Join these scholars to discuss their work and yours…

Peter Breggin, M.D. This Harvard-trained psychiatrist has been the “Conscience of Psychiatry” for decades, a pioneer whose insightful warnings about the dangers of psychopharmaceuticals are finally getting deserved attention. His new book, Psychiatric Drug Withdrawal: A Guide for Prescribers, Therapists, Patients & their Families, will help rescue millions from the huge population of over-medicated world citizens.

Joanne Cacciatore, Ph.D., LMSW, FT. Founder of the MISS Foundation, an international nonprofit organization with 78 chapters worldwide which aids parents whose infants or children have died or are dying, Dr. Cacciatore is an outspoken critic of the proposed changes in the DSM-5 in which bereavement is destined to be pathologized. She will help you understand why tens of thousands of mental health professionals have petitioned the APA to cease and desist in the ill-advised revision of the DSM.

Irving Kirsch, Ph.D. A recent guest on the acclaimed CBS newsmagazine, 60-Minutes, this Harvard-based scientist produced the most comprehensive evaluation of anti-depressants revealing effectiveness only comparable to placebo for all but a few patients being treated for depression. Dr. Kirsch helped to expose the questionable science tactics behind the marketing of anti-depressants that created an unrealistic impression of these potentially dangerous drugs.

Gretchen LeFever, Ph.D. The prevalence of ADHD is reported by the CDC to have increased by over 5% each year from 2003-2007 with some states reporting rates today of over 15%! Dr. LeFever, a clinical/developmental psychologist, will draw on her own research experience with this seeming epidemic to address the highly variable prevalences and treatment approaches throughout the U.S.

Jonathan Leo, Ph.D. Professor of Neuroanatomy and Associate Dean of Students at LMU-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine and Editor of Ethical Human Psychology and Psychiatry, Dr. Leo has been a courageous ctritic of the biochemical imbalance theory and the abuses of science in promoting it. His work exposed ghost writing and conflicts of interest that contaminated research reports of psychopharmaceutical efficacies only to discover an arrogant resistance to criticism by high-ranking members of the medical establishment.

Ethan Watters. When Prozac was ready for release, there was a marketing dilemma in Japan, i.e., there was no word for “depression” in the Japanese vocabulary. Learn how this “problem” was solved and how U.S. versions of schizophrenia, PTSD, and eating disorders have contaminated some Eastern and African cultures. The brilliant work of this science journalist reveals the mercenary penetration of world cultures by American-brand approaches to mental illness.

Robert Whitaker. Acclaimed science journalist, Pulitzer finalist, author of Mad in America, and most recently, Anatomy of an Epidemic. In this brilliant work, Whitaker investigates the mystery around the fact that the number of disabled mentally ill in the U.S. has tripled over the past two decades. See why his work earned him the 2010 Investigative Reporters and Editors book award for best investigative journalism!

You. This is your opportunity to join this group of scholars to challenge their work or to help re-define approaches to mental health in the future. Defend the status quo or contribute to Mental Health Tomorrow and Advance the Paradigm Shift. link
