Moderator Emeritus ChessieCat Posted August 3, 2022 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted August 3, 2022 Sorry to read that you are not doing very well. 8 minutes ago, Robynne said: I’ve gone back on 2.5 mg periciazine trying to feel better. Please remember that it takes time for a dose change to be registered by the brain. Depending on when you stopped the nexium and had the bad reaction to the Maxillon, you might want to try and wait for a while before trying a new drug if one is suggested (see next comment). 2 minutes ago, Robynne said: I’m presently waiting to go to psychiatrist on Friday Please be very careful if the psychiatric suggests any new drugs. Make sure you do your own research about possible side effects and drug interactions BEFORE taking anything, as well as how you would go off that drug later. Also be aware that some drugs are prescribed off label and some are psychiatric drugs (an example is Wellbutrin/buproprion which is used to help stop smoking). I would also suggest that if you do decide to try another drug to only start with a small dose; generally adverse reactions are dose related so testing with a small dose first to see how you respond may mean that if you do get an adverse reaction, once you stop the drug you might recover quicker. I genuinely wish you all the best. It's a horrible situation that you are in. Robynne
Had I felt, a good appointment at the nicest psychiatrist. He was very upset I went so suddenly off periciazine although careful he didn’t blame the gps. I changed the dose of that drug 5 times in 9 weeks, he said I totally scrambled my brain. He is very happy I stay on the 2.5 mg tablet but can’t promise I’ll stabilise, well not yet. He’s suggested another med to add but did not push it onto me and said it was my decision . He basically was very sad I’ve been suffering. I actually want to stabilise on my med as I’ve had many happy normal years on it. Today I feel calmer having had a kind ear who listened. The lesson for me has been choose your doctors carefully and you don’t have to believe what they say, and listen to your own body at all times as it is yours. Going to be positive from now on. 1 6 years ago put on 1 x 2.5mg periciazine Since 5 years ago Mizart once day b/press 10th June 2022 to 17th June half 2.5 periciazine and 15mg mirtazapine 18th June to 1st July no periciazine 15 mg mirtazapine 2nd July 22.5 mirtazapine- no sleep anxiety 3rd July no mirtazapine reinstated peri 6th July 2.5 periciazine 1 day 1/2 next 15th July changed to 3/4 Of 2.5 mg tablet periciazine every night- temaze 10 mg per night 1 maxilon 3 times a day now once a day 18th July - 1/4 peri at night 1/2 in morning Link to comment

Robynne
I’m not drinking just lots tea and zero alcohol drinks. I had really positive good day yesterday but woke in night with gastro and sore throat 🥴settling down this morning. My daughter and partner just rang me and have the same symptoms snd j stayed with them in last week. My intention is to go to a gastro specialist about taking nexium as I really don’t know if I need them? My anxiety and weird feeling has settled which is giving me a break thank god.

You probably don't "need" Nexium, but you went off too fast and you are having stomach acid rebound. If you take a quarter-tablet, this should abate. You will be able to quit the 1/4 tablet in a week or two, after your gut settles down. We don't offer general medicine services here. Robynne
The nexium was definitely my problem but my nausea has settled . The dosage change on my periciazine was done directly from doctors advising me what to do. I’m going to listen only to the pych who said to settle on my 2.5 tablet. 6 years ago put on 1 x 2.5mg periciazine Since 5 years ago Mizart once day b/press 10th June 2022 to 17th June half 2.5 periciazine and 15mg mirtazapine 18th June to 1st July no periciazine 15 mg mirtazapine 2nd July 22.5 mirtazapine- no sleep anxiety 3rd July no mirtazapine reinstated peri 6th July 2.5 periciazine 1 day 1/2 next 15th July changed to 3/4 Of 2.5 mg tablet periciazine every night- temaze 10 mg per night 1 maxilon 3 times a day now once a day 18th July - 1/4 peri at night 1/2 in morning Link to comment
Robynne
My update is I’m up and Down like a yo yo ! Yesterday was completely good thought I had my life back now today back to anxiety and nausea, wondering if I’ll ever stabilise on the 2.5 mg periciazine. I’m even questioning the herbal teas I drink. I just can’t bring myself to take the Seroquil tablet up on my cupboard that pych gave me, researched that and sounded too scary. I’ve have another script waiting at the gp for something the pych sent but he said that was my decision, well at this stage I want to completely hold off. I’d be happy just stabilising as I was happy on peri drug for years just had a minor anxiety attack on Occassion from trauma events. Just want to feel better it’s been nearly 3 months again.
Moderator Emeritus ChessieCat Posted August 11, 2022 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted August 11, 2022 If it was me I would definitely not be adding in any more drugs. You have had a lot of changes in a very short period of time. And there is no knowing what adding a new drug into the mix would do. From https://go.drugbank.com/drugs/DB01608 Quetiapine may increase the orthostatic hypotensive, hypotensive, and antihypertensive activities of Periciazine. * NO LONGER ACTIVE on SA * MISSION ACCOMPLISHED: (6 year taper) 0mg Pristiq on 13th November 2021 ADs since ~1992: 25+ years - 1 unknown, Prozac (muscle weakness), Zoloft; citalopram (pooped out) CTed (very sick for 2.5 wks a few months after); Pristiq: 50mg 2012, 100mg beg 2013 (Serotonin Toxicity) Tapering from Oct 2015 - 13 Nov 2021 LAST DOSE 0.0025mg Post 0 updates start here My tapering program My Intro (goes to tapering graph) VIDEO: Antidepressant Withdrawal Syndrome and its Management Link to comment
Robynne
I totally agree !!! I’ve been researching too. Why do we get given these? is it because we go looking for help and want a quick fix. I’ll just keep battling on, I hope to stabilise them figure out what to do.
