slowphie
Following your journey, and hoping things get a little easier for you. I’m in a Mirtazapine withdrawal group, and things can get easier for people throughout the process. ❤️ I’m very eagerly waiting for my taper tools to arrive so I can start tapering off Mirta too. May I ask how you’re reducing your doses? Have you converted to a liquid? 2015-16 - Desvenlafaxine 35.7mg for 10 months, rapid taper without incident. Bestill
@slowphieHi there and thanks for stopping by. To answer your questions, I am tapering using the brass monkey method. However I seem to take more breaks in between. I use a scale to weigh out my dose and use a nail file to file it down to what I need and pill cutter. The last two weeks I did more of a 3% cut and this past week was 2%. I felt it more this week than last but noticed the withdrawals weren’t as bad as my first two. I have also noticed moments of feeling normal so I’m excited to experience more of that. I’m going to hold this week and then get back at it. I don’t think I will ever go to liquid. The way I’m doing it works well for me. I will have to swing over to your intro and see your story. Love having people who get it. Keep me posted on when you start your taper. I can always use more buddies! bestill June 9th 2021 Mirtazapine 7.5 mg June 24th Mirtazapine 11.25 mg Oct 25th tapered 16% and had major withdrawals on day 4. Oct 29th went up original dose. slowphie
@Bestill Hello, thank you so much for sharing. I’ve got a scale and file as well, and I’m thinking of cutting the pill now so I don’t need to convert to liquid and hold. I plan to start with 2% myself, and see what happens. The scale actually arrived today, so I might make my first drop tonight. I think Mirtazapine is negatively impacting my vision so I’m pretty eager to start decreasing the dose. Mentor Faure Posted February 7, 2022 Mentor Share Posted February 7, 2022 Interesting about the vision comments. My left eye is definitely off and has been for some time. I have wondered if it's mirtazepine related. slowphie
@Bestill thank you!! I’m really hoping it will. A bit disheartening, for some people it only returned once they completely tapered off, but for others it returned as they tapered lower. I’m truly hoping I’m in the latter group. 🥺 I’m a graphic designer btw 😊 so I mostly work on visual stuff. I post some of my art to my Instagram, if you’re curious: http://Instagram.com/sophsoph.psd @Faure Sorry to hear about your left eye, you’re not the only one though. Quite a few people in the FB Mirtazapine withdrawal support group have made vision complaints. For a few of them, they’ve improved at much lower doses. Others have vision issues for a few days during their taper. Hopefully it improves for both of us on the way down. 2015-16 - Desvenlafaxine 35.7mg for 10 months, rapid taper without incident. Bestill
Holding this week and I seriously feel like I have a bad case of pms. More physical symptoms. I still have another week to go before “my gift” arrives. 🥴. So that’s been fun! I think I have pushed it too hard this week with running around. I even tried lifting again. Not time for that right now. I really need to learn the off button. I am noticing that I feel a little bit better than the previous month and withdrawals and side effects are a little bit less. Bestill
@Faure I am definitely seeing improvements. I think my problem is I don’t know the off button. It’s really a hard habit to break. I also think certain foods are playing a role in how I am feeling too. Basically anything processed even with clean ingredients. I think I was just having a moment yesterday but I like keeping track of everything as I go through this journey. Slowly things are improving. I just have to pause and slow down more. Mentor Faure Posted February 25, 2022 Mentor Share Posted February 25, 2022 Yes, I like keeping track too, it's reassuring to see steady progress🙂 do you meditate? It has really slowed me down, at least my mind, mirtazepine slowed my body down. And I've spent 2+ years learning to live at a slower pace. I am not a medical professional. Bestill
@Faurei meditate daily and do either yin or restorative yoga at least 5 days a week. I have slowed the heck down but every time I get a glimpse of feeling good, I turn into my go getter feels. Then it catches up to me and I feel like garbage. I’m learning and doing a lot of self talk that this won’t be forever! I know it will get better. Talking with all of you really helps. Bestill
