Ok, i have seen the doctor 2-3 times.

So i made tetany crisis because i am dehydrated, i drink too little.

I'm never thirsty so i force myself to drink 1,2 liter per day(i can't drink more). (i think i drinked less than 500ml per day whn i had tetany).

crisis all the day of tetany stop.

The problem then was that when i drink a few sips ,stomach balloon becomes hard.

So i come back to doctor that say i have a gastritis (inflammation of stomach) and gastroesophageal reflux disease. So i am on IPP. He says that i did not drink enought because of gastritis.

For now i still having some crisis at sunset. I find that valerian root helpfull... I know it is just GABA so my crisis everyday at night is too less GABA, so it still withrawal.

I have lost 4 kg in one week, so on the moment i will take valerian extract. And i have began light therapy (my doctor say me that it can help) with a lamp that cost 200$. If it can help i will try.

I will continue to force myself to drink water since my body does not say to me when he need to drink.

(i am french)

1998 prazépam, citalopram /1999 paroxetine prazepam /2000 paroxétine /2001venafaxine, alprazolam, clomipramine * 2002 (dont remember)/2003 clomipramine, alprazolam /2004 clomipramine /2005 alprazolam /2006(dont remember) * 2007citalopram, alprazolam, prazépam, venlafaxine /2008(dont remember) /2009 venlafaxine /2010 venlafaxine *All precedent withdrawal were very fast. I tried many times to stop but didn't know what happened. *2011 mirtazapine (22,5 mg) , norset , risperdal (cold turkey for risperdal and norset, analysis by doctor say that my body does not support and i was in danger) /2012 mirtazapine / 2013 mirtazapine  *october 2014 mirtazapine (15mg) - putting down slowly.   *when i was good for one month i  down 1ml. (1ml of 100ml of water in which there was 1 pill of 15mg of mirtazapine. At the end i remove 1ml of 50ml of water but with 0,5 pill it does the same concentration.) (i down more like "how i feel, because at the beginning i had a calendar tapping 10% every 15 days and i was really bad, so i decided to see one month and after if i was trust in my body, i remove 10% of the dose at the beginning; and at the end i remove 1ml (when the 10% was lower than 1ml). It was more how i feel. (it is just the last 1 ml that i remove rapidly because i think i was attached mentally and i need to break. and 1ml of 50ml of 15/2mg is just 1ml correspond to 0.15mg. ).  -juillet 2017 stop all.

nov 2017 tetany and gastritis. I found "euphytose", "spasmine", "phyto-stress" from Govital(the more efficient if crisis because more concentrated)  efficient. If very bad i take valerian extract 1000mg (stop crisis).

january 2022: I survive. Still having no hunger sensation.

  • 6 months later...

Finally! I have found my clan. The freezing, cold to the bone symptoms! I've had them through my AD use, they've been particularly bad for 5 years.. I sleep in ski socks and woollen jumpers in the summer. Hot baths and hot water bottles and heating. I sleep in the most screwed up position. I have to get up in the night and make subsequent hot water bottle. Something is defintely up and it took me a long time to associate the two.

From what I understand its much more likely to happen when your trying to sleep . Your body tries to regulate temperature while sleeping thats what an old pychiatrist told me. I think he may be right but also our systems are just fragile at the moment .They would last anywhere from 5 min to 15-30 min. Its the main reason why I wanted off of Antidpressants. I was shaking alot.  I havent had an episode in awhile . since July.

This is exactly when it's worse for me! At night!

No. The duration reduced a bit though which is some help I suppose though after all these weeks it doesn't feel like it much, it's exhausting. I have thirst too, even though I'm also drinking loads, I think that's because too much cortisol means you don't release enough vasopressin and the urine doesn't concentrate or something. I'm imagining if it's not concentrating then there's fluid that is not ending up where it should in my body. My skin is very dry too and I have no saliva in the mornings and can't eat either.

