We drive from California to Las Vegas every summer (August) to celebrate a bunch of August bdays in our family. This year and last year sucked terribly. I was in bad shape last year in wd and in bad shape this year. Luckily I have my own air bnb rental that I can stay at and be alone. I have just been faking it to make it this whole time. I even get scared sleeping at night being by myself and knowing I am far from my home. Its hard looking at everyone in my family enjoying themselves and here I am deep inside battling physical symptoms and racing intrusive thoughts. I even had to take half a tablet of my emergency clonazepam one day so that I can get through the day. Hang in there, I am with you in spirit! I really hope that one day I will be free of this med and healed and actually be present and enjoy my vacation with family. It triggers and saddens me that there is separate compartment in my luggage with all my shaved off pills and pill box. I hate seeing it and knowing that its going to control my life for now. Thankfully tonight is our last night, we have been here since Tuesday, tomorrow we head back out. I have so many emotions going on. Part of me is relieved that we are going back home, but part of me is so depressed that I did not fully enjoy the love and fun my family has. They have no idea that I am just faking it. @DiscJockey I know that feeling so well. Your sitting there looking at everyone being happy and remembering how you use to feel . You try to be your old self but your dying inside. If your credit for going. You will be there eventually and get to enjoy things again it just didn’t feel like it now. 2 1995 started Paxil 20mg slowly increasing to 50mg until 2014 -2014 I decided to tapper myself not knowing how too and crashed , DR added 50mg Seraquel -2015 tried tapering again and crashed Started Tapering Both drugs at the same time 6% per month doing daily micro-taper Guided by Mark Horowitz 24/09/23 14.47mg Seroquel. 16.19mg Paxil 27/11/23. 12.13mg. Cheeky
@Greatful this can be so disheartening, when you just want to enjoy things but your body and mind won’t let you . Good on you for going and sticking it out . You will enjoy these things soon , just don’t rush it . I know we tend to want things to go back to normal and we do things that we shouldn’t and we come out feeling worse. Give yourself a break for awhile and stay low . Mentor Greatful Posted August 29, 2021 Author Mentor Share Posted August 29, 2021 @Mia1 @Cheeky No I am not doing okay. Really hit the wall this time and feeling very withdrawn. Losing interest in doing any coping skills, meditation. Hubby claims before when I struggled so hard it usually was follow by a improvement. I guess I have to trust him because I am so sick of feeling this way. I think we are going to weigh several of the Lexapro's and find the lowest weight and cut the rest to that weight to start with. Not sure if this is good idea or not. I suppose I should ask a mod if is a good way to start getting off this horrible drug. Who should I ask? We are still wondering if the Lex is causing the panic feeling and the restlessness. I have been slowly moving it up in the morning, I am at 9am so far. AndyPants
@Greatful getting the liquid Lexapro has eased my stress a lot surrounding my medication, trying to cut pills and get it consistent each day is stressful. Helps me get more precise with syringe and then I don't have to stress about if the sizes are right and how to make minor decreases. I was too nervous to ask my doctor for a prescription for the liquid for a while but when I finally did it he gave it to me with no issues. Would recommend going that route. Maybe cutting works for others but liquid has been better for me. Yes I do know that I have been slowly healing. I can feel it in my brain, I still have all the brain pains and sensations but some small amount of rationalization or the old me is peaking out. I don't know how else to explain it. But of course the emotional pain is surfacing too. I feel like I have a leg over the line at times and I tell hubby can you push me over to the other side. The back in forth from the horrors of WD to one leg over the line is a stress all by it's self. Then you have the inner child disfunction taking over, then the rational adult brain peaks in, so back and forth like a pendulum. Broken brain, healing brain 🙄😵😥 My goal for today is to go for a walk, write in my journal, make a smoothie, meditate and take a long over due shower🥴 Thank you Mia1 you have stood by me through the thick and thin for the last several months, I think we connected June 11th. Mentor Greatful Posted August 30, 2021 Author Mentor Share Posted August 30, 2021 @Frogie @Altostrata I have slowly moved my Lexapro from the noon to 9am. I used it though my taper and it was so much easier. There was no weighing or averaging. I put it in a little apple juice and drank it Dow; every morning. Otherwise, you should weigh 10 tablets to get an average. Then once you have established an average, crush the tablets and weigh them out to the average weight and put them in gel caps. That gives you a baseline weight. I’ll be happy to help you once you get an average weight. If you just let me know the strength of the tablets and the average weight of 10 tablets. If you are really bad you could try doing a small taper of maybe 2% or so and see how you do. Hang in there. What time o'clock do you take Lexapro and what time o'clock does this symptom start? To switch to a liquid, you'd take part of your