Last month if we went out I would get signs of anxiety but I would make it through and just be super happy when we were leaving. Today we went to IKEA. IKEA on a Saturday? Super crazy. I didn’t get anxiety. I am seeing improvements month to month. I need to be thankful for these and not always focusing on the negatives. Note: the anxiety came when I started to taper. Super weird like is was social anxiety. Which is so opposite of me because I love to be social. Again, so interesting on how the body reacts. I’m still sleeping great, eating great when it’s just Whole Foods, getting some exercise in when I can. I’m able to work and feeling better when I am there. Slowly it’s getting better. I need to stay focused on the positive. It will help me heal faster. 1 June 9th 2021 Mirtazapine 7.5 mg June 24th Mirtazapine 11.25 mg Oct 25th tapered 16% and had major withdrawals on day 4. slowphie
@BestillCongrats for getting below 10mg! Some people find that transition difficult. Mirtazapine is more sedating at the lower doses for a lot of people, so your experience makes sense and speaks to that. Hope you don’t experience any bumps with this cut. Bestill
@Faure That’s good to know. Yesterday I found myself looking at calculations and time frames and I just said screw it. It is what it is. I can’t stress out over it anymore. Enjoy your hold!!!! @slowphie I think we are capable of getting through this kind of stuff even if at times it’s very uncomfortable. It’s nothing compared to what I was feeling last June. I keep telling myself that. Good luck on your drop. Will check in with you at the end of the week. thanks ladies. ❤️ June 9th 2021 Mirtazapine 7.5 mg June 24th Mirtazapine 11.25 mg Oct 25th tapered 16% and had major withdrawals on day 4. Bestill
Checking in. It’s been a week since the 3% decrease. This has been a pretty good week. I didn’t go without withdrawals but it was minimal and pretty much hit late afternoon to evening. Probably the day catching up with me. Main withdrawal symptoms: air hunger- a lot better this week, worse in the evening muscle soreness- like I worked out hard when I didn’t and my body was feeling it. Burning between shoulder blades. Magnesium cream is a dream for that and totally goes away when applied. fatigue and a little flu-ish. Anxiety is down. I was able to have lunch with a friend and felt pretty good. Ran errands without any anxiety and actually had fun. I have been able to do some sort of movement this week. Going in slowly but body weight exercises for 15-20 mins a day. Like planks, girly push-ups, and lots of body weight squats. sleep was a little interrupted but not bad. Appetite is strong. Really focusing on Whole Foods and watching the high histamine foods as well. decreased 2% tonight and will hold for two weeks until my period. I want to see if by holding it might help the hormones a bit. Curious to try 5% after and hold for 3 weeks to see how the rolls with my body. I think that’s about it for now. slowphie
@Bestill Congrats on your next decrease. 😊 I’ve been having sore shoulders a lot too! However, I’m not sure if that’s withdrawal or a side effect for me, tbh. I’ll keep tracking to see when it happens, perhaps I’ll notice a pattern eventually. Bestill
It’s been a week since my last taper of 2%. Today Has been the first day where I’m feeling it. But it is better than it’s been and for that I’m not complaining. Main symptoms this week: brain fog- this has been fun and actually funny how dumb I have been this week. Like lighting the stove to make tea but putting the kettle on the burner that isn’t lit. Thankful for my husband for saving that one. air hunger has been pretty good the past week except for yesterday and mainly today. body hurts today the most. Days have been good and then by night I am tired, but feels a little less then the past. i was even able to bump up my exercise and do 15 min hiits this week with some body weight exercise. No more than 30 mins. I haven’t been emotional or whining about how crappy I feel. These are all good signs. period is due at the end of the week so holding until it starts and then will get curious with the 5% drop and 3 week hold. Anyone want to chime in and let me know how you are doing. Would love to hear! ❤️ June 9th 2021 Mirtazapine 7.5 mg June 24th Mirtazapine 11.25 mg Oct 25th tapered 16% and had major withdrawals on day 4. Oct 29th went up original dose.
