About 4 years ago, it appears these drugs were added to Luvox:

Were these drugs added before or after you got these symptoms:

I had symptoms before these drugs were added, but the addition and subsequent withdrawal made all the existing issues far worse and added a bunch of new ones.

Currently, you take Xanax at about 3:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.? That's all?

I was going to start doing this yesterday, and did well until I had my awful night episode. So to be blunt so I can get help-I do not have a schedule for benzos. If having one would help me, I will certainly do it. I usually only take .06 at a time because my body is so hyper sensitive to it.

Yes, you got an adverse reaction to 25mg Luvox after you took it at about 11 a.m.

I figured but this is scary. Am I going to be safe staying on Luvox until my taper is done if I’m having adverse reactions, or will that put my body and brain in serious danger?

Good job UnusualRoom on the Notes already!  And hang on tight, hang in there.  You just had a significant break up......and I am so sorry......sheesh, life happens so inconveniently at times......

And.....a long history with Luvox.  A FT(fast taper) behind you.  And then the benzo's too.

So bear with us, as we get to know you.  Okay?

My take on those "genetic" tests is in agreement with Alto.  They just show how you metabolize the Luvox is all......nothing cryptic there.  And they do use them to make choices around which medication to use.  Not really what we are about.  We are about tapering and WD.

I'm going to try to reformat the quote a bit, less bold, and delineate the shift into the next day, 26 December.

It's just a bit hard on the eyes at this point.(and forgive my lavender colored type if needed, I can go to black if asked)

Hmmm, can't do much with the NOTES right now.  I'll try once more, when I SAVE my reply.

A slightly bigger and lighter font would be nice though, with the next set.  And then NOTE the date after midnight too, instead of just rolling one into another.

Unable to change a copy of your notes.  It looks like it's a copy from another program.

Thank you kindly.

Thank you for your response. I’m still trying to figure out how to work the site-my apologies. I wrote it out in word and copy and pasted, but it won’t just copy the words. I tried using notes and other programs and it keeps doing the same “image” situation. I’ll figure it out, what do you use that translates nicely?

I just welcome any help and would like to get a proper Ssri and benzo schedule. Please drill me with questions if it will help.

I appreciate it all.

You will need to keep to a consistent daily drug schedule. We'll help figure this out.

Please keep daily notes of times o’clock you take your drugs, their dosages, and your symptoms throughout the day. We need to know how you feel before and after taking each drug, and your symptoms in between. Post 24 hours of notes at a time in this topic, in a simple list format with time o’clock on the left and notation (symptom or drug and dosage) on the right. This can show if your symptoms are adverse effects from one of your drugs.

This is not medical advice. Discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical practitioner.

Hey there, that's much better UnusualRoom,

Just keep the times to the left, and then make sure that you note the drug name too, with the dose.  I am assuming that the 6.25 mg listed at the top refers to Luvox?  No need to enlarge or bold.

Yesterdays, looks good, other than you forgot the drug name Luvox.

I don't have any great ideas on how to transfer, or even copy/paste from one program to another.  I run into trouble with that myself sometimes, and then not being able to edit the different format.

When I just post here, and within this site.......I don't have problems.

I appreciate it all.

Yes.  This is good.  Stability is good, as much as possible prior to tapering.  You are doing okay UR.

Why did you dose your xanax at .03 mg at 12:40 pm and then .06 mg at 3:20 pm?

I see xanax has a 6-12 hour half life, and then this relates to when, and how long it might take, to achieve a nice steady state of it.

So you took 2 doses on 26th of December around 3 hours apart and then none for many hours.

Is this your usual schedule?

And I'll @Frogieto take a look too.  I don't have personal experience with the benzo's and adjusting and tapering them myself.

Thanks Frogie in advance.

I'm thinking it also might take a little more time too, 4-7 days to see how you do again, once on the correct morning dose and evening dose of Luvox.  Maybe even less time for you to feel better after the dose mix up the other day.

