ViolinStudent
Hi. I'm still on 10% every 4 weeks tapering of Paroxentine (currently active ingredient: 1.938324566768002mg, so weight of pill cut ≈ 23mg daily). I really want to remove my freckles by laser, but I've read paroxetine is photosensitive, but it'll be Apr 2024 that I can be completely off Paroxetine! Do you think I can go have it? Because as we know, doctor's don't really understand SSRIs. (and theat's why we're here). Thank you. Moderator Emeritus ChessieCat Posted January 3, 2022 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 3, 2022 (edited) You've lived with them up until now - I think it would be sensible to wait until you are off. https://www.bodydetails.com/blog/photosensitive-drugs-laser-hair-removal-interactions/ and From: https://www.therarewelshbit.com/prescription-drugs-to-avoid-after-a-laser-hair-removal-treatment/ Quote Antidepressants Anti-depressants are often jam-packed with photosensitive compounds that when consumed by a person who is planning to get a laser body hair removal treatment, results in making the person’s skin highly sensitive to the laser beams that will be used during the treatment session. The list of antidepressant medications that should be avoided before going for a laser hair removal treatment include Zoloft, Prozac, Adapin, Vivactil and Paxil. Why would I risk hyperpigmentation instead of just waiting 2 more years; I will use makeup & sunscreen for now. 1 Paroxetine (strength per dose, not actual weight) Aug 2014: 20mg ?: 10mg 1 Nov 2019: 10mg [per two days] 6 Nov 2019: tinnitus onset 29 Nov 2019: 10mg 2 Dec 2019: 20mg 13 Dec 2019: 30mg 10 Jan 2020: 30 x 0.9 = 27mg [began 10% tapering according to https://www.survivingantidepressants.org/topic/405-tips-for-tapering-off-paxil-paroxetine/] 4 Feb 2022: 1.570042899082082
