Hi @Pit138

Welcome to SA. We are a volunteer ran site, with many member having gone through what you are or are going through it currently.

This is your page where you will receive information, ask questions and meet members just like you. We ask that you only have one page so we can keep all your information in one place.

First, can I ask you please to create a signature. Thank you.

Instructions:  Withdrawal History Signature

How much Zoloft were you on? Did you just stop it cold turkey or did you fast taper off of it?

Then how much Mirtazepam were you on after that and were taken off of it or did they fast taper you off of that?

Unfortunately, most dr's don't understand what these antidepressants do to your body by putting you on something and taking you off all at once.

I see now you are on 150 mg Seroquel , and how much Zopiclon?

I'm going to give you some links to read that you might find helpful:

Dr Joseph Glenmullen's WD Symptoms Checklist

What is Withdrawal Syndrome?

Brain Remodelling

What should I expect from my doctor about withdrawal symptoms?

Here is some information of tapering off of Seroquel and Zopiclon.

tips-for-tapering-off-seroquel-quetiapine

Why taper by 10% of my dosage?

I would hold a while because your body has been through the wringer it sounds like if it was me. So that you can stabilize before starting another taper.

Insomnia is not fun. Have you tried melatonin?

Melatonin

Also, Epson salt baths, turning off the computer and tv an hour or so before bed sometimes helps.

Also, we don't suggest supplements on here except 2 that might help with the nervous system. If you want to try them, take one in a small amount for a few days to see how you do before you try the other.

Magnesium

Omega-3 Fish Oil

After you read through this information, please reach out to us with any questions that we may help you with. I'm glad you found us.

Xanax 1mg 3x day June, 2000 to 19-September, 2020 Went from .150 grams (average weight of 1 Xanax) 3x day to .003 grams 3x day. April 1, 2021 went back on 1mg a day. Started tapering May 19, 2023. July 28, 2023-approximately .87mg. Dr. fast tapered me at the end and realized he messed up. Prescribe it again and I am doing "slower than a turtle" taper.

Yes, it is possible to heal from all of this. We have many, many success stories. You can read them on here.

You will just need to hold for a while, before thinking of tapering.

If you could post notes for a few days, then we can see what is going on and help you from there.

Keep Notes on Paper

Insomnia is the pits and very frustrating. I have it. I'm lucky to sleep 2-3 nights a week, so I know exactly how you feel.

It just takes time. Lots of time.

I had a therapist that told me one day at a time, one minute at a time, one second at a time. It made me think about things.

I doubt you have a brain injury from this. It is all withdrawal related. I wish I could tell you how long you will have it. Sometimes it doesn't last long and some people it lasts a long time. In my opinion the Seroquel is not causing the healing process. It just takes time. I've had insomnia for years, but some of mine is not because of the meds, it's just happened as I've gotten older.

@Pit138 Just wanted to let you know, I had insomnia for the longest time from going through this process, but my sleep has returned and continues to get better and better. It just takes a very long time for things to calm down and return to normal. Like @Frogie mentioned, just sleep when you can and try not to let it stress you out too much. I found that I would actually give myself sleep anxiety and cause insomnia because I was worrying about it too much. When I stopped worrying about sleep and just accepted it, then I would fall asleep without even trying. Just have to give it time time and more time!

2010-2011 - Tramadol - Can't remember dosage

2011 - CT Quit Tramadol

2011-2019 - St Johns Wart - Started out at 3 Pills a day (300 MG) and increased to 6 per day over the years

I think all of these medications take a toll on the body. It's just going to take time and patience to get back to sleeping. Even if you sleep a couple of hours it's a reason celebrate.

@KenA: how much do you sleep and when did you have improvements?

2012 - 2020/Dec. 75 mg Sertralin, stopped by 12,5 mg

I sleep now a good 6 hours or so per night straight without waking up. And that's on a work night. On the weekends I usually sleep 8-9 hours straight. So I would have to say my sleep has returned back to normal. For me, the first 7-8 months or so I would say I would get 3-4 hours a night for a few nights a week. Most nights was 1-2. Then around 9 months I went up to about 4-5 per night with only 1 or 2 sleepless nights. Around a year I went to 5-6 per night and almost no sleepless nights. I'm at 28 months now and I would say my sleep is back to normal. It just took a very very very long time, but I had to just wait it out. On sleepless nights, I would just lay in bed and rest and watch movies. I stopped fighting against it and just let my body heal. I knew my brain would figure things out, so i just had to trust in the process. There are many many many people here in the forums who have had insomnia as a symptom and it has healed and gone away. I knew if it would happen for them, then it would happen for me too and it did :) You are going to be ok. Lack of sleep may make you feel terrible, but you are not going to die from it. Eventually your brain will shut down and rest for the amount of time it needs to. Just have to trust in your brain and that it knows what it is doing! You've got this!

I never stopped working. I just powered through it. I'm the sole provider for my family so it was never an option to stop working. I just explained to my manager what I was going through and asked for them to work with me on it. They allowed me to take a position with less responsibility until I started feeling better. There was some extremely rough days for sure, but I survived every single one of them! 100% success rate on surviving the bad days! That why I know that if I can do it, anybody can do it!

@Pit138

No, you haven't stabilized. I would continue to hold for a while longer.

PREVIOUS medications and discontinuations: Have been on medications since 1996.

Valium, Gabapentin, Lamictal, Prilosec and Zantac from 2000 to 2015 with a fast taper by a psychiatrist.

Liquid Lexapro Nov, 2016 to 31-March, 2019 Lexapro free!!! (total Lexapro taper was 4 years-started with pill form)

---CURRENT MEDICATIONS:Supplements:Milk Thistle, Metamucil, Magnesium Citrate, Vitamin D3, Levothyroxine 25mcg, Vitamin C, Krill oil.

19-September, 2020 Xanax free!!! (total Xanax taper was 15-1/2 months-1-June, 2019-19-September, 2020)

I am not a medical professional.

The suggestions I make are based on personal experience.

The first really really good window? I would say that was probably around 5-6 months or so. I would get some windows before that, but they would be for maybe an hour or so here or there. Maybe even 2-3 hours. But a whole day of feeling decent was probably around the 7 month mark. Around 8 or 9 months I would get 2-3 days. It just took time to get through the acute phase of healing.

Having windows is a good sign of healing. Just keep going day by day. Eventually they will happen more and more often and last longer and longer! You've got this!