What combo are you referring to that scares you?  Is it the drug combo(Tylenol and Xanax) , or the symptom combo?

This was right before your next dose of Xanax, the .06 mg.  and then you seemed to start to focus less on symptoms.

Just a few questions and observations from me.  We can see what Alto and Frogie think too.

And keep these good Notes coming, as getting a series of days will help a lot.

Again, great job with them!!! 💜

The 6.25mg is the Luvox. I'll try to make these more clear and concise in the future, getting the hang of it.

I've just been taking it when I need it (anxiety, muscle pain, etc.) I'm not really sure how to spread it out safely. I got some ideas from Frogie but then there were additional comments, so I'm just waiting to see what everyone thinks comprehensively once they can see more of my logs.

No-I don't have a schedule. I've just been taking it as needed in small 0.03 or 0.06 doses. Anymore than that, and my body reacts strongly. I seem to be extremely sensitive to meds, including Xanax.

Sounds good. I'd like to see what you guys think I should do in terms of an SSRI and benzo schedule right now. I don't have one right now. The only thing I have "scheduled" is this combo of 6.25 mg in the afternoon and 25 mg at night I came up with, without much knowledge on the topic. Serotonin Syndrome is something I'm nervous about,  considering I've been told I've had it before and my muscle issues with Luvox, so I feel stuck between a rock and a hard place.

1 hour ago, manymoretodays said:

Luvox and Xanax. Feel totally out of it, like my brain stops or something. I cannot stand feeling cognitively out of it or "drugged up". It reminds me of being stoned (when I'm not).

I think you could begin to gradually shift your Luvox dose to taking more of it in the AM, and less of it in the PM, as I had described earlier.  You wouldn't actually be tapering, just gradually shifting your dose as described in a previous post of mine.  This may help you with your sleep.

Ok. What are your thoughts on the amount? I did 25 mg for two weeks and then reinstated to 31.25 mg. Should I continue with this dose and let it level out, or go back to 25 mg to avoid kindling?

Have you felt significantly worse since you updosed to 31.25 mg on December 21?  If so, then I would revert back to the 25 mg.  If not, I would stay at your current dose until otherwise advised.  Altostrata and manymoretodays may have some good suggestions for you.

In general, it's important to only make 1 drug change at a time, so if there is a problem, we know what is causing it.  Please be careful and cautious about making drug changes, as making drug changes too frequently can further destabilize the nervous system and worsen withdrawal.

I have not felt worse overall. That one night I had a *horrible* time, but as much as I hate to admit this, I think that was severe stress/anxiety as the main catalyst. Is it ok to do "uneven" doses like I'm doing?

I still need to get thoughts on a Benzo schedule, just to have some stability. I know there were suggestions but then I added a lot more info so always welcome info and open to answering questions.

It weirded me out with the tapering to 25, because normally I get sick within a few days. I took the 25 mg for a couple of weeks and then started feeling horrible. Like withdrawal doesn't have much stability...

In my first post to you I have a link called tips for tapering Luvox. that will help you to figure out how to measure small doses.  The easiest way is probably to make a liquid or have a compounding pharmacy make a liquid.

UnusualRoom,

Keep up with your Notes too please.

And it may help if you review previous posts too.

Might help to try and write down on paper suggests and advice given.

Between the WD and the benzo's, and the emotional upset......no doubt that you might be feeling some confusion.

No it wouldn't be safe to cold turkey off of them because you've been taking them too long now.

You could try to cut your dose in 1/2 and take it twice a day. That might keep the anxiety at bay and lessen the side effects.

It would probably be a good idea to keep notes and post them so we all know how you are doing.

Keep Notes on Paper

I'm sorry you are feeling stuck, but it will get better. It just takes time.

Please tag me so I know you need assistance 🙂

You may want to space out those Xanax doses a bit more.

0.03mg Xanax At 11:30 am

11:30 Am: half Tylenol

0.03mg Xanax at 12:40 PM

1:00 pm: ate

Feeling dopey but wired. This combo scares me because it feels like my body is shutting down.

