vickytoria
Hi, I’m 49 years old and have been on and off fluoxetine most of my life. March 22 I decided to come off it (40mg) as was so incredibly happy new job etc I also came off hrt (full hysterectomy 2015) as nhs had ran out and dr said yeah just come off it. I never knew menopause could cause depression my drs never ever mentioned it so was always given anti depressants. Anyway August 22 major crash I went back on fluoxetine 20 mg for 3 weeks but just stopped as the side effects made me severely ill and was in a&e feeling so unwell. Tried HRT again (stil not knowing this can give you anxiety when starting I was never told) and in November asked about Escitilopram as heard less side effects. 10mg first week then 20 mg for the next 2 weeks. Ever since then I cannot fall asleep literally. As soon as I do I wake up in a state panic/adrenaline surges. I stopped taking them cold Turkey as the side effects again were so severe aswell as sleep deprivation I couldn’t do it. Mental health crisis team gave me zopiclon and lorazepam to get me some sleep. I was on this for a week or so then was prescribed promethazine anti histamine. I was on this for a few weeks but during all this time I was still waking with panic attacks aswell as feeling drugged the next day. I stopped taking everything and paid a nutritionist. I’m on some really healthy supplements but my sleep is getting worse I’m literally having none. Panic attacks after panic attacks. I’m at a loss I don’t know how much longer I can do this for. No one can help me it seems. I’m under a menopause specialist and getting that right but something is wrong, I’ve lost my life I can’t work, interact properly I have no life and no energy to live it.
