originally planned to jump off at 1mg, which I will hit in a few weeks, but that ain't gonna happen. Revised plan is for .5-.4mgs which should happen next summer some time.

And i was just starting to get ready to pop the cork on the bubbly oh well i think it will keep for a bit longer ... that is a wise move.

Im sure a few more months will guarantee a safe landing for sure. The last thing you want is for the Halloween Haunt to turn into a reality show.

Wow, you sure are patient with this slow end of the taper. Is so good for me to read and know that this is just how it is sometimes. I'll keep following, see how it goes for you.

Brasss, glad halloween went well, and Monica is coming slong. I cant type either and Im not going to correct it, so you can see for yourself, lol. I have been waving for a week and a half...more of the depressive crap than the adrenaline weird stuff this time. Loads of stress lately though and that cant help. I too am waiting to jump off closer to .5. It even occured to me to jump off at .3 or .1!!! I wonder f thats overkill though. I just know with how reactive I still am with stress...it cant hurt. i no longer have a time line, just a number of drops...when i take them remains to be seen, lol.

Well the WDs have decided to play rough the past few days. My last drop was two weeks ago and everything was going fine except for a few hours of agitation and irrational anger here and there, until yesterday. Mid morning I got hit with brain fog, fuzzy face and tingly hands like I was experiencing over a year ago. Had to really slow things down and pay very close attention to what I was doing so I could get things right and not injure myself. Luckily I'm in a position where I can do that. Things settled down somewhat by mid afternoon but continued with strong body aches well into the evening. I felt fairly okay when I got up, but now by midmorning break I'm starting to feel it all again.

I was ging to tpw without correction on the above pargrph, but it would hacr beeninintelligable. Somewhat like this entense is tiruning out.

That's really the way that sentence came out without correction. It's weird, some days I'm 40wpm by touch and others I can't hit two correct keys in a row. Anybody want a pair of worn out hands with a bad brain interface, for sale cheap.

20 years on Paxil starting at 20mg and working up to 40mg. Sept 2011 started 10% every 6 weeks taper (2.5% every week for 4 weeks then hold for 2 additional weeks), currently at 7.9mg. Oct 2011 CTed 15oz vodka a night, to only drinking 2 beers most nights, totally sober Feb 2013.

Since I wrote this I have continued to decrease my dose by 10% every 6 weeks (2.5% every week for 4 weeks and then hold for an additional 2 weeks). I added in an extra 6 week hold when I hit 10mg to let things settle out even more. When I hit 3mgpw it became hard to split the drop into 4 parts so I switched to dropping 1mgpw (pill weight) every week for 3 weeks and then holding for another 3 weeks. The 3 + 3 schedule turned out to be too harsh so I cut back to dropping 1mgpw every 4 weeks which is working better.

Final Dose 0.016mg. Current dose 0.000mg 04-15-2017

Brass -

I'm sorry you're having such a tough time.

Your thread should be read by anyone thinking of tapering too fast or going CT. I mean, you have been very slow and patient and now look---you are at what most (if not all) doctors would consider a "silly" dose to be on yet you are having problems! My doctor even recommended jumping off my Citalopram at 5mg.

I hope this is a mini-wave and that you are back to a clear window in no time!

My last drop was this weird too. Up and down. It will change. It will get better.

Sometimes I think it's the trouble to get the exact dose on these tiny amounts that mess things up. A slightly difference make more of a change than on the higher doses. But I dont know.

Anyway, I walk side by side with you on almost the same dose (but on zoloft).

Hugs!

Started on 25 mg Zoloft in March 2011 due to stressrelated tinnitus that gave me panicattacks. Had a terrible reaction to Zoloft from start, but was told to "hold on". After four months I was stuck. Therefore the long taper. Crazy, I know... Super sensitive to drops and have dropped by 4-6 % from the previous dose.

I wonder that too Amy

For example my pill powder/bits weigh .10g to give me .7mg of active ingredient. When I weigh it, the scale flickers from .09 to.11 and can barely settle, I could be taking last months dose , or leaping ahead every night. I hate it. I wont switch to making liquid because I don't know what Im doing and the idea of changing ANYthing with my meds scares me even at this ridiculous dose. Ive tried putting the calibration weight in th tray too but its not much better. Maybe new batteries, I don't know. I think its bc it such a small amount.

