as they won't understand anything so I don't know where I am as I'm alone and don't have family and only a few friends that don't have any ideas at all. I was going down fine. Best I've been in years when on 1mg and down and then wham. Don't really know when it materialised but it hit me hard. So now I've gone up and I'm still a mess. I'm in hell to be honest.

Part of me thinking I need to go up and part of me thinking I should have kept with it but I really am lost.

You think splitting will be good then?

If you can be so kind to look at how I tapered please.

Is 2.5mg a good dose to be on? I trust Altostrata obviously but I like as many ideas as possible. Its much less than a 10mg pill but much more than I've been on for a year approx poss more.

Is this a good idea or do you have any input? Hope you can just give your views if its OK with you.

Thank you

I would not take any more than 2.5mg TOTAL  daily.

1.25mg 2 times a day if you feel too many symptoms inbetween the once daily dose.

But 2.0 may be ok, too.  1mg twice  day.

I agree the 5 and 10 were too high and are probably likely to make you feel worse.

The thing you need to remember is consistency over time.

1. Did you take 2.5mgs last night?

2. What did you take so far today?
