Anyone suffer from this Allodoxaphobia? Is this a form of OCD? I'm at my breaking point with this and getting scared.

Could this be a symptom of polydrugging?

@Mountainsky

Anything goes when it comes to WD.  Have you had a chance to look  on Symptoms and Self-Care part of this form?  You will find a lot of crazy thinking going on...OCD, obsessing, intrusive thoughts,  Are brains are so confused right now..

temporary chemical brain injury.   the drugs have changed the way our brains work and now it is trying to find it's self again.

I came up with a horrible obsession and some ocd.  If you had any self negativity and distorted thought now it is going to be morphed and out of control at times...

http://What is happening in your brain?

http://Sudden fear, terror, panic, anxiety, or sensory overload from withdrawal

http://Obsessive compulsive disorder or OCD: Repetitive intrusive thoughts, compulsive behaviors

As far as something coming from poly  drugging.  These drugs can do anything to our brains and body.....Even on them they can create crazy thoughts, emotion, etc. Did it just start?

Are you still tapering?   Is your signature up to date?

Started to taper on March 13th  my birthday. Crushed pills, weighed and put them in veggie capsules. Started zoloft 100 to 90mg.It was getting too tedious and time consuming, my hands would shake and it was getting messy. So I just dissolved the pills in liquid and measured with an oral syringe. Been doing that since but I'm on alot of meds for lyme disease and coinfections so it's getting really hard remembering to take and measure my Zoloft. Sometimes I'm skipping 4 days worth. My memory is bad. I'm on 80 mg now of Zoloft

@Mountainsky  I am so sorry you a going through all this...

Are you having a hard time remembering to take you Zoloft? Can you put a reminder in your phone?  Do have someone in that lives with you to help.....

Is there a time in the day that you are stronger and could measure out a week's worth of pills.  Or maybe someone could do it with you...How about liquid Zoloft?

Be kind to yourself..  You are doing the best that you can right now..  These stupid drugs sure make a mess out of our brains..

 You can heal.

No I work fulltime and when I'm home during the weekend I'm too exhausted to weigh and fill capsules. The liquid zoloft was horrible, I did it months ago and my stomach was a mess so I had to go back on the pills form.

@Mountainsky OH man you are in a bind.. Congratulations on working fulltime.. that is quite an accomplishment when in WD and sick with Lyme's disease.  No wonder you are exhausted.

I hope you can find a way figure it  how to remember to take it everyday.  The memory can cause problems.  Mine gets bad too.  I have forgotten to take my  meds a time or two also.

It's horrible. I have a new lyme doctor now and I'm on a different treatment protocol. It's alot. Lots of prescriptions and supplements that I must take. The supplements have to be "clean" and allergen free... its alot of $. All appointments  tests are out of pocket too....in this economy it's a nightmare. I have to work fulltime I haveno choice. I love my job so its worth it. Sadly it's the only positive thing in my life and that keeps me going.

Hi Mrmiyag,

thank you for sharing and reaching out on your lyme journey. I'm on Rifampin ( starting slow on that) and Minocycline for antibiotics. Nystatin for yeast. Oil of Oregano, monolaurin Japanese knotweed, Crypto-Plus ( both herbs going slow too).  Going to start antihistamines too ( alot of money need to wait on). I have a big problem with histamine. Currently doing over the counter usual cheap H1 and H2 blockers. I do not wish this disease on anyone.

Would I be able to just weigh 1 tablet instead of crushing/weighing/packing veggie capsules?   I could weigh 1 tablet  figure out the dosage and cut slivers to equal the new dose?  I'm still on 80 mg of Zoloft.

I was going to ask my psych NP if I could get my Zoloft through a compound pharmacy but they don't take insurance. Its a joke submitting stuff to insurance waiting for reimbursement.

I'm a mess right now from Lyme treatment. I hate taking all these meds and supplements. My anxiety is through the roof, summer and thd heat always throws it in over drive. My night terrors are back too.

That would work fine, it's a bit tricky to hit an exact weight though. Some people find rubbing with a nailfile works well for very small adjustments.