It's the same for me Aberdeen. My pill should weigh .04 g and it so hard to tell when it's right because it's jumping between .03 and .05 (and sometimes higher). It takes half an hour to weigh the dose each day. I would never change to liquid now. Too scared for that.

I just wanted to say thank you for posting about your journey. I really like how you stated you wanted to keep living in spite of the AD WD ~ I feel the same way, I will not be defined by this! In fact, knowing the physical symptoms are actually WD have really helped me.

Anyway, I hope you are feeling good today.

On Zoloft for 10 years (50 mg) for GAD & panic attacks

Weaned off fall of 2013, terrible set back in Feb '14 back on 100 mg & trazadone to sleep.

Did CT off of Zoloft in May 2014 - bad decision!

Back on 50 mg Zoloft & Xanax as needed (was upped to 75 mg by doctor in Feb 2015)

Started to wean off of Zoloft in April 2015 ~ totally off Zoloft in Oct 2015 and now am on Buspar 11.25 mg to help.

I was on a 50 mg pill & 25 mg pill - I cut the 25 mg pill in half (12.5) and took that with the 50 for 6 weeks - 1st week June 2015

50 mg for another 6 weeks. 25 mg in half and the 50 mg in half (37.5), 25 mg mid Sept for about 2 weeks.,1/2 of the 25 mg last week of Sept/1st week of Oct then off.

Update** 9 mg Zoloft reinstated early Nov 15, along with 1.5 mg Buspar daily. On .50 of Buspar & 9 mg of Zoloft. Oct '16 - off of Buspar, Nov '16 - down to 7.5 mg Zoloft. March'17 - 4 mg Zoloft. July'17 - 2 mg, Sept 1 mg. Oct'17 - off! Done!

I also take magnesium, L theanine, Gaba Calm, L Glutamine, Vit B complex(for methyl issues), Liver & Gall bladder support, Zinc, Whole Food Vit C & Fish Oil. DARE & the bible are the tools I use to help navigate this process.

Thank you all for the support, I really appreciate it. It hit me again yesterday not long after I posted. A short nap at lunch helped a lot, but still had a little bit the rest of the day. Had a rather restless night which hasn't helped and can feel a bit of the fog creeping in. It's hit at the same time both days so we shall see what happens in the next hour or so.

KLA-- it really is such a "silly little dose" it's hard to believe. I know that there are some situational factors at play, but nothing that should cause this kind of reaction.

Bromor-- That's an excellent attitude to have, I wish more people here would adopt it. I've had to remain flexible, because it can really beat you up at times, so I've had to make some concessions, but that is to be expected.

A & A-- I have to agree about the small dosing being hard to weigh out. I have found that any little air movement or touching the table can cause things to jump around. However, the system is working and I don't feel like mucking it up by changing to liquid. Side by side the whole way down with both of you, such good company to be in.

Ha, I noticed the air current thing too, especially when the central air conditioning was on it was awful. At the miniscule doses I just estimated because it wouldn't work at all. I just took the amount that was the size of this " . " ( Small text on iPad ) for the last 6 weeks or so. Hope things clear up soon for you brass as they always have and will.

Hi Aberdeen, hope all is going well with you. If you are anything like me you will notice the anhedonia lifting slowly after you are off for months. It is getting better all the time. I do of course hit some rough patches though..

Paxil start September 2003 due to Fluoroquinolone adverse reaction that I wish doc. knew what it was. 10mg. most of the time with a few short runs of 20mg. FAST tapered 3 times and finally hit poop out or a reaction to nsaid's in Nov.2013. Started a 10% taper Jan. 2014 and have been ok until Sept 14 and went through a short hell. Now plodding through and looking for the light with unrelenting insomnia and pain, fog, loss of interests....
12/20/14 - .8mg.

1/01/15 - .75 mg.

1/15/15 - .42 mg. better sleep now, hope it continues...

2/11-15 - .25 mg. doing really good!! 2 weeks feel 85% of old me!

3/17/15 .14 mg. Knee pain bad!

4/07/15 .05 mg. this is so small now that I am estimating and just licking it off palm small as a "."

4/13/15 NOTHING !!!! Took my last little micro dose on 4/12/15.