Ive been experiencing this WD symptom too.

Very dry, not absorbing water properly, and sometimes my urine is very concentrated and its as though my body hasn't caught up with itself in terms of processing liquid ingested.

When I see my naturopath, and get on her special scales, my total body water content is always at the lowest end of the spectrum, and I drink lots of water and tea all day.

My kidney function is normal, so it's the absorption that's awry.

Conversely, when detoxing, the water retained literally gushes out of my body???

Am baffled to say the least.

Dose History: 19 Feb 2014 - Escitalopram 10mg daily June 2015 - Started taper, 5mg every other day July 2015 - 5mg every 2 days August 2015 - 5mg every 3 days September 2015 - 5mg every 4 days Sept 14th - Completed tapering, but at 7 weeks "drug free" I suffered serious WD symptoms as a consequence of "incorrect" tapering. Nov 25 2015 - Re-instated Cipralex @ 2.5mg daily. WD symptoms faded. Held at this dose and experienced "windows and waves". 12 Oct 2017 Reduced dose to 1.25mg. 13 Mar 2018 Reduced dose to 0.625mg (approx.). 16 April 2018 0mg. Today I sat in a sauna, had hot showers. Sat in angora and ski thermals , hot water bottle, 2 duvets, heating at 30C and just used a hair dryer over the rest of my body and I'm still cold to the bone.  I don't know how to improve this symptom.

This happens to me too.  Seems to only pass with time and come back periodically.  I haven't found how to help it.

29y.o.  Started Lexapro, 15mg in 2013 for anxiety and depression.

9/28/15- Started taper, went down to 10mg, then 5mg by 10/31/15.

1/2016-  anxiety, nausea, fatigue, crying spells, sadness, by January. Reinstated back to 10mg.  Leveled out.   1/1/2018- Began further taper, down to 0mg by 1/31/2018.  Last dose was 2.5mg. Feelings of dizziness during taper recommended by pdoc.  Slowed down taper, but still had symptoms of stomach upset.

2/12/18 - Dealing with symptoms of dizziness, anxiety, sadness, stomach upset.  2/20/18 - Reinstating medication with .6mg.  2/21/18 - Emotionally feeling better.  Dizziness much improved.  2/24/18 - Went to sleep with extreme feeling of chills.  No fever.  Fatigue.  3/19/18 - Increased anxiety.  5/1/18- Began therapy.  Have trouble with anxiety and GI symptoms.  9/22/18 - Decrease to .5mg.  Anxiety, GI, chills.  9/26/18 - back up to .6mg.  10/31/18 - app Curable, feeling distinct change in outlook and anxiety levels decreased.

2/1/19 - not seeing improvement in anxiety.  started 10mg Prozac  2/7/19 - up to 20mg Prozac, experiencing chills, tiredness  2/21/19 - tapering down to 10mg

Hello, India!

I'm so sorry to hear about your icy shivering. I know just how uncomfortable and frustrated you must feel. As far as I know, you are doing everything possible to warm up. I've had the same issue and even had to wear layers of clothing, including long underwear, in the middle of summer--90 degree weather.

Yes, and as far as I know again, lavendertealatte is right. It will go away but will take time. Everyone is different. I can finally say that for me, this particular symptom--along with bodily heat surges--is just about gone. Please know and believe deep down that this too shall pass for you. Hang on to hope and do your best to get through it.

Healing thoughts are coming your way from me,

Callie

Withdrawal syndrome can include temperature dysregulation. Temperature and muscle tension are regulated by the autonomic nervous system.

Magnesium might help for the muscle tension. I found acupuncture helpful for temperature dysregulation.

It's a good thing ibuprofen helps (it counters cortisol, which also contributes to muscle tension). Can you get sustained-release ibuprofen? Take with a bit of food or fish oil to coat the stomach.

@withhopeinmyheart it's saying ibroprofen to reduce cortisol?

