LiaJ
Hello everyone. Nearly six years into my WD experience, I am still experiencing severe insomnia. I’m wondering if this is related to WD anymore or another reason (hormonal). I just turned 40 years old. My sleep has been wildly unpredictable and at times has been great, ok, or just plain terrible. Currently my sleep is so bad I’m feeling suicidal and desperate. I’ve been reading online about Quviviq, which is a newer insomnia drug that theoretically has no impact on the CNS. I’m very nearly going to call my doctor on Monday and ask for an Rx. Never in my WD experience have I thought about introducing another pill until now. Of course, Im very curious about whether anyone here has tried it and what your experience has been. Thank you. 2005-2009 Various ADs and maybe some random Ativan, nothing long-term 2009 Started Celexa 10 mg 2012 Symptoms of depression worsened when I quit drinking, started a course of Viibryd (10 mg), Buspar (5 mg), Xanax 2013 Hospitalized, added Lamictal in the hospital (quit Lamictal cold turkey in 2014) 2014 Switched back to Celexa from Viibryd 2015 Quit Buspar cold turkey 2016 Cut down to 5 mg of Celexa (all seemingly without issues) June-August 2017 tapered off Celexa October 2017 Hospitalized for insomnia (quit sleeping entirely) reinstated w/ Trintellix 5mg (stopped in 1/18) and 7.5 mg of Mirtazapine Mirtazapine (in mgs) 2/18 5, 6/19 3.5, 9/25/19 3.2, 2/24/20 2.9, 3/2020 2.85, 6/20/20 2.5, 10/3/20 2.3, 11/30/20 2.1, 1/1/21 1.95 3/19/21 1.86 9/1/21 1.65 11/30 1.5 mgs 3/1/22 1.41 mgs 6/28/22 1.37 mgs 10/22 1.20 mgs Daily supplements: 470 mgs magnesium, Miralax, 640 Omega complex, probiotic, testosterone 2 gms, progesterone 12.5 mgs Link to comment

I've posted topics and questions lately in this forum that no one cares to respond to. It seems that the only way a moderator will respond to a post is if it contains content unsuitable for discussion on this site. It's very frustrating and disheartening to only hear feedback when you're being scolded for posting something that is deemed inappropriate for discussion.

That’s pretty judgemental of you to say, particularly since you don’t know anything about me. When I became ill and housebound in the early stage of my withdrawal I enrolled in graduate school to study clinical mental health counseling, inspired by my experience coming of psychotropic medication. Now that I’m a licensed, practicing psychotherapist, all I do ALL DAY LONG is hold space for others who are struggling. There have been discussions regarding the use of lamictal, for instance, to reduce withdrawal symptoms. Numerous individuals have had questions about potential drug interactions with drugs they’re currently taking and have been encouraged to take from their medical providers. Numerous threads address the consequences of using antibiotics in WD, and supplements. It seems a bit hypocritical to accost me for being curious about a sleeping pill. I know this forum isn’t one that encourages individuals to take drugs yet everyone in this forum has thought about using medications and supplements while seeking relief from their suffering. Numerous others have in fact instated medication therapies when symptoms become too intolerable to bear. We're all on a journey, trying like hell to heal and not a single one of us has the same story. One final thought, if you think I’ve reached “veteran status” in my WD journey and believe I should be more active in this forum helping others along, I’ll happily accept the opportunity.
Moderator Onmyway Posted February 15, 2023 Moderator Share Posted February 15, 2023 (edited) Hi @LiaJ You are right, I don't know you or your profession, I only know your posts here. You made a comment complaining how nobody paid attention to your posts despite numerous people helping you along. I suggested that you look at the imbalance on your thread - how so many people have showed up for you here while your haven't really extended that courtesy to others. While people have shared experiences with the drugs they are taking sometimes to treat their withdrawal we do not promote or review psychotropic drugs or encourage people to take psychotropic drugs outside of reinstatement because we know the dangers. You will note that the lamictal thread is someone giving their experience with it and is full of caution. We are not preventing you from asking questions about a drug. I just informed you that moderators do not provide assistance with a potential/ongoing drug treatment outside of withdrawal and tapering after you complained about lack of assistance.