Hi Tom,

I went through about 3/4 of your thread. I'm probably gonna read it until the end and follow all your posts. Your patience, rationality and perseverance are inspirational. You have such an analytical mind. Your positive attitude helps me tackle my WD issues. I just turn into this "mute" mode sometimes, because of suffering and all the stuff going on IRL.

I wish you could find a pdoc with whom you could be honest about your current Paxil dose and who would support your taper. That would be helpful. I've had such a pdoc for 5 years. Well, he's learnt a lot about my being intolerant to psychiatric medication, through "trial and error" method, unfortunately...

You don't have to battle insomnia, which is great. That is really a big asset. I envy you a lot. But I'm happy for you at the same time.

And above all - you have your "rock" Monica. Thirty-six years is such a long time. I hope everything will be OK with her... Love is the most important thing in life, the most important support one can get.

I'm sorry you're in a wave now. But it will pass. Just be patient with it, as you have always been. You are invaluable to people here, just remember that...

Big hugs to you,

Mel

Thanks everyone. Things have calmed down a lot yesterday and today. I had a lot on my pate yesterday, so had good distraction all day long. I did notice some fog and fuzziness during break times, but ended up having a very successful day. I have been a bit off all morning, but only just enough to be noticeable. Half day today, so lunch at the cemetery with the squirrels, a couple of errands then home for some small projects and a nap.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Good to hear Brass. Enjoy the weekend.

I posted this to Rachelina just now and wanted to keep a record here also;

When you have recovered, which you will, your spirit will have dominated over one of the blackest foes in creation. In my belief system a persons spirit is inextractibly intertwined with all of creation and in spite of the blows and damage it sustains, because of that interconnection it will survive and thrive. The only thing that can block it is to loose faith in its ability to do so. The small glimpses you get are its reminding you that it is there and not to loose faith. The battle we face in WD is often the hardest thing a person will do in their life. But the spirits will to survive is what will get us through. This is why it is so important to get out into nature when ever possible while in WD, so the spirit can maintain its connection, recharge itself and be ready for the next onslaught. Now go outside, enjoy the fall color and let the connected spirit flow into you.

I'll go back to my mountain top now.

Posted this on another thread and wanted to have a record here:

Spirituality, because it involves the mind and body on so many levels could almost be seen as an emotion. It certainly requires a lot of emotional input, analysis, self discovery and the like, all of which are blunted and highly suppressed by these drugs. So it makes sense that ones connection to the universal oom would be blunted and suppressed also. To me, spirituality is one step to the conscience side of base values/beliefs in that it is the conscience interpretation of those base values/beliefs into visible actions and reactions with the outside world. For so many using ADs and in WD even our base values/beliefs are called into question, so trying to interpret them into actions is next to impossible.

This gives us a unique second chance to reexamine, reevaluate and rebuild our lives. Because our base values/beliefs have been called into question and everything else we hold as "true" is burned away by the "fire" of the experience we can learn from our past mistakes, see what is really important in the world, understand the true meaning of friendship/relationships and take our new found inner strength and rebuild our lives into something many times better than what we had. And through that rebuilding our own spirituality (and spirituality is a highly individual thing) will grow once again.

I'll go back to my mountain top now.

Sounds like you've an interesting time to say the least. I've been so busy I haven't had time to get on in a while. I hope things continue to get better and better. I am having to sit a lot longer in between drops. I am about where you are 7.12 with luvox is supposed to be comparable to 1.2 with paxil according to crazy meds with their non-linear half lives. I'll keep you and yours in my thoughts.

Continued my taper by dropping to 14mgpw (1.12mg) yesterday. And of course today the "life" stress levels have gone way up. Monica finally got approval for the consult with the big wig surgeon for her stomach problems. She only got about an house sleep last night and has to drive to the other side of Los Angeles and back today, which makes me very nervous. She'll be fine, I'm just super protective.

Thank you ladies. The appointment went very well, we both feel she is in very good hands. The big sticking point is the time frame. The first surgery is scheduled for February and with the discomfort she's in that seems like a long time off. But there is a lot to get done/coordinated in the meantime and she has a very good attitude.

Had an excellent Thanksgiving, just the two of us. Spent time together cooking a small feast and enjoying it while watching the football games. It's taken a long time but I have started to build a real appreciation for the sport. It was nice having a day to just sit and relax. It was also wonderful to be in a place where I could enjoy helping with the cooking and spend time doing something together. Even did some online Black Friday shopping. I've come a long ways in the past several years, and more improvement to come.