I am getting this a lot, I find hot baths and showers very helpful. I get hot flushes too though. they aren't so bad

it is the cold shivers I find the worst. I have two showers and a bath at the mo and also go in the sauna after swimming

Fluoxetine 20mg a day, (mornings) Amitryptilline 10-50mg (evenings) for last two years (usually lowest dose of the latter) Previously on and off Fluoxetine since 1999. Off completely for pregnancies in 200s with no problems but recently more difficult to withdraw.End 2018 Tapered to 10mg Fluoxetine (am) and 10mg Amitryptilline (evening)Co-codomol 30/500 prescribed (one to two tabs 6 hrly as required for pain)

Start Jan 2019 5mg Fluoxetine mornings. Stopped amitryptilline.

6th Feb 2019 Stopped Fluoxetine, 2 X 425mg St Johns Wort daily.

9th Feb 2019 Reinstated 5mg Prozac, stopped SJW due to headaches and upset tummy.

10th Feb 2019 Started using liquid diluted Prozac and syringe, dividing doses (2 X 2.5ml) = 5mg daily

12th Feb 2019 Stopped prozac after even small doses seem to be causing a bad reaction.

17th Feb 2019 Started taking single dose 425mg SJW mornings

Also taking supplements: Multivitamin, Longvida Curcumin 500mg a day, Magnesium Citrate 500mg/day, Magnesium L-threonate 50mg/day, Omega 3 (with Vit E) 1000mg/day, Vitamin D3 20000IU

I started noticing hot flushes, sometimes with anxiety attacks, about 7 or 8 years ago.  I was taking risperidone then.

I struggle a lot in hot weather now, finding it very uncomfortable.  This hasn't improved since switching back to olanzapine in 2015.

Both these symptoms are persisting into withdrawal.  It's heartening to see people here reporting that it improves.

Inability to tolerate the heat limits my ability to exercise which is really frustrating.  There's a warning with the olanzapine not to exert yourself in the heat.

Australia + climate change + summer + dysregulation == hell on earth, lately.

Week after week of hot weather with just a tease of colder temps now and again has been pretty much non-stop discomfort for five months.  We are finally seeing something like autumn in Sydney just the last couple of days.  It's hard to explain how frustrating it's been, thinking the cooler weather had arrived, then having to deal with more heat.  My body just crashed for a couple of days in sheer relief.

Sleep quality degrades a lot when it's warmer, and sleep is one of the keys and challenges to getting off these chemicals ok.

Low body temperature

I am averaging a temp of 96.7.  Is this from WD or may I have something else going on?  The only thing I can find searching the internet is another controversial illness Wilsons temp syndrome.  Anyone having same issue?

Edited by ChessieCat

Lexapro 5mg titrated to 10mg 2016

CT Lexapro October 2018

No symptoms of WD / used cannibis daily

April 2019 Lexapro 5mg 3 days mild serotonin syndrome was told I had the flu and to stop lexapro and restart 2.5 when "flu" got better. Took 3 weeks!

May 2019 took 2.5mg Lexapro and woke up 2 hrs later in akathesia terror restless body paranoia manic horrible suicidal. Hospitalized on a 302. Given 10mg celexa and did okay until day 5 akathesia returned.  Ended up in ER dx drug withdrawal given 1mg ativan and released.

June 2019 Mirtazipine 7.5 one dose

June 2019 Pristiq 1 dose landed me in er and i was 302 inpatient put on lithium 150 2x daily and zyprexa 2.5 plus klonipin which refused to take.

July 2019 Hospitalized 302 given zoloft 25mg 3 days 50mg for 4 weeks. And ativan .5 only 1x at night took sporatically horrid side effects and akathesia... Fast taper down to 25 for one week 12.5 for one week then stopped.

