Hello Callietallie, I'm sorry to read this and I can only imagine how jarring this must be with your dental issues. The pain from those are no joke and I definitely understand how this can throw you off.

I am wondering about reinstating at a low dose to try to stabilize so I can do a slow taper after my dental issues have resolved. Can you do that after 14 months off? What would the kindlilng risks be? It's kinda my last resort, but I am miserable right now.

I am not a moderator nor knowledgeable, but there is this topic on reinstating that states that the longer you wait, the less you have chances of it working, however I remember reading a spreadsheet somewhere about the reinstating effects on some members on this forum, and some had successfully reinstated 1+ year after stopping the medication and it did help them a lot. I can't find it but I know it's been posted somewhere.

I don't want to advise anything wrongly but I would say maybe a very very small dose would be doable, see how you react?

In any case I am crossing fingers things get smoother your way. Hang in there!

Better days are ahead. If you read this and are still struggling - hang in there. It'll be worth it. My success story: I recovered from Escitalopram withdrawal.

Aug 2017 - May 2018 -> Escitalopram 10 mg.

Nov 2018 - Jan 2021 -> Escitalopram 10 mg. Feb 2021 - 5 mg.  Feb-March 2021 - 5 mg, one day out of two.

Since March 13th, 2021 -> Escitalopram 0 mg. Withdrawal appeared 1 week after last dose.

@Siderale. I appreciate your response so much. I am at a loss about what to do. I had a minor dental procedure last week and I think I have had a bad reaction to the epinephrine in the anesthetic. I have been in a constant state of agitation and anxiety ever since. I have multiple procedures left that need done, plus one tooth that still hurts daily despite a root canal. It's getting really hard to cope. Really not sure how much longer I can go on like this, and yet I don't seem to have any options.

Doing my best to take things one day at a time.

Thank you again for your encouragement, truly.

2001 to 2016  - On & off primarily Lexapro 10 mg 5 to 6 times (also tried Clexa, Wellbutrin, Effexor and Prozac)

2018 - Added Buspar for a month to mediate teeth grinding, didn't work, still on Lexapro

01/2021 - Lexapro, 15 mg, bumpy increase

02/2021 - Cross taper off Lexapro to 100 mg Zoloft

03/27/2021 - Very short taper, 50 mg Zoloft for one week then stopped (was supposed to be cross tapering with Cymbalta)

2011 - current Xanax .5 mg PRN
05/2022 - Klonopin .5 mg 2x a day, for 2 weeks because of full breakdown due to protracted dental issues
06/2022-10/2022 - kept trying to stop Klonopin, but would have panic attacks every 3-4 days, interdose withdrawals
10/2022 - Klonopin .5 mg 2x a day, stabilized then began slow taper
3/19/2023 - Klonopin .36 mg split between 2 does a day

Posting an update and hoping for some encouragement.

Since my last post about dental issues, my health anxiety spiraled to the point of breakdown. I could not get the possibility that the pain was from some lingering infection that would escalate to extreme pain and that I would contract covid and not be able to be seen. So I spent many weeks isolated from everyone, and eventually went on clonazepam 2x day for 2 weeks to stabilize. I then continued to take it as needed, which ended up being every 2-4 days and I finally realized I was dependent and having interdose withdrawals. So I went back to 2x a day to stabilize and am still in the process of doing a slow taper off that. In the middle of all that, I finally had the problem tooth extracted and felt great for a few months.

However, the more I taper, the more my grinding and teeth sensitivity continue to worsen.
I see the best TMJ specialist in my area and I have worn a night guard faithfully for as long as I can remember. I've been to the dentist
countless times and he continues to say everything looks fine, but my pain and anxiety about the pain continue. I also had an updated cone beam CT scan done last week at a consult about getting an implant, and I pretty much have zero cartilage left in my jaw from all the years of grinding, so that's awesome.

I guess my question is has anyone who had bruxism and/or teeth sensitivity every resolve? From what I've read it is both a side of effect of SSRIs (Lexapro being particularly bad) as well as an effect of withdrawal. So I feel damned if I do and damned if I don't. I meditate, do yoga, walk. I have tried cranio sacral, chiropractic, massage, acupuncture. I am nearly 2 years off and so frustrated that I am still dealing with this. I can feel myself spiraling into that really bad, dark scary place.
