The brain zaps are less than before and my nausea is better.

It's mainly mentally im suffering.

Typically, withdrawal symptoms gradually decrease, including the mental symptoms. Up to you whether you want to see more of a natural recovery over some more weeks or reinstate. If symptoms get progressively worse over a week, you might consider reinstatement.

During this very vulnerable period, do not drink alcohol, not even a half-glass, we've seen it set people back a lot. Get regular sleep, don't overdo anything.

Many people find fish oil and magnesium supplements helpful, see

You might try a little bit of one at a time to see how it affects you. Please let us know how you’re doing.

@Altostrata

I used fish oil but saw no benefit and am worried to take more than stated dose. Is it ok to take more than the label says. Mines 3 times a day equalling 1500mg.

Been trying salt baths. Not sure if that helps with anything.

I'm trying to get good sleep but on the most part i have insomnia and cant sleep.

I dont drink alcohol. I dont smoke. I dont use recreational drugs either.

The brain zaps and nausea arent as bad as when i first stopped. I'm hoping this is a positive sign?

As explained before, recovery is very gradual, over months. You are less than a month off venlafaxine. You will need to be patient and surf the rough patches. See

@Doctorsrcrap

Welcome to SA.  Read all your thread.  Noticed you stopped by to look at mine.  My story is different than yours in that I have come off venlafaxine very slowly from the beginning.  I identify with your handle, "Doctors R Crap".  I felt that way in the beginning.   But I have eased up a bit on doctors, they are just humans like me trying to get by.  But I have learned to do my own research and homework on what they are telling me to do.  I try not to make any quick decisions about their input.  But alas, who else can I consult with.  Of course, there are many other types of doctors to consult with.

ChessieCat has been very helpful to me, and I appreciate her.  I personally learned from the input Ariel was giving you. Cudos to Ariel.

Yes, this will be a slow process for us.  So, the sooner you can relax and go with the flow, the more relaxed you will become with the process.

Wishing you the Best, Along your journey here at S.A. "SurvivingAntidepressants".

You can taper by removing these mini-tablets:

  • Ascertain how many mini-tablets are in each of your capsules. Open a few and count the mini-tablets.
  • Divide the dosage of each capsule by the number of mini-tablets in each capsule. That is the dosage of the mini-tablet.

(For example, every dosage of Venlablue contains some number of 12.5mg mini-tablets; 37.5mg contains 3 12.5mg mini-tablets while 150mg contains 12 12.5mg mini-tablets.)

Calculate the amount of your decrease, such as 10%, on your current daily dosage.

If necessary, you may split a mini-tablet into smaller doses. For more precise dosing when splitting mini-tablets, see Using a digital scale to measure doses

The venlafaxine in a mini-tablet fragment may become immediate-release venlafaxine as it can be absorbed easier. Remember that doses in immediate-release tablet form have much shorter half-lives than those made from extended-release venlafaxine.

You cannot make a liquid from these mini-tablets, they contain a glue that will create a gel in liquid.

Q:  What sort of venlafaxine are you taking?  Brand name Effexor has lots of tiny beads.  Some of the generic capsules contain several discs.

Before we can assist you with getting a non standard dose we need to know what you using.

Q:  Are you able to get a prescription for any of the following:

brand name Effexor capsules

immediate release venlafaxine (you would need to dose 2 or 3 times a day

or prescription liquid Effexor?

Getting the brand capsules or tablets (generic might be okay) would probably work out cheaper because if I remember correctly the liquid has to be disposed of 1 month after opening.

NOTE:  You cannot make a liquid from the mini discs.

6 hours ago, Doctorsrcrap said:

How do you taper 1mg?

I dont even understand how i make 1mg.

I must be thick because I just dont understand what to do.

The first goal is to try and reduce the withdrawal symptoms to a bearable level.  SA recommends starting with a low dose because taking too much might make things worse.  It is better to start with a small dose and make gradual small increased IF NEEDED (provided that the initial reinstatement dose does not make things worse).  The aim isn't to get rid of withdrawal symptoms completely but to bring them to a level that you can live with.  Some members have tried to find the "perfect dose" and have ended up making things worse for themselves.

After you have found the "lowest effective dose" (ie the dose which bring the symptoms to a bearable level) you would hold for at least 3 months, possibly longer, in order to stabilse before reducing your dose.  My suggestion when you get to this stage is to only make a small reduction, eg 1%-2.5% (ie NOT 10%) to see how you react to less of the drug.  If that goes okay then you could make a larger or full 10% reduction the next time.

It will depend on what form of the drug you are able to obtain how you will get the dose you need.

I suggest that you look into what you are able to get and then let us know and we can help work out how to get the small dose.

That is why it is very important to start with a very small dose.

Hi @Doctorsrcrap

I'm sorry it's rough going <3

By the way, do you use SA on a computer or on your phone? The site works much better on a computer, and it's easier to use the search function to find topics and read other members' threads.

The need for solitude and silence is very common in WD. It's also common in people recovering from concussions and other brain injuries. It may be a general brain thing. But yes, normal in WD.

You have garden-variety withdrawal syndrome. Nobody seems to like it.

It's up to you to decide whether you can tolerate your symptoms to allow natural recovery, which can take months, or if you want to try a low-dose reinstatement to reduce them, stabilize for some time, and taper off by tiny amounts later.

You have a normal state of antidepressant withdrawal syndrome. It is not particularly severe.

Have your symptoms gotten worse over the last 10 days?

On 8/14/2022 at 1:44 PM, Altostrata said:

Typically, withdrawal symptoms gradually decrease, including the mental symptoms. Up to you whether you want to see more of a natural recovery over some more weeks or reinstate. If symptoms get progressively worse over a week, you might consider reinstatement.

If they have gotten worse and you feel you need to do something to treat it, suggest you reinstate a low dose of venlafaxine, such as 5mg. This topic explains how to make a low dose Tips for tapering off venlafaxine (Effexor)

If you start taking a benzo regularly, the risk is you will become physiologically dependent on it and when you want to stop, you will need to taper that, too. In UK, doctors don't like to prescribe benzos for more than a couple of weeks. You can become dependent on it in that time and will have to beg your doctor to continue it so you can taper off.

Yeah they have popped me on and off of benzos over the last year which is annoying.

It feels pretty bad withdrawal wise. Ended up in a and e because my anger and panic was out of control.

Can't seem to control my emotions. I wonder what makes you say it's not so bad. I mean thst makes me slightly relieved if you think that I'm not a bad case haha