20 years on Paxil starting at 20mg and working up to 40mg. Sept 2011 started 10% every 6 weeks taper (2.5% every week for 4 weeks then hold for 2 additional weeks), currently at 7.9mg. Oct 2011 CTed 15oz vodka a night, to only drinking 2 beers most nights, totally sober Feb 2013.

Since I wrote this I have continued to decrease my dose by 10% every 6 weeks (2.5% every week for 4 weeks and then hold for an additional 2 weeks). I added in an extra 6 week hold when I hit 10mg to let things settle out even more. When I hit 3mgpw it became hard to split the drop into 4 parts so I switched to dropping 1mgpw (pill weight) every week for 3 weeks and then holding for another 3 weeks.  The 3 + 3 schedule turned out to be too harsh so I cut back to dropping 1mgpw every 4 weeks which is working better.

Final Dose 0.016mg.     Current dose 0.000mg 04-15-2017

Has anyone noticed while taking Zoloft ( or any other SSRI) weight gain? I've been on Zoloft since October 2020. Highest dose at 100mg. Started to officially go really slow tapering this past March, now at 75mg. My weight gain is really getting noticeable esp in my midsection . I recently bought new clothes for work and now need to go back out and get bigger sizes AGAIN.

My daughter (37) has always been very tiny (petite like a pixie) and recently started on Zoloft and gained weight.  So for her, yes it did cause weight gain.

Has anyone had success with DNRS? The program looks pricey and for some can be intense. I have seen people on these boards as well as Benzobuddies say it really saved them.

Thank you Greatful! This anxiety is really getting unbearable. It's a combination of situational too and stuff from my past that keeps giving me intrusive thoughts. It's so much worry and fear I have, alot about my future in the short and long term. My brain is wired to constantly think negative and always the worst case scenario. It's so easy for ppl to tell you to think positive or get distracted but I really believe need to look down other avenues with this. I have no idea what's normal anymore.  I'm really suffering and it seems to be getting much worse. My anxiety seems to always go in overdrive too during summer.

I had a thought last night, and if it gets shot down well that's fine but this is what I believe I need to look into for myself.

I've come to realize ( as many of us have) psych drugs did nothing for me. Again all of us have been in that desperate situation for relief that we gave into these God awful pills. I have an extensive history of taking antipsychoics, benzos and SSRIS.

I am currently tapering Zoloft. My highest dose was 100mg ( on 75mg currently, began the official taper in March) I understand and respect the Ashton Method 10%/4 week.

However, calculating how long it'll take me to go to zero it'll be another year and a half to get to 0mg. I haven't been on zoloft long, started  October of 2020. It seems it's gonna take longer to taper and still be on these meds then from when I began the med!

I feel awful. My weight has good up crazy. I'm on other meds too for Lyme Disease and some coinfections. I believe I have an issue with parasites,  thryoid hornones and mold. I feel it's in my best interest to up my taper a bit quicker. Alot of my anxiety is situational. I believe this Zoloft is only harming me more.

I have a great relationship with my Psych NP and she's been very supportive of my 10%/4 week taper. My next followup appt with new isn't until the very end of August even though she assures me if I ever needed her or had a question to call her office sooner.

2009-2018, Paxil 40 mg. Tapered-0mg in 6 weeks.

October 2020-May 2021

Zoloft, 25mg, 50mg, then 100mg. Tapered 25mg a week then 0mg less than a month. July 2021-Current.  Zoloft reinstated  25mg 1 week , 50 mg 1 week later, 100mg 2 weeks later.

Hello.

I noticed your post and feel compelled to respond.

In regards to a fast(er) taper, as part of looking into this for yourself, might I suggest reading this excellent essay by brassmonkey.

The whole essay is worth reading carefully, and given your current deliberations, you might want to pay particular attention to chapter 8:

I can share from personal experience that I did a too-fast taper off of an SSRI back in 2018 and am still paying a very high price for it.

This month makes 4.5 years of debilitating withdrawal symptoms, and 4 years of protracted withdrawal syndrome.

I don't recommend it to anyone.

I'm sorry you feel awful.

