Kayy: New medications since I last looked

Just learning about new types of medications for a friend.  Things have changed so much. I was happy to see Brassmonkey's name, he helped me so much back in the day of my lexapro taper and I watched him come up with his slide method! It has been 7 years since my klonopin taper and about 8 and 1/2 since my Lexapro taper.

Kay

Zoloft and Xanax 5 years and Cold Turkey

Lexapro 40mg 2 failed tapers. Went to 10mg

Lexapro 10mg 30 percent cut every 6 weeks. 14 months

2mg of Klonopin was cut over 4 years .25mg per cut

Wrong thing to do. Ended up staying on .50mg

The last .50mg was microtapered. .001mg taper rate. 24 months

Off Lexapro 2012

Off Klonopin 2015

Was on ADS and Benzos 20 years

I suggest that your friend join SA so that they can be supported with their taper, if that is what they are planning on doing.

Members who get involved directly with their drug tapering can feel more empowered because they feel that they have more control over what is happening to them.  And when they achieve small goals along the way it is very encouraging because they have achieved it by themselves.  And it can give them more strength and determination to get through the more difficult challenges that they face during their journey to get off their drug/s.

They can also get support from other members who understand what they are going through instead of feeling isolated.

That's great.  We'd love for you to write your Success Story please.  Members get a lot of encouragement from reading about people who have successfully got off their psychiatric drug/s.
