I'm a 50+ female in the USA with 2 college degrees who can't work because of health problems. I'm bored but can't do anything about it. These drugs have slowed me down and socially isolated me.

I'm interested in mindfulness and DBT skills. I'd like someone who could be a co-encourager with me.

If anyone in a similar situation would like to PM me, please do. We could PM or talk, whichever seems to work best for us.

Prior meds: Trazodone a few years ago. Low dose for sleep. Didn't work. Tapered off. I don't remember any details.

2012-2013 Prescribed Xanax for severe insomnia. Became dependent quickly. Dose up to 1.8mg.

Nov. 2014 New doctor anti-benzo but thought a 4-month taper was safe. Failed and stopped due to extreme symptoms. Added 25mg Seroquel for sleep. Also take gabapentin (400mg x 2).

June 2015 Crossed to Valium. 30mg V (3 x 10mg).

August 3, 2019 .01mg V. Last dose tonight.

July 2020 Now taking 100mg gabapentin 3x/day and 20mg of Seroquel at night for sleep.

On venlafaxine since 2001. Three cold turkey WD attempts unsuccessful.

In 2012 I slowly tapered from 75mg. Less than a year after taking the last grain I developed extreme anxiety and pseudo dementia.

After all clear neuro tests in 2013 I was put on Effexor 150mg. Instant improvement.

In 2014 I tested positive for chronic mercury poisoning. I'm chelating using Andy Cutler's protocol, www.noamalgam.com.

Tapering Venlafaxine Actavis 150mg: Mar 10%, May 10%, Jun (eyeballing) 3 quarters of capsule, Sep slighlty over half of capsule. End Oct exactly half capsule. Feeling great when chelating and being very hopeful that this time I will succeed!

I'd be up for chatting on something like whats app or even skype. Even email would be good. Feel free to PM me.

2000 - took accutane for my acne 2001 - On Paxil for about 6 months. Stopped due to side effects mainly severe stomach pain, extreme fatigue, headaches

2006 to 2009 - Went on 150mg of Wellbutrin/Bupropion for about 3 years. Side effects were again stomach pain, fatigue and frequent urination. Didn't feel like it helped my anxiety/depression so I stopped cold turkey. I did not have any major problems after going cold turkey at the time.

2009 to 2012 - Starting taking 100 mg of 5htp and whack load of other supplements(multivitamin, omega 3, protein shake, amino acids, sage, magnesium, vitamin D3, apple cider vinegar pills) every other day. Helped with my anxiety/mood quite a bit.

April 2012 - first signs of sexual dysfunction(pre-cum all the time especially when going to the bathroom to pee and not aroused), but issues were minor. But also had feeling as if I am ready to ejaculate all the time.

June 2012 - major weight loss, was about 15 pounds underweight and severe stomach pain and cramps

Nov 27 2012 - Took last pill of 5htp 50mg. Worst issue severe sexual dysfunction(can't get or sustain an strong erection, loss of feeling, no orgasm, no desire for sexual activity, delayed ejaculation, pre-cum when i'm not aroused, feeling of arousal all the time without thoughts) and frequent urination which is why I stopped taking 5htp and all other supplements completely cold turkey. Experienced the following side effects the past year while still taking the supplement and while getting off;

Feb 2013 - started major symptoms of PGAD Dec 2013 - severe muscle tension. Neck shoulder and headaches and migraines.

-insomnia,hives,eye twitching, restless legs, frequent urination/tingling sensation/arousal(PGAD), upset stomach, cramps, bloating, diarrhea, severe sexual dysfunction(no erection, no feeling, no orgasm, delayed ejaculation, premature ejaculation, constant arousal, morning erection not as strong as it used to be, cold damp genitals) brain zaps, dizziness, nausea, chills, fatigue, anxiety. Lack of natural body sweat especially when active.no emotion, tinnitus
Nov 27, 2018 - 6 years off since I took my last pill of 5HTP, 8 years since taking last pill of Wellbutrin

Present Issues - sexual dysfunction and PGAD(frequent urination, Cold feeling in Genitals, etc) - 6 years

headaches, shoulder and neck tension - 5 years
vertigo - 1 year

19/09/2014 crashed at 10 mg

20/09/2014 updosed to 20 mg to try and stabilize- Never stabilized and CNS basically plummeted

August 31 2015- Started my 5% taper anyways

May 3 2016- At 14 mg the tapering caught up with me- Withdrawal included severe anxiety, feeling like im on speed, suicidal and homicidal ideation, akathesia, feeling like I was on heroin, memory loss, PGAD, feeling like I was on an acid

May 4 2016- Updosed to 15.5 mg to try and stabilize

June 4- Started taking 2 mg 5 times a day which adds up to 10 mg because of akathesia when taking my full dose. Akathesia symtpoms smaller

July 27th- Dropped from 15.5 mg to 10 mg because could no longer tolerate taking drug- bad side effects mainly akathesia and emotional deadness.

Oct 11- Improved a lot since May 4th after my crash. Withdrawal symptoms still left- DR/DP, emotional anasthesia, akathesia, tingling in head, feeling like my body and face disappears, messed up sound interpretation, perception and difficulty reading social and emotional cues during DR/DP, apathy, inability to tell if I am in dream or reality, disturbed sleep. There is a FB page but as it's a public setting I'm unsure of posting on there

I'm paranoid enough (even asked for my name in here to be changed) but to have it publicly visible on FB among friends and such like when you can't even get your nearest and dearest to understand then I feel it would put people off

I wish I could find someone who understands local to me especially as I have so many issues it's impossible for me to keep up

Hello hopeful here *waves*  :)

I stopped Quetiapine on 2nd December 2016. I find myself just over 5 weeks later feeling well, together and have refound the mental clarity that I lost whilst being on the drug. I took up to 150mg. I started at 25 mg in April/May 2015, then went up over the next couple of weeks to a maximum of 150mg. Even though it is an anti-psychotic I was taking it to treat treatment resistant depression. I've experienced depression for over 30 years.