3:00Pm: feeling loagy. Having what feels like zoning out/fatigue/dissociation.

3:15 PM: took bath. Seemed to Jack up my nervous system and exacerbated symptoms. Feel out of it and fatigued.

3:20 PM: Took 0.06 mg of Xanax

Here ^, I am seeing 3 doses of Xanax.  First .03 mg an hour apart, and then while feeling out of it, you proceeded to take another larger dose of .06 mg just 3 hours later.

I don't follow any logic with that 3rd dose taken.

And this is getting complicated for anyone right now, if you are gradually adjusting your Luvox too.

17 hours ago, UnusualRoom said:

Luvox and Xanax. Feel totally out of it, like my brain stops or something. I cannot stand feeling cognitively out of it or "drugged up". It reminds me of being stoned (when I'm not).

Me, I would stick to only 2 doses, of the Xanax each day, and try to stick with the .03 mg only.  Space them 6-8 hours apart, or longer if you can.

What do you use now for non-drug coping?  Sounds like a bath didn't help much.  Although you stated feeling "jacked up" and then went on to feeling fatigued, so maybe it did help.  But again.......then you followed the fatigue with Xanax?  This is not making sense to me.

Can you lay out your daily medication each day, or get someone to help you with that?

So.....from me, this morning.  Write down, as soon as possible, todays drug schedule, complete with doses.  And then carefully get them ready to go.

Keep NOTES.

Thankyou.

My anxiety is so high, that I take Xanax whenever I need it. (e.g. when I feel a panic attack coming on.) I don't really have a schedule because I've heard a few different ideas in here so I was waiting to see if I could come up with a more concrete answer based on my logs.

I go to therapy, CBT, etc. I will try to space them apart, it's just difficult with the constant panic. When I use the term "fatigued", it's not a positive one. It's not a nice, relaxed feeling, it's a "i feel like my body and soul just got drained out of my body", which causes me anxiety, so I've taken Xanax to cope with that fear.

Thank you. I actually have an appt with a new therapist today so I'm going to upload all this.

So this is what I'm going to do:

0.03mg of Xanax at 8 AM and 8 PM

6.25mg of Luvox at 10 AM and 25 mg of Luvox at 10 PM-with the intention of moving the dosages to be more even between morning and afternoon to 15.625mg at 10 AM and 10 PM respectively, and do so by adding 1mg to the AM slowly per the schedule suggested by @getofflex earlier in the post. And then I will just keep this schedule indifferently until things even out.

I have a question though: If I'm having adverse affects (and I am) to Luvox, which may be serotonin syndrome on some level, is it safe for me to continuing to keep taking Luvox while I'm weaning, or is that going to put me in more danger?

Does this sound like an appropriate schedule or no? I'm ready to do whatever I need to do but I've gotten a few different suggestions so I wanted to confirm. @Frogie @Altostrata @manymoretodays

I can't speak of the Luvox because @getofflex is handling that for you. But the Xanax schedule looks like it may work for you.

Give it a try and if we need to review it we can.

Good luck today!

PREVIOUS medications and discontinuations: Have been on medications since 1996.

Valium, Gabapentin, Lamictal, Prilosec and Zantac from 2000 to 2015 with a fast taper by a psychiatrist.

Liquid Lexapro Nov, 2016 to 31-March, 2019 Lexapro free!!! (total Lexapro taper was 4 years-started with pill form)

---CURRENT MEDICATIONS:Supplements:Milk Thistle, Metamucil, Magnesium Citrate, Vitamin D3, Levothyroxine 25mcg, Vitamin C, Krill oil.

Xanax 1mg 3x day June, 2000 to 19-September, 2020 Went from .150 grams (average weight of 1 Xanax) 3x day to .003 grams 3x day. April 1, 2021 went back on 1mg a day. Started tapering May 19, 2023. July 28, 2023-approximately .87mg. Dr. fast tapered me at the end and realized he messed up. Prescribe it again and I am doing "slower than a turtle" taper.

