I'm going to ask another moderator as I'm not quite sure if you could do a rapid taper off of it.

What dosage are you on currently?

PREVIOUS medications and discontinuations: Have been on medications since 1996.

Valium, Gabapentin, Lamictal, Prilosec and Zantac from 2000 to 2015 with a fast taper by a psychiatrist.

Liquid Lexapro Nov, 2016 to 31-March, 2019 Lexapro free!!! (total Lexapro taper was 4 years-started with pill form)

---CURRENT MEDICATIONS:Supplements:Milk Thistle, Metamucil, Magnesium Citrate, Vitamin D3, Levothyroxine 25mcg, Vitamin C, Krill oil.

Xanax 1mg 3x day June, 2000 to 19-September, 2020 Went from .150 grams (average weight of 1 Xanax) 3x day to .003 grams 3x day. April 1, 2021 went back on 1mg a day. Started tapering May 19, 2023. July 28, 2023-approximately .87mg. Dr. fast tapered me at the end and realized he messed up. Prescribe it again and I am doing "slower than a turtle" taper.

19-September, 2020 Xanax free!!! (total Xanax taper was 15-1/2 months-1-June, 2019-19-September, 2020)

At that small amount I think you could cut your dose 25% a week and you should be ok.

If you start getting symptoms then please stop and we can go a bit slower.

But these symptoms are not from the pregabalin it is from the quetliapine wd. Pregabalin is used to control muscle/nerve disorders.

If you do not feel stable, you may want to go to an emergency room.

You can call the suicide hotline in Brazil.

Having been on pregabalin I know it is anxiolytic. If you are reducing then you may feel anxious enough to take a bit more Benz.
However you are so anx that you need in my view to talk to Samaritans or attend emergency

Please listen to the support from @Frogie

And we will be thinking of you

Thanks for replying

I misread your signature and thought you were on a tiny bit of benz - could you update it?

After a week or so on pregabalin it would have been quite calming. The good news is stopping is sensibly over about ten days no damage will have been done long term imho.
I have withdrawn from quetiapine and I know how these awful thoughts come in.

awful as you feel I think you have done really well.
I have a counsellor weekly still just to put things in perspective

Best wishes

You could —but mostly for example if on it a month you take 28 days to come off.
however you may well be ok coming down at a quarter every few days.
I can only pass on my experience  from my previous group. We are all different.
Thankfully you were only on it a few days.
@Frogie might well agree.

Thank you for the information on your experience. I really appreciate it.

@Valerio  has a very desensitized nervous system at this point and I think taking it by 25% at a time will be a better fit at this point. I don't think you want to cold turkey off of pregabalin right now.

If it was me I would really bash in the omega 3 for a month to aid recovery from the short but unpleasant chaos of the trial of pregabalin!

Pregabalin can cause trouble with thinking in some cases.

If you want to try Omega 3, try it in a very small dose and see how you handle it. It does calm nerves with some members.

I am sorry you are struggling

The senior members will give more advice but my immediate reactions are

You may be still in Quetiapine withdrawal which I have been through and does get better.

Secondly pregabalin only has a 6 hour half life so by morning you are in interdose withdrawal.
I was part of a group aiming to alleviate pregabalin damage.
At the very least you have to be on 25 twice a day until you feel you are better without it.
Youve been on it 22 days so the rule of thumb is to come off in the same time.
Quite honestly I think think this is one for @Altostrata or @Frogie but I am only chipping in because I have been on both and successfully got of them.
I do wish you well

Hello, @Valerio

First, it seems obvious that your problems started with withdrawal symptoms while you were reducing quetiapine. You should not have continued to reduce it and go off it when you already had withdrawal symptoms.

On 2/19/2022 at 7:22 AM, Valerio said:

....

I took quetiapine (100 mg) for eight years (2013 - 2021) to treat insomnia and anxiety.

I started withdrawal it in march/2020  and the things became bad when I reached 25mg/quetiapine (jun 2020). I have started feeling Insomnia, muscle tightening, panic attacks, Irritability, light and sound sensitivity

When I stopped to taking quetiapine (sep 2021), these symptoms really got worse, new ones appeared (depersonalization and muscle spasms) and my nightmare started.

Between sept21 and oct21 I had not slept at all and the psychiatrist prescribed clonazepam 0.5 mg (oct.20th).

 ....

A grueling insomnia is a common psychiatric drug withdrawal symptom.

