@Colonial I’m taking 146 beads, and I’m 27 years old. I’ve had loads of test done and I’m healthy in that sense. Just some hormone issues. I don’t ovulate w/o the bc pill. Which I’m not taking.

I see.

When did you stop the BC and how long were you on it?

That's a hormonal disrupter big time, no wonder your having a rough go of it.

These are incredibly hard issues, you don't want to become pregnant while on the med OR in WD, but being on it can disrupt your whole system and delay how fast you can taper. Then if you go of it, it can take extended periods of time to readjust.

I know one NON WD person who was on it from when she got married at 22 until she was 27 when they wanted to start trying to get pregnant, and it was no go until she was 33! It ended up costing them the 3rd child they never got to have but wanted because it took 6 years for her to conceive and carry to term

@Colonial wow! That’s incredible!
I stopped birth control pill last July 2020.
Today was a better day, a mix between headache and dizzy. Emotionally okay.
I’m wondering if it’s the hormone issue that is causing me to have a hard time tapering? Also hormones which caused me so much pain this past weekend from break through bleeding!  However was fine until December when I got really sick! I don’t know if I can even continue tapering I feel like it’s not in my cards to come off Effexor. It’s so so so hard! I was doing so well and held for 3 months and still crashed!

Absolutely, this is the first I've heard you mention it and it's not in your signature line for drug usage.

This is one of the reasons why we ask everyone to be honest about ALL medications and drugs they have been taking during the past 2 years when they fill out their signature.  Birth control is a significant piece of info that most definitely helps explain why you have probably been having a difficult time.

Your body is trying to do 2 things at once, re balance from coming off the birth control and withdraw at the same time.

I think you will be able to get off the med, you just need to wait until your hormones have stabilized.

I  think that's what has complicated this.

You should contact your doctor to see how long it usually takes for that to happen coming off birth control after being on it for a significant time.

@Colonial I’m sorry, I really didn’t think it was a key information!
so many factors at play now that I think of it and I never realized it!
I have spoken to him about this - as I questioned how long to be off birth control before trying for a baby and he said 3 months average. Sometimes 6 months. After 6 months I still didn’t get my cycle so I called and got referred to a gyno. There- they did many tests and everything came back in normal range and totally healthy. I left them a voicemail today to let them know about this situation with some breakthrough spotting in case he wants me in.

It your cycles were normal before going on it, the fact that your still irregular this far out  shows that 3 months is, well, like my acquaintance, not realistic.

Everyone here pretty much has waves from their cycles so it's a huge issue for women in wd.

The good news is, your off it, and eventually you will be able to taper, but it's probably pointless trying to torture yourself now if even 1 bead is an issue.

Once your cycles are back to semi regular may be a good sign that you can re taper.

I joined here as the administrator of the group raves about this site and how much knowledge the moderators have here! Especially since I’m always loaded with questions to learn!

thank you so much again for another chat! You are a kind kind soul! ❤️

Well @Colonial, it’s like as soon as I hit a high I get punched down again.
I leveled out from the hormone haywire- and started feeling good.. when bam.. my work is starting vaccine mandates.
I feel that my system is so sensitive I won’t be able to handle this. I’ve looked through this website at others posts, and sure enough others have struggled after the shot. After much reading I’m terrified!
although it seems the consensus is that after a few weeks many settle down. Talk about stress after stress! I’m really beginning to start to considering abolishing my taper and going back to my OG dosage. I can’t catch a break here!

Going back to full dosage after WD can do more harm than good.

We see it here time and time again where people crash, and their doctor reinstates them at full dose and their worse than if they had stayed off or took a smaller amount. If you have basically been around the 145 bead mark for 10 months, going back to 256 beads isn't going to "fix" your withdrawal. Your system needs time to heal, not more drugs.

The shots are causing problems for people regardless of WD or not. Some very serious, some temporary. Like any medical procedure, there are risks and you need to dig deep or find alternative media sources to listen to those who were affected by them. It's not unreasonable for any medical treatment, whether anti-biotics or a shot that's designed to cause an immune response to cause a wave. If you don't feel you want to gamble on the risks, you need to decide what your options are for exemptions, if any, and if your job is still even going to be around in another 6-9 months to begin with. There are people who feel betrayed because it seems too coincidental that vaccine mandates were put in place, people took them that didn't want them, and then lo and behold 50% of the company was let go, and they find out the company knew the lay offs were happening BEFORE the mandates, basically forcing people to take shots to keep their jobs, not knowing they weren't going to have a job much longer anyway.

Now, surely, that's not all company's but it is an issue popping up from place to place, so you may want to think of if you even want to stay at that particular employment to begin with if they enforce that sort of pressure on shots that show to decline in effectiveness within 6 months, and is this going to turn into a "yearly mandate", constantly needing boosters, etc., or with the way the worlds economy is going, is your particular job even still going to be around come March? Those are all individual issues each person has to research and decide for themselves.

yes time to heal! I absolutely agree!

Luckily, I am a core employee as a dental receptionist. But all great questions to ask myself!

I just wish I never crashed - I mean obviously- but I am so sick and tired of being sick and tired. I want my life back 😥

Don't live spinning your wheels trying to get well to live in the past.

Our old lives are what they were, We were who we were, for a short time. Neither they nor we  come back.

All we can do is strive to understand how the future is shaping in front of us and make the best deal of it that we can.

If at any time the understanding that returning to a past is not realistic, it should be now in the great upheaval of the world all around is.

