@jozeff Thank you for asking how I’m doing.  I’m okay.  Not better nor worse.  It still sucks a lot.  Im still plodding along.   I will stay strong.  Congrats on no boozing for 8.5 years!
@getofflex I do need to control the sugar.  Sometimes the cravings last a month or so.  I need to stop.  Thank you for kind words in that this won’t last forever.

Wow it’s been one year on this site.

Today marks 5 months since quitting completely.  Health wise this has been the worst year of my life.  Mentally it’s been incredibly challenging and some days I wonder how I’ve made it.

Not much has changed since last monthly check in.  However the past couple days have been pretty terrible with eye fatigue, sleepiness, head pressure, head ache and brain fog.  I’ve been super irritable as well.  I’ve been thinking about the sleep apnea I’ve been diagnosed with a couple years ago and wondering if the withdrawal makes it worse randomly for whatever reason.  I’m sure it does.  Part of me wants to get a new sleep study done but what happens if it is the withdrawal.

The sadness and weeping have gone down slightly this past month.  Ever so slightly.

The pelvic floor issues are still there.  I notice when my main withdrawal symptoms aren’t terrible the pelvic issues seem to get worse.  Or the neck issues come up.  I just can’t seem to get a good day in.  I just would like one headache, brain fog, pelvic floor, neck free day.

It’s very hard as others have experienced windows.  Many experience them.  It really brings the morale down as I feel I am in for a much longer recovery.  Then sometimes I question my recovery which isn’t good.

It’s just another meh sh*tty day here.

Hi Labrat15.  I’m at my 6 month mark of being completely off the drugs.
I feel as though I am ever so slightly improving in regards to the sadness and anxiety.  The worst symptoms are feeling very fatigued, some heart anxiousness, headaches, head pressure, dizziness, forgetful, can’t remember words or pronunciations.
I also had covid again late Aug.  I think the symptoms are still lingering from this along with allergy season.  Regardless, it hasn’t been a pleasant past three weeks.  My neck issue seems to be coming back or bothering me more.  The pelvic floor issues have gone away some.

Im scared that I won’t get better.  That this is the new normal.  I took a walk this morning and just felt crappy doing it.  I looked at other people and I was jealous as they are probably normal and have no cognitive issues.  Im tired of waking up everyday with what feels like a hangover.  I long to be myself and healthy again.   I hope my next monthly update in Oct is better.  Im banking on it as I have to turn the corner at some point.

Hi Labrat, Thank you for checking on me.  I have been progressing slightly better.  I'm still waking up feeling like I have a hangover.  Some days it goes away faster and others it lingers.  I don't feel as though I am getting as sad as I used to.  I'm still hoping that the brain fog goes away.  I have head aches, mental problems and feel down and out at times.  But things aren't getting worse.  This is good news.  I'm just trying to take it day to day.  I have a cruise coming up and I hope I feel well for that.  The girlfriend and I are doing great.  I will catch up on your thread shortly.  You are very kind.

@labrat15 Hi Labrat.  I’ve made some progress.  I have been thinking about posting on the site but I’ve been real busy lately.  Early December I went with my partner on a cruise.  Nov/Dec is always busy for me as I run an online retail store.
In regards to the withdrawal,  I am still plodding along.  I was feeling good on vacation and then I get back to reality and start feeling crappy again.  Crappy being I get a little more depressed,  anxious, head aches, vertigo, dizziness, tired, and cognitive issues.
I wonder if the vacation makes me feel better in that I’m producing more serotonin.  I think my body behind the scenes knows I should be feeling good.   It is so weird.  I do nothing different then when I’m home.  I also feel slightly better around my partner when I go spend the weekend at her house.
I’ll try and post more updates.  It’s been 9.5 months off drugs completely.

I wish the heightened cns and stress levels would just quit already.  Any bad news or stress is amplified by 100.  It’s saddening.  I’m coming up on 11 months off the drugs on Feb 19.  I can’t believe it’s almost going to be a year not taking the drugs.
I’m at the point now we’re I wonder if there is permanent damage and I will always be like this.  I’ve read it gets better after a year.  I pray I heal more in the next couple months.

I replied to your comment of my post. Honestly I don't want to recommend anything that might not help but I had huge success using sudafed. Some people use Benadryl with success but for me it made me worse but the sudafed worked and I can't even describe how much better I feel. Again don't want to try and convince you but but maybe trying a small dose of Benadryl or sudafed might help if you think it's worth a try...

Thank you for the recommendation.  It’s worth a shot.  I just need lower stress levels and I’ll be okay.  I think.

Hi @NeDaytoDayMJ stay hopeful !! I’m 13 months drug free and doing better. I believe that the second year drug free is when real healing happens and the majority mostly recover in the 2nd year (according to a withdrawal adviser at the council for evidence based psychiatry)

Sept 2021 - CT sertraline 25mg. told it was a 'placebo dose', knew nothing about the dangers or mechanism of these drugs

Nov 2021 - Jan 2022 - failed reinstatement attempt which exacerbated symptoms as it gave me severe serotonin syndrome, unrecognised by doctors who told me to double my dose (!!!!). this was a very awful period, was still trying to work and go to uni, eventually had to quit everything & move back in with family. horrific 'altered reality' symptoms of dissociation, hallucinations, insomnia, chemical dread, racing heart, agitation, nausea, burning & more

Jan 14th 2022 - 0mg SSRI

Currently, 2023: in recovery from drug-induced neurological dysfunction/PAWS. only meds- 10mg amitriptyline at night.

I think the seasonal allergies can really heighten my symptoms.  I’m also starting to wonder if some of the terrible sleepiness, headaches, and brain fog are from my lack of quality of sleep.
I feel like I’ve had a terrible hangover the past week.  This is daily.  I know allergy season is high and I’ve been sleeping with windows open since it’s so nice out.

I haven’t been mentally as sad lately.  It’s more physical.  I think next year when I have health insurance I’ll go in for a sleep study again.  I took one around 10 yrs ago and was diagnosed with mild apnea. I’ve since lost considerable weight but I still snore quite loud.  I’m 5’10” 170lb.  I used a cpap for about 30 days but found no benefit from it.

Just wanted to give an update.  I’m not I8 months off of the drugs. I probably feel 77 percent healed.