After you started taking clonazepam, you probably became physiologically dependent on it and, having gone off it, may have added benzo withdrawal to your quetiapine withdrawal syndrome.

At the hospital, i finally found a doctor that understand a little bit about WD and he is tring help me now.

This week we have tried reinstate quetiapine, and have took 12,5mg/day and some symptoms disappear but reappears another ones and seems that my brain is super sensible.

Now, i am since friday (feb.25th) without taking anything and the doctor prescribe 75mg of Pregabalin but i am afraid and thinking about it

@OldDodgyThe last 2 days i have felt ok but today the symptoms have get back.

i am praying so much and asking to them healing my brain........

It appears that 12.5mg quetiapine was helpful. The addition of pregabalin was unnecessary. What exactly were your "restless leg" symptoms?

What times o'clock do you take each of your drugs, with their dosages? If you're tapering anything, please stop tapering.

After that i tried to reinstate quetiapine and took 12,5mg between 2/19 and 2/23 on 2/24 i tried increase to 25mg on 2/25 and feel so bad in next day and them i stooped it.

The next two days 2/26 and 2/27 a haven´t taken nothing, them yesterday 2/28 a began feel bad again and I have taken 12,5mg again but it isn´t help me. Today i am feeling so bad with my body burning, uncontrolled movements, having a strong anxiety crises and thinking in give up everything.

....

You should have stayed on 12.5mg quetiapine rather than attempting to increase it to find an instant cure. Going on and off drugs and making so many changes may have sensitized you to 12.5mg quetiapine.

Suggest you take 6.75mg quetiapine and not make any more drug changes for at least a week. We expect improvements to be slight or gradual. Please let us know how you're doing.

When i reinstate it i felt again strong tingling in the hands, muscle contractions and muscular pain. I had felt these before, when i was tapering quetiapine.

Even feeling these symptoms back, is it recomended reinstate quetiapine again?

and what about clonazepam, should i reinstate as well? or it is to much?

The doctor prescribe pregabalin after get frustrate the reinstate of quetiapine and told me that will control my strong anxiety, constant twitching and movements of the legs, akathisia and tachycardia.

I felt need of keep moving/swing my legs and arms to alleviate the discomfort sensation, tachycardia, burn skin and sometimes was involuntary.

Is it possible that this dose (50 mg pregabalin) just once a day is making me getting worse or doing bad things to my brain?

I need to taper pregabalin before reinstate quetiapine?

You could reinstate the Clonazepam and see if that helps. You were on a small amount, so it may relieve some of the symptoms. But you need to stay on it for a while until you stabilitze

PREVIOUS medications and discontinuations: Have been on medications since 1996.

I think the problem is anxiety.

Pregabalin will not help that for long and I would reduce it and stop it over three weeks using water titration.

@Altostrata has suggested using a small amount of Quetiapine which can be handled later.

@Frogie  has suggested a small increase in benzo to cover the pregabalin withdrawal. That makes perfect sense.

But you must then stabilise, perhaps for quite a while in my humble opinion. Quick fixes rarely work.

If restless legs remain an issue do check or recheck your ferritin levels.

These are just my views having been on these 3 things and had the discomfort of anxiety.

Hello, @Valerio

First, it seems obvious that your problems started with withdrawal symptoms while you were reducing quetiapine. You should not have continued to reduce it and go off it when you already had withdrawal symptoms.

A grueling insomnia is a common psychiatric drug withdrawal symptom.

After you started taking clonazepam, you probably became physiologically dependent on it and, having gone off it, may have added benzo withdrawal to your quetiapine withdrawal syndrome.

It appears that 12.5mg quetiapine was helpful. The addition of pregabalin was unnecessary. What exactly were your "restless leg" symptoms?

What times o'clock do you take each of your drugs, with their dosages? If you're tapering anything, please stop tapering.

@Altostrata

In the case of reintroduction, which drug should be reintroduced first? The drug that caused the first brain damage?

Tks🙏

@Valeria

I think you will find 6.25 plenty as you have recently come off it and I only needed a quarter of a dose to reinstate. But I would stick it out.

The pregabalin is the black sheep here and with @Altostrata inferring it must go I guess the evening dose of pregabalin could come down soon as suggested —you might wait a week.

Then you have just two psychotropic meds for you brain to manage, and stabilise for a while.

Best wishes

Yes, it appears 6.25mg quetiapine will be sufficient. We need to see how it goes for at least a week.