19-September, 2020 Xanax free!!! (total Xanax taper was 15-1/2 months-1-June, 2019-19-September, 2020)

Ok. Got Benzo schedule down. What happens if I start having a panic attack? I'm so used to taking small bits to cope with it, like even being able to leave the house. Can I make exceptions during extreme situations or do I have to hardcore stick to this?

Luvox (2015, 100mg)

My anxiety is so high, that I take Xanax whenever I need it. (e.g. when I feel a panic attack coming on.) I don't really have a schedule because I've heard a few different ideas in here so I was waiting to see if I could come up with a more concrete answer based on my logs.

And I appreciate your honesty.

Yes, I'm sorry about the confusion.

Let's try and go with simplification now.

While I also see that by doing what you are doing, you may be adding to your problems right now.

When you get to logs of consistent times and doses with your drugs for even a couple of days, that will help a lot.  We haven't got that far yet.  No ones fault.

I have a question though: If I'm having adverse affects (and I am) to Luvox, which may be serotonin syndrome on some level, is it safe for me to continuing to keep taking Luvox while I'm weaning, or is that going to put me in more danger?

What symptoms are you attributing to serotonin syndrome now?

And would you go ahead and do an interaction check at Drugs.com, and then link us to that, or copy and paste.

Late 2023- gone to emeritus status, inactive, don't @ me, I can check who I've posted on, and I'm not really here like I used to be......thanks.

Started with psycho meds/psychiatric care circa 1988.  In retrospect, and on contemplation, situational overwhelm.

Rounding up to 30 years of medications(30 medication trials, poly-pharmacy maximum was 3 at one time).

5/28/2015-off Adderal salts 2.5mg. (I had been on that since hospital 10/2014)

12/2015---just holding, holding, holding, with trileptal/oxcarb at 75 mg. 1/2 tab at hs.  My last psycho med ever!  Tapered @ 10% every 4 weeks, sometimes 2 weeks to

2016 Dec 16 medication free!!

I was told I had serotonin syndrome at the ER back in September, but I was on a lot more drugs at that time too. (Luvox, xanax, hydrocodone, maxalt). I basically always had stiff/tense muscles, sometimes to the point where I can barely walk or do things without looking robotic. The dizziness, lack of balance, mental disorientation at times, headaches...I really don't know because these are also side effects of withdrawal itself, or anxiety as much as I hate to admit it, so I don't know.

I re-read the "weaning of Luvox" in detail. I have tried getting it compounded to no avail and there is no bead option for Luvox, or at least I was told it was not available. (I checked several well-known pharmacies as well as local, small pharmacies that do things like compounding.)

I saw that some people use Prozac. Give the severity of where I'm at, is switching to Prozac a viable option to give me some breathing room?

I remember being on it as a child and tolerated it well.

There are good, sound non drug ways to deal with panic.  My firs go to is a simple technique by Dr. Claire Weekes.  I would try the third link first - How to Recover from Anxiety by Dr. Claire Weekes.

You can make your own liquid.  The instructions for how to do that are in the thread "Tips for Tapering Luvox".

I agree with manymoretodays - please stay away from the alcohol.  This tends to make our withdrawal symptoms worse.

Yes, you are having an adverse reaction to the Luvox.  (You feel worse after taking it, right?).

However, we still need to taper off slowly enough to where you don't have severe withdrawals.  So, we are walking a tightrope. We at SA take the least harm approach, so we want to get you off of this, but don't want a withdrawal that is even worse than your adverse reaction.   Let's take things one step at a time.  Go ahead and get your dosing schedule adjusted as I discussed previously, then, we can think about a taper.

Right. Definitely worse. After reading quite a bit on here, I'm doing some serious consideration into switching to Prozac at an "equivalent" dose, and then worrying about Prozac tapering.

Is this viable, and if so, what mg of Prozac and how many times a day would I take it?

I would not add in another drug change, to Prozac, right now. We need to get the Luvox and Xanax schedule settled. This will take at least a week.