November 11 started 2.5 olanz and 5mg prozac. Took 2.5 for 5 days then reduced to 1.25 for about 2 months. February went down to .66 for two weeks and felt ok then down to .33 for a few weeks and anxiety got really bad so went back to .66 and been there since. Still at 5mg prozac

@Callie Thank you so much for this encouragement. Struggling at the moment due to winter. The only time I felt warm this week was in the sauna after 20 minutes.. A very hopeful message.

After I started on venlafaxine and before I was put on any of the other drugs I began sweating excessively.  I was working out a lot then and of course I'd work up a sweat but this was different.  My workout clothes would be dripping wet even in cool weather.  In the last few years I've started having night sweats alternating with waking up freezing cold.  I can't tolerate being outside when it's hot now, not even the dry heat in Arizona.

I've always had cold hands and feet but about three years ago my toes began to turn completely white when they got cold and when I'd warm them up with a heating pad or in warm water they would change color to a dark bluish-purple.  It's really strange because there's a clear demarcation line at the base of each toe between the normal color and the odd color.

First time I've read about this, and it has been happening to me since quitting zyprexa cold turkey. I'm about 14 months into my withdrawals and I still experience, what I would describe as shooting shivers of hot/cold going up and down my body. I thought it was anxiety related. I used to get shivers down my spine when I listened to beautiful music or watched a lovely scene etc, but now, I get these intense shootings of strange sensations that happen often each day...

Reason for Medication

Anxiety (money problems, future, lack of physical safety, dangerous environment) causing mild insomnia.

Summary

2010 - Lexapro - (took one tablet (vomiting, tremors, high anxiety) stopped without any issues)

2013 - Cymbalta - (60mg daily for 7 months - cold turkey without any major issues aside from nausea/vomiting, "brain zaps" and dizziness)

2013 - Seroquel - (a low dose for roughly 1 month - weight gain of 20kg, cold turkey because of rapid weight gain without any issues)

2018 - September 4th - (Cymbalta 20mg for two days, stopped due to tremors & anxiety)

2018 - September 9th - (Olanzapine 2.5mg until October 3rd, then 5mg once, then back to 2.5mg once, then took random varying doses every day for a week from 2.5mg up to 5.0mg due to panic caused by the drug, then I attempted withdrawal Cold Turkey (recommenced at lower dose after 4 days of trying to withdraw Cold Turkey - I took 0.625mg every night until I finally successfully stopped cold turkey roughly one week later).

This is a "NEW" symptom for me.

I never used to feel the cold, and during the cold spells this winter I have felt absolutely freezing, to the point I thought I had the flu.  Took my temperature and it was normal.

Wake up in the morning, and I am too hot, hair is damp as though I have had night sweats.

Also, if the heating is too high in the room where I do yoga, I find it way too hot and start over-heating.  And I mean dripping with sweat.

My body appears to be going through its inventory of systems to fix.

Dose History: 19 Feb 2014 - Escitalopram 10mg daily June 2015 - Started taper, 5mg every other day July 2015 - 5mg every 2 days August 2015 - 5mg every 3 days September 2015 - 5mg every 4 days Sept 14th - Completed tapering, but at 7 weeks "drug free" I suffered serious WD symptoms as a consequence of "incorrect" tapering. Nov 25 2015 - Re-instated Cipralex @ 2.5mg daily. WD symptoms faded. Held at this dose and experienced "windows and waves". 12 Oct 2017 Reduced dose to 1.25mg. 13 Mar 2018 Reduced dose to 0.625mg (approx.). 16 April 2018 0mg. Windows and waves triggered by stress (IBS/reflux, headaches, sinus issues) Aug 2019 Mirena coil fitted 6 Jan 2020 MAJOR Wave hit 19 months following last dose (protracted WD).  Symptoms listed below Mar 2020 Mirena coil removal.