I hope everyone who celebrated the holiday had a good one, and everyone else had a good day too.

Rachalina made this wonderful post. I am parking it here while I try to find the Best of SA thread to repost it there with her permission.

Something I wrote in my journal: "The feeling that spirit and love are gone from me is an illusion caused by fear. My fear is so strong that it obscures the love that is still, always, there. Paxil withdrawal can cause this extreme terror, but it can't touch my spirit, because spirit comes from someplace deeper, someplace beyond brain chemistry. Spirit is indestructible. It's not even temporarily gone, I just can't feel it because the fear is so strong."

Thanks for your visit to my thread, Brass. What a difference a year makes (or a day, or an hour, or second, or nano-second... lol ). I've kept somewhat current on your last couple thread pages, nice to read all the support flowing out and coming in. Your Thanksgiving dinner with Monica sounded lovely.

Big Maine bear (((((((((( HUGS )))))))))) coming across the miles to you and Monica. (Might be a touch of frost attached to some of them, 20's this evening, brrrrr.)

It seems that the WD pattern has decided to shift from the first week to the third. The body aches and pain had been increasing steadily for the past several days and today I'm getting hit with the fuzzies and dizzies. My face, hands and arms have a fuzzy feeling to them like there isn't the smooth demarcation between the skin and the air and they feel a bit swollen but it's not visible. Throw in some mild depression with underlying anxiety and agitation and I'm just about to start looking for my rock to crawl under. If it goes like the last couple of times things should break in a couple of days, but I think I will stretch my hold another week just to let things settle.

Effexor 75mg to 262.5mg 2005-2010 for post partum depression

Started having poop out mid 2010, also switched generic brands, then crashed in Dec 2010 (anxiety/ "terror", intense DR, anhedonia, suicidal ideation, chills, insomnia, horrible intrusive thoughts, disorientation, ect)
Rapid "tapered" from 262.5mg Effexor in 3 months

Tried Celexa,Cipralex, then Paxil to deal with wd(this switching made things worse and added akathesia)

Found online support and started tapering Paxil 7 months after quitting Effexor (at this point was having small windows).

Paxil taper: dropped 10% every 4-8 weeks

Year 1 October 2011 to Nov 2012 20mg to 10mg

Year 2 March 2013 to Feb 2014 10mg to 4mg

Year 3 April 2014 to May 2015 4mg to 1.1mg

Year 4 June 2015 1.1mg , dropping by 10% until .5mg, after then dropped by 0.1mg every 5 weeks until 0.1mg.

Thank you ladies-- it always makes me feel better when you drop by. I hope you're all doing well.

I think they're actually not as bad as further back in the taper, but they are a lot more noticeable because I'm feeling so much better in general. WDnormal is quickly approaching true normal so any downtick really stands out.

Hi Brass,

Have you ever seen this cartoon? I thought of it when you mentioned a rock to crawl under. It's from the 'Robot Hugs' blog.

2013-05-20-nest.png

2010 Fluoxetine 20mg. 2011 Escitalopram 20mg. 2013 Tapered badly and destabilised CNS. Effexor 150mg.

2015 Begin using info at SurvivingAntidepressants. Cut 10% - bad w/d 2 months, held 1 month.

Micro-tapering: four weekly 0.4% cuts, hold 4 weeks (struggling with symptoms).

8 month hold.

2017 Micro-tapering: four weekly 1% cuts, hold 4 weeks (symptoms almost non-existent).

2020 Still micro-tapering. Just over 2/3 of the way off effexor. Minimal symptoms, - and sleeping well.
Supplements: Fish oil, vitamin C, iron, oat-straw tea, nettle tea.

2023 Now on 7 micro-beads of Effexor. Minimal symptoms but much more time needed between drops.

That sums it up nicely sometimes. Thanks Karen.

Things are much better today. If they go in a similar manner to the lase couple of drops then I should be getting hit with something in the next hour or so. It will be interesting to see. Added to the aches and pains by Yule Tree shopping last night. Those things are heavy!!!!!!! Ended up digging about twenty of them out of the pile before we found one that wasn't too mangled. My arms have been reminding me of it all morning.