dose in pill form and part in liquid for a bit, then all liquid. This makes the transition easier. You can also make your own liquid from your tablets, see Tips for tapering off escitalopram (Lexapro) This is not medical advice. Mentor Greatful Posted August 30, 2021 Author Mentor Share Posted August 30, 2021 @Altostrata I have been taking it at 9am. by 10:30am the frantic feeling started. Nausea and sick to my stomach started around 11:30am The rest of the day very on edge. I am a very fast metabolizer. I took some magn. L theanine and I am drinking chamomile tea right now so I feel a little drop in the panic. But like I said when I moved it to noon from 5pm my sleep got better but I noticed it is even better since I moved it to 9am. I still wake up a couple of times at night but the sleep is much deeper then when I was taking it at 5pm. I would like to throw ever last pill I take into the garbage. Administrator Altostrata Posted August 30, 2021 Administrator Share Posted August 30, 2021 I don't think you're a fast metabolizer, it sounds like the dose you take of escitalopram reaches peak plasma right on time, a few hours later. Your symptom pattern indicates something is causing you to get adverse effects from Lexapro in the morning, but it could be from an interaction with trazodone's active metabolite m-CPP. Administrator Altostrata Posted August 31, 2021 Administrator Share Posted August 31, 2021 Peak plasma is always given as an approximate range. No matter what your liver enzyme tests show, the active ingredient is getting into your system at a normal rate. There is 5mg active ingredient, escitalopram, in each tablet, no matter what the tablet weighs. Do not cut all tablets to the same weight, some will have less than 5mg in them. If you want to reduce by 10%, you'd weigh each tablet and calculate 90% of the pill weight, then trim the tablet to that weight. Were you not able to get liquid escitalopram? This is much easier and less error-prone than dry-cutting. This is not medical advice. Discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical practitioner. Mentor Greatful Posted September 2, 2021 Author Mentor Share Posted September 2, 2021 @@brassmonkey My 5mg lexapro tablets are coated will this create a problem? I crushed 1 5mg tablet of Lexapro, Pre crushed it weighed 64mgpw after crushed it weighed less. How do you loss the weight? Can you loss some of the powder in the brush and around the bowl and on the pestle. We had to crush a second pill to get the weight on the scale to 62mgpw for a 2% cut. I am scared that I will be up dosing. The scale comes with a tray that we us on the scale with the powder. We tared it out to zero before we put the powder in the tray. I am so sorry, I am sure these questions get very tedious for you after awhile. Moderator brassmonkey Posted September 2, 2021 Moderator Share Posted September 2, 2021 How much less did it weigh after crushing? Yes there will be a small amount of powder that sticks to the brush, the pan and the crushing equipment. That could account for the difference in weight. This is one reason we suggest that you create a "stock pile" of powder from several tablets and then weigh out the amount you need. Does the coating crush well along with the filler? or does it leave big flaps of material? Big flaps could be removed from the stock pile. 20 years on Paxil starting at 20mg and working up to 40mg. Sept 2011 started 10% every 6 weeks taper (2.5% every week for 4 weeks then hold for 2 additional weeks), currently at 7.9mg. Oct 2011 CTed 15oz vodka a night, to only drinking 2 beers most nights, totally sober Feb 2013. Since I wrote this I have continued to decrease my dose by 10% every 6 weeks (2.5% every week for 4 weeks and then hold for an additional 2 weeks). I added in an extra 6 week hold when I hit 10mg to let things settle out even more. When I hit 3mgpw it became hard to split the drop into 4 parts so I switched to dropping 1mgpw (pill weight) every week for 3 weeks and then holding for another 3 weeks. The 3 + 3 schedule turned out to be too harsh so I cut back to dropping 1mgpw every 4 weeks which is working better. Final Dose 0.016mg. Current dose 0.000mg 04-15-2017 "It's also important not to become angry, no matter how difficult life is, because you can loose all hope if you can't laugh at yourself and at life in general." Mentor Greatful Posted September 3, 2021 Author Mentor Share Posted September 3, 2021 @Mia1 3rd day with the 2% cut. I am feeling really weird. Paranoia this morning.(that's okay I have been having so paranoia off and on since the beginning of time. Sound really is irritating, sometimes vibrating in my ears and head. My brain is swirling, dizzy, confused, feels like my brain is high. One big bobble head. The tingling and brain squeezing is very strong. I tell ya this WD is some crazy stuff ‼️ It is blowing my mind the impacted the meds have on your brain. They must change every tiny bit our brains structure. Reinforces the anger at the doctors and their stupidity. If I wrote all the wild thought going through my mind right now you would really think I was higher then a kite. I told my husband to bad I didn't feel really good with this high. Mia1
@GreatfulI always felt the drop between day three and four, you should level out soon. My brain also feels impaired and my thoughts feel like they are on fast forward. Just remember this is our brains healing from the injury of these drugs. And every day you’re one step closer to healing and having this behind you.