This temperature dysregulation (hot flashes only) seems to be my main wd symptom at this time. Oddly enough my periods stopped the same month I started my taper at age 56. So I’m sure menopause plays a major role in this as well. Every time I do a taper the hot flashes get more frequent and intense. The hot flash is preceded by a sick and nauseous feeling  for about a minute or two accompanied by a flash of anger and depression. Once the hot flash is over  I’m no longer feeling sick or angry or depressed. They are especially bad when I’m in a wave. the worst part is they interfere with my sleep significantly.  When they are bad they happen every 15 or 20 minutes. My theory is that the ad wd messes with my hormones.  the menopause and wd probably compound each other.  Ad wd is the most illogical thing. I didn’t have a significant uptick in wd symptoms until 3 weeks After this last taper. So I probably won’t do another taper until at least 5 or 6 weeks after the previous taper if I’m stabilized. Lately I’ve been waking up at about 4 am and having hot flashes every 20 minutes or so which makes it very difficult to go back to sleep. I cope by telling myself it could be worse and that this too shall pass. Acceptance is key.

Please do not private message me.  Only tag me for urgent questions about tapering and reinstating - thank you.

The question of whether WD compounds peri-meno/meno/post-meno has been an ongoing one on this forum.

Since ADs mess with the endocrine (hormonal) system (and every other system in the body), then it would only make sense that those of us going through "the change" would suffer even more.

I woke up too hot last night, then a few weeks ago, felt freezing cold and couldn't get warm.  Outside temperatures were lower for sure, but I had to have a hot water bottle constantly refilled with freshly boiled water to keep myself from suffering too much throughout the day.

It DOES pass, as at the time, when I thought I had the flu; I thought I would feel that miserable the rest of the winter, and I haven't.

Lately , I have to have the heating on to 30C to sleep without feeling like the cold is knifing me. As I can’t work it’s causing me to go into debt.  I could easily tolerate it much much hotter. Last year, one day it was 35C at night and hit 40C . It was the only time I actually felt like I was comfortable and warm enough. Everyone was sweating and couldn’t tolerate it. I didn’t break a sweat.

Feeling any cool air causes me to feel a panic - as if triggering my fight or flight.

Feeling cold all the time is tortuous.

I also wonder if the brain confuses it’s sensory info.. so that sometimes I don’t know if I am feeling chilled or pain and so on..

Also, although conceptually I know those getting hot flushes or too hot must be suffering I feel jealous as I can never get warm ever and i live in a cold climate. I imagine cold showers would help those getting too hot?? . This was also going on during med use but even more extreme now.

If anyone relates ?

Heat intolerance and antipsychotics seem to be a real thing. I am having problems with temp just above 20c. Excessive sweating and having hard timr cooling down.

-2012  January started Olanzapine 5mg, 7mg, 10mg, 25mg (2 months), 10mg (long time),5mg.

-2016 June 15th quit Olanzapine from 5mg to 0mg CT.

Sorry about your heat intolerance @Mewmewkitty. I have opposite: I have cold intolerance from WD and it’s my longest-lasting symptom. Such a strange thing.

@India I can relate somewhat to your earlier comment. I find it very difficult to bear cold temperatures, including air conditioning and sustained temperatures below 68 F (20 C). I always have to bring layers of clothes with me but most noticeably I always wear earmuffs or a hat because my head is perpetually colder than the rest of my body. Almost as if the thermoregulatory setpoint of my head is different from the rest of the body. Even on the hottest summer day earmuffs or ear coverings are essential.

The upside is my hands are always warm. I think it’s a combo of keeping my ears warm and wearing socks that keep my hands warm.

Apr 2018: Began 10 mg Amitriptyline (for headaches & insomnia from concussion).

Jul - Aug 2018: Fast taper to 5 mg and then 2.5 mg (too fast, hellish withdrawal at 2.5 mg). Sept 2018: Reinstated 10 mg (many symptoms improved). Oct 2018 - Apr 2019: Updosed & stabilized on 11 mg (2 waves at 3 and 5 months post-withdrawal). Apr 2019 - Apr 2020: Tapered 0.5-0.25 mg per month using compounded pills: 11 mg —> 6 mg. (2 waves at 12 and 16 months post-withdrawal.) Apr 2020 - present: Switched to a liquid taper at rate of 0.1 mg per month. Currently: 1.1 mg. No more waves.