Things will not be going back to "normal", to what they were, planning to heal so you can go back to "your old life" is probably not realistic.

We so often think ourselves in charge of Our destiny and become unsettled when life throws us a curve ball.

@Colonial I had a doctor appointment yesterday and was discussing various things. She brought up the Effexor and I ended up telling her everything. She was completely unaware what I have been doing. She empathized with me, that Effexor is one of the hardest drugs to come off of. She is suggesting I bridge. To Zoloft. For the longer half life.

i have been doing some research about bridging. And have found some can and some can’t. I have also read while withdrawals are present the bridge won’t work.
I just would like your opinion in this situation, would I be playing with fire here?
I said, what if I get down to the lowest dose of Effexor and stay there. She said “you have told me you can’t taper 1 bead so how do you plan to do that”

… she’s not wrong. But is she right?
-edit

she did say we would do it extremely slow

edit again

- is this kindling?

I think your still dealing with the hormonal issues from the birth control and that is likely making the taper problematic for now.

You also just stopped rupall in September.

Changing while your still symptomatic is likely very unwise, I would not contemplate that until stable.

The Bridge is always a gamble and an issue of caution.

It may not be necessary if you give yourself enough time to heal first.

Only Goodness knows what will happen if you try to switch meds while actively symptomatic.

All I did was change the formulation of my Paxil while unstable and it almost killed Me, literally.

I can't see how bridging to a new med while taking out another i your current state is a good idea.

Does this doctor have a plan with some form of justified intent?

As in, does She have any reasonable plan for this taper she is taking from other success stories and formulas, and or sending you to a specialist?

Or does she just plan on making it up as the 2 of you go along?

@Colonialyour absolutely right I’m likely dealing with some hormone issues. I feel as though I’m getting worse, not better. Almost always anxious.
She is wanting to inquire with her colleagues for the best plan of action. She said she nearly always bridges her patients when they are struggling and it goes smooth. I’m really glad I asked you before I went ahead with this. It has caused me a great deal of anxiety, sending me on the verge of a panic attack almost all day. Even just the thought of it. I’m going to call her tomorrow.

@Colonial

I really hope she reciprocates this as now she knows everything. Broke down in her office crying and told her everything. About you guys, the Facebook group, the horror stories, what had been happening to me, my symptoms. I really want to hold until after the holidays and see how I feel. After 4 months of holding I should feel great, I feel like I’m only getting worse. However Ive also been pretty stressed with the vaccine mandates at work and now mulling this over and then of course my surprise cycle. Desperate to just get off this train. It’s been 10..11 months this weekend, of being around 150 beads I should be in a much better state. But nope, here I am. Still stuck.
I will let you know how the phone conversation goes.

Does this rapid testing require something going into your nose or throat?

Or are you spitting into a tube?

If your letting them stick a swab with chemicals on the end of it up your nose every day, it's no wonder your not feeling well.

You need to make a decision on what has to come first, your health or your job.

"I am happily getting rapid tested daily."

Ok, that sounded present tense to me, as if you were already doing it.

Just remember dry and sterile does not preclude their being chemicals on them.

Most chemicals are dry and sterile, or there's no quality control for the functioning.

@Colonial update - spoke with my MD - she and I have come to an agreement. I am going to continue my tapering plan and not switch meds. She is supporting my slow tapering method. She encourages me not to touch my dose until the new year given current life stressors. I feel so good after talking to her!
However she has no idea about w/d and vaccines. Basically rolled her eyes at me. Which is fine. I’m sure I look like just another person looking for another medical exemption but I’m not- I’m actually concerned. I do not want to go back into severe w/d after so much accomplished! So still holding out on that!
effexor ruined Xmas last year, big time, I was barely functioning, but won’t get me this year! Soaking up all the joys of this time of year as much as I can!

Getting a wd exemption might be tricky but it's something worth looking into, even if you need a specialist.

If it's something you might want to try don't wait for a mandate deadline, inquire with a disabilities group.

It's very hard to get a legal medical admission of wd affecting other functioning without a lawsuit.

I had to take my insurance to court twice over compounding meds at lower levels.

But that's how you know "denying" prescriptions it's not about saving money.

They have no problem paying $300.00 a month for you to take something for life but when they refuse $45.00 a month for a 2 year taper?

It's an attempt to cover up how dangerous the med is.

They hope if your suffering so much waiting for a hearing you'll reinstate or dope up on something else so they an write it off as a psych event.

What they ended up with was atleast one $3,000 E.R. bill on them, maybe both of them was due to their intransigence.

Once I was in urgent car twice in a week and they got the bills well over $6,000 I seemed to get a hearing fairly quickly.

But this is how it is, you have to play hard ball and call their bluff, the hospital is just not somewhere you want to be in a plague.

So you trying to use one thing they don't want to admit for an exemption they already don't want to give for something else, it may be tough.

I discussed it with someone else last week

Told them they had a better chance at getting a religious exemption than a medical one based on wd induced hyper sensitivity.

I agree not toughing your dose for a few months is a good idea, especially since you dont know whats going on with the mandates.

So far so good. 🙂

@Colonial I know I’ll never get an exception. I am borderline still trying to figure out if I would choose to loose my job over it. I have a lot of thinking to do. My boss has agreed I don’t have to get it as long as it’s not mandated. I have until the dental colleges of Ontario mandate it. Which I don’t think they will to be honest. But I’m just a sitting duck until then!