So my withdrawal was more physically difficult than emotionally or mental. I had severe sweats, dizziness, drunken feeling, headaches, lethargy, insomnia and a bit of shakiness. I got through the first fornight mainly by staying in bed and drinking loads of water. I'd eat fruit, seeds, nuts and loads of green veg. My key was resting up as often as possible.

I'm feeling very well and actually despite the physical issues I fet the difference in mental clarity pretty much from day one or two. Just over 5 weeks later I remain in a good place and am only looking forward in my life.

If anyone would like some support during their withdrawal I'm really happy to respond to PMs and offer you my time, understanding and patience.

Best wishes to you all

Hopeful  :)

Quit quitiapine on 2nd December 2016. Dosage 150mg.Been on it since April/May 2015.Take 30mg of amytriptaline as a neuropathic.

Previous meds 1995-2015 - moclobimide ,trazadone, paroxatine, fluoxetine, sertraline, citrilopram, mirtizapine, dothiepin, doxipin ,venlavaxine and buproprion.

Yes, I agree that an off-site phone conference among members is a wonderful idea. We would need to organize by polling people on the day(s) and time(s) when they would be available to chat together. There are many platforms that would accommodate this.

Maybe members in the past have already done this--not sure. But all of us could use the support that a personal connection that a conference call would provide.

If anyone is interested as of today (Feb. 10, 2017), I would be willing to try to organize and set it up. Just post your interest here.

lex - great! Will PM you

Just to clarify, I wanted to do more of a txting based communication so that throughout the day if one needs to vent or alternatively compelled to share positive thoughts/news regarding tapers we can. I think it will help feel like there is always a support system in our pocket regardless of time of day (of course response times will vary). I think Drugfreeprof has an excellent idea, too, for those who prefer a phone conference. I think Skype and google hangouts could be good for that.

As for the chat room style system I suggested, wechat and groupme are just 2 free apps you can download on any smartphone (if no smartphone or you don't want the app, you can have groupme forward as text messages). Groupme can also be used on a browser.

Let me know if you're interested either here or a PM :)

Can those who would be interested in, say, a monthly phone chat (just to start--maybe more often if it is what members want)

let me know a day and time that would work for them?

I am wondering about a Sunday evening--that day and time is when I've often found people being available--but I'm not sure, so could interested members PM me with suggestions?  It would be wonderful to get this organized.

It sounds like people would prefer a phone call, so I'm thinking a free conference call line would be good, or we could set up a group call on skype, but I will check this out with people I know who do this frequently.

A note from the staff at SA:

Please remember that everyone here has their struggles. Be considerate of your phone friend and mindful of the person's time and energy.

You may wish to begin with pms.  If after some time you both are still happy with the contact, you could consider sharing phone numbers. You may wish to agree in advance about how often you want to talk, for how long, and at what times of day.

Please do not share your phone number if you know you are a person who has difficulty setting boundaries in relationships.

I would love to Skype or talk with other people like myself.  I simply can't find other survivors in my community, at least those who are looking for someone else like me.

PS  Please respond.  I can talk during the day and up to around 7 pm at night

Now, I'm left with a damaged ANS, and other systems and an understanding of how and why those drugs were initially administered.  All are hurting here, had I a kind and compassionate form of intervention 3 decades ago, I believe my life as a Geologist would have proceeded.  Many have asked I write a book, several have already; I desperately want my life back again.

Abilify and Trazadone (Dropped from 15  mg to 3.75 mg, 50-200 mg, respectively for 10 years prior), Ambien, Lunesta, Sonata, etc (sleep meds, et. al.)

Celexa, Prozac, Zoloft,  Paxil,( and other anti-depressants interspersed though out this)

Zyprexa (5-10 mg, for 10 years prior to that)

Navane  (5-10  mg, for 6 years)

Halidol, Cogentin, Ativan  (5 then 10 mgs) (9 months total at least)

Stelizine, Thorizine (3 days)

Total about 29 years

(Many more I'm sure I don't recall, of course, all doped up, now hopefully 'reovering')

July 2020 Now taking 100mg gabapentin 3x/day and 20mg of Seroquel at night for sleep.

looking for someone in a similar situation,   I had some anxiety and took ssri's for a few years, while on them I ran up debt like I was never going to pay it back, hung out with strippers and supported one while she was on meth,  I stopped taking them cold turkey when my wife said she wanted a divorce, and really went crazy,

i am having a hard time dealing with this after because i was married to the most beautiful woman ever seen and have two great kids, i had the perfect family and walked away from it

Hi:

I'm just starting my taper, but could always have new people that we could help each other.

I have one girl that we text and it works great.

I can't talk negative right now, going through a hard time.

If you're interested, PM me and we can talk.

Take care,

Hi:

I'm not in your situation with debt and I have a fiancé. But I'm all alone. He works and we live in a town of 600 people, so I have no one to talk to.

I talk with another person through text. It works great. I can't have negativity right now. I'm going through a lot.

Read my thread and if you are interested PM me.