Supplements: Omega-3 fish oil, Vit B12, coenzyme Q10, Hawthorn extract (for tachycardia) Tools for insomnia/waves (as needed): Epsom salt foot soaks, 0.5 mg Melatonin, quality time, waves WILL PASS. Lifestyle: Eat real foods, mostly plants; sunlight, walking, yoga; symptom tracking on adapted Glenmullen chart.

Interesting reading this thread. I think Venlafaxine stops me from sweating when it's hot. We've got a heatwave here in London at the moment, and I'd normally be breaking out in a sweat....but hardly a drop. It's very odd and unnatural.

So am avoiding being in strong sun altogether, as I can't quite tell if I'm overheating or not.

January 2008 to April 2015 Citalopram 20mg to 5mg, reducing in 50 per cent leaps. Jumped off at 5mg

March 2016 used MDMA triggered setback

April 2016 Citalopram 10mg October 2016 cut to 5mg, May 2017 cut to 2.5mg

May 2018 used MDMA triggered setback

June 2018 Citalopram 2.5mg up to 10mg, then back to 5mg

July/ August 2018 7.5mg, then 10mg

June 2019 updosed to 20mg Citalopram

August 2019 cold switch to Venlafaxine 75mg XR

Supplements; 1100mg fish oil daily; also 100mg Magnesium Glycinate. Tried Vagifem 10mcg from mid May 2021 to mid June 2021; caused depression, so stopped.

Temperature disregulation still is one of the weirdest symptoms I have. I've had hot flashes and sweating throughout withdrawal, but since the beginning of this year, my waves have changed. Now at the peak of my waves, I have several days of severe fatigue, heart pounding, a burning sensation, headaches and feeling extremely hot. When someone feels my forehead they can actually feel the heat. Yet when I take my temperature it is always normal. Sometimes the feeling fluctuates between beeing too hot and too cold, but usually it's heatwaves. I'm nowhere near menopause and my menstrual cycle is like clockwork. It's the strangest thing. I use cool packs to ease the symptoms, and somehow that seems to calm my body down as a whole. But in general all I can do is wait til it passes.

Funny thing is, I used to be a person that was always too cold. I was always the one who turned the heater on, needed the extra blanket. Now in withdrawal its the opposite. I can't remember what it was like before meds though...

I guess it is worth chipping in here too. Hot flashes have been one of my most noticeable symptoms (and I'm a man, so no menopause issues). I often wake up very early (4-5), which is apparently caused by a cortisol spike, and I'm very hot. I now sleep with  an air conditioner blasting at the bed, which is pretty absurd. I've also slept with those gel packs draped on my chest or the back of my neck (where I feel all my symptoms somehow come from). Being outdoors in the heat is very difficult. The flashes can be, but are not always, connected to psychological matters too. If I felt particularly panicky or stressed, I'd get a bad hot flush which would slowly diminish and, eventually, I'd feel a bit better. Now the really strong flushes seem to have died down or mellowed into a gradually accumulating heat, rather than a quick blast. What is so frustrating about all of this is the difficulty in linking symptoms to causes, because there are so many simultaneous potential causes. I went for a run yesterday - but maybe that exercise was a trigger? Or the food I ate? Or the magnesium I didn't take? Or the ... etc.

Was in the big smoke today and there was some kind of mix-up with the train.  So I had to walk 5 kms in 30+ degree heat within about 40 mins.  I did need a few swigs of water but was remarkably free of discomfort, aside from the usual just feeling hot anyone would get.  No faint periods, no super heavy sweats, no heavy limbs, no undue fatigue.  Very encouraged by this.  I did start working out last week so I'm sure the cardio boost contributed, but it feels like a good sign.