I can relate to issues, e.g. anxiety, being situational, as well as the belief that a medication is harmful.

I don't know anything about you or your life or what it's like to be you.

All I can say is that withdrawal symptoms can be absolutely brutal and crippling, and they will not help any pre-existing situational anxiety in any way.

On the contrary, withdrawal symptoms make everything so much worse.

If I could re-do my incorrect taper I would do a very slow taper, something like the Brassmonkey Slide, and aim to get off of drugs with minimal to no withdrawal symptoms.

Once withdrawal syndrome sets in there's very little that can be done to course correct. I don't wish my own circumstance on anyone.

Best of luck to you, Mountainsky (what a lovely profile name, by the way).

I wish you peace and faith on your continuous healing journey <3

In solidarity and support,

A.

Thank you.

I know very well about WD. I was on Paxil for almost 10 years and in late 2018/early 2019 I tapered. I went from 40 mg to 0mg in a matter of not even 8 weeks ( yes i know not good). I believe Paxil WD is my biggest problem. It's been 3.5 years since my very last Paxil pill.

Congratulations on getting off of Paxil!

3.5 years of rough WD road behind you. Well done.

That's a big achievement. I hope you give yourself lots of credit.

Wouldn't that make it even more relevant to go gently with your Zoloft taper, so as not to rock the boat?

You've already come so far and worked so hard.

Yeah, I gathered as much from what you wrote:

I still think you deserve a hearty congratulations, though. Don't you?

It's hard work going through protracted withdrawal for so many years, toughing it out one day at a time.

In my book that's an achievement. I give you lots of credit for making it this far.

How do you feel about it?

I think you have every reason to feel proud of yourself for your considerable efforts and perseverance.

I am trying to extend my support <3

If we were together in person I'd offer you a hug, but since we only have words here, I'll say:

I know I am new to your thread, Mountainsky.

I don't presume to know you or your story.

I'm just picking up on a few elements that I see from here:

A very brave, tenacious fighter who works full-time while battling Lyme and WD and any number of other adverse circumstances.

What's happening to me and my life? Having severe severe worry and fear right now. This has lasted a few days. So scared my fears of worst case scenarios are going to be true and are going to happen. I don't know if these are intrusive thoughts, irrational fears or derelization. So much negative thinking and what ifs. I'm in bed right now shaking so bad and feeling Iike I'm going to vomit.

I'm so sorry to read you're experiencing intense symptoms.

It sounds like you might be in a wave.

Neuro-worry, neuro-fear, intrusive thoughts, rumination, cognitive distortions, shaking, nausea are all common WD symptoms.

Remember this is temporary, it will pass.

Hang in there, Mountainsky. Be kind to yourself, go gently.

Practice whatever non-drug coping techniques you can and rock the self-care.

Sometimes taking a freezing cold shower can jolt me into relief. Or filling a bowl with ice-cold water and plunging my face in.

This can confuse sensations in a good way and provide helpful distraction.

What has worked for you before?

What are your favorite tools in your toolkit?

Hi Ariel,

Thank you for the kind words. ❤️  To be honest,  I feel talking about it helps.

I know worry is a common thing for many ppl even healthy ppl, it's a part of life unfortunately. However with ppl in withdrawal and dealing with other chronic diseases/disorders it goes a step further, Some might disagree and not have that symptom.

I've found with myself it's almost like an obsession that I can't let go of a particular worry. It'll go away eventually but then another will appear. Ugh.

I see posts from others that get worried of their future. I'm very much concerned with  I am a 37yr old single woman with no interest to go back out into the dating world anytime soon,  not with the way I feel. However I feel sometimes it's too late. As a woman I feel pressure as eventually I want to get married and have a child but I feel the more time that goes by its not going to happen. You can find love at any age and be married, but to have children the clock's ticking.  I feel very torn.  I cannot imagine having a child now, I would struggle so much and I know it would be unfair for that child having a mom that's in physical and mental pain all the time, that's another reason why I have no interest in the moment to date. The thought of being in a relationship right now gives me more anxiety. I literally only have the energy currently to work, and that's it.  I'd give anything to go back in time to 10 yrs ago.