Promising news, hayduke!  Meanwhile, the fires and heat sound ominous.  How fast climate change is upon us....

I have experienced terrible problems with overheating, sweating, flushing, etc.  As I go into my 25th month from zero, it does seem that even though it's not gone completely, it's much better.

This is another one of my symptoms in WD along with the morning cortisol anxiety..

Here are my patterns on this -

1.  Happens more often when there is a rapid change in temperature.. eg. being in 90-100 weather outside and getting into the AC.,  when there is a sudden warm spell in the middle of winter like we are having now, or when the season changes..

2. I seem to be fine being outside in hot or cold weather - my body seems to adjust to it fine.

3. Indoors is where I get extremely sensitive - especially when I am trying to rest/sleep..  Everything that I do eg. changing rooms/beds, meditation/breathing, and whatever the skin comes in contact with eg. the bed covers, the fabric material on my bed and clothing, sunlight hitting my body, wind drafts from the air vents and fans or even my partner moving in bed.

4. My BP is usually up when I have these symptoms.. When it is cold,  I get chills/spasms, and it is worse when lying down. I have to get up and walk around to feel warmer as the BP drops. However, when it hot, lying down and breathing cools the body, and BP comes down.

5. When this happens, my gut, legs and sinuses/head can also react - gut gets more active/bloat/gas/burping/pain,  leg pain/tingling,  sinuses get blocked/head pressure, and more anxiety/fear/agitation.

6. Having a Bowel Movement can have a drastic change in symptoms (usually calms it down, and I no longer feel the sensitivity.

To me, it appears that the autonomic nervous system gets very confused trying to balance sympathetic and parasympathetic activation, and either gets stuck in one mode or rapidly fluctuates.

The most interesting thing is the best time for me to catch some sleep is when I am symptom free and the environment feels just right.. which is my living room couch after dinner. I drift off to sleep and get about 2-3 hours before I wake up.. And that's when it gets harder to get back to sleep..  and I get lost trying to figure out what variable triggered it..   because its not consistent.. which makes me think that it's a WD wave.. It lasts 2-3 nights and then I am more tolerant.

My usual coping mechanisms so far

- Set the temp constant indoors in all rooms (which doesn't work too well except for the living room, as my bedroom gets too hot/cold due to high ceilings / south-facing, and the single vent coming in doesn't seem to distribute the heat/cold evenly.)

- Try and get to bedroom earlier, when sleepy instead of the couch. This is a hit or miss as I now have to deal with the skin sensitivity to the bed covers. I have three layers - 2 cotton and one polyester throw.  I can get by in summer with just the cotton covers, but the throw makes me heat up rapidly, and when the heat kicks in during the night, its way too much, and if I don't use it, as I fall into sleep, my body temp drops and it gets too cold. I try to use the throw on the body when I am really cold, and as a top layer when I need it.

- Wear the right clothes - I switch between full and half sleeves, shorts & full length pants, cotton and wool socks, but again it is a hit or miss.. especially when switching  after having gotten used to the other for a while.

- Find the right sleep position to avoid BP spikes - torso and feet up on pillow etc..  Again a hit or miss. Sleeping on my back can get the get active, and while sleeping on my right side is my normal position, I can't settle into it when I am temp sensitive.

My question is what can we do to reduce this sensitivity?   Any other fabrics to try? Other tools?

The other interesting aspect of this is that I feel colder or warmer indoors than when I am outdoors even though it is colder or hotter. Given that we live in insulated houses, I guess that's a normal reaction, but in w/d, I am a lot more sensitive to it.

This is a good primer on sleep  -

What specific fabrics do you use for your bed and clothing through the seasons, and how do you transition to minimize the sensitivity?

One important aspect of this sensitivity is that the feet, gut, torso and head could all feel different. This is where general recommendations don't work as well.
