How was your night Hudgens?

And how is today ..? I hope pleasant and uneventful ..

I read about you having lightheadedness, but still able to function and do things ..I do not think I have that ..Mine is dizziness that prevents me from being able to function ..I become unsteady on my feet .:(

I still remember your brother 's words and waiting for that beautiful window to open and stay that way ..:)

Also, I noticed that you talked about Tylenol helping ..Is that right?

If so, maybe I can try it too ..

I hope that you are having a good day and may it spills into the night ..

Thinking of you, and wishing you well dear Hudgens ..:)

Hello,
I am tapering Lorazepam, and my daily dose is 1.125 mgs.

I followed a long hold for 5 months, ( Nov-March 2019) hoping to find some stability,

but it did not work. So I resumed my taper and hold pattern.
For the last 3 years, I have been using a daily microtaper, cutting .001mgs per day, with holds as needed.
Symptoms are head pressure, labored breathing, palpitations, abrupt surges of dizziness, this being my worst symptom for now, internal tremors, my latest nemesis, unsteadiness, anxiety, plus many other symptoms that cycle in, and cycle out consistently. Not a day passes, without grief :(

I take no other meds.

January 2013 - 15 day quick taper off 10 mgs of Lexapro, and 25 mgs of Sertraline,

at a detox clinic.

I had premature heart beats, too. The doctor told me mine were the kind that were harmless, so I stopped worrying about them and they went away eventually.

Tylenol helps with the flu-like symptom, as it would help the real flu. Make sure you don't take more than maybe 6 in a 24 hour period. You can take 8 in a day but only for a sort period of time, say a week.

I think all of your symptoms are from the terrible anxiety you're experiencing from pretty much cold turkeying your 2 antidepressants. Unless your doctor finds something in May, there won't be any other explaination, and anxiety covers all of your symptoms. It's just hard to believe that when you're going through it yourself, I mean, hard to believe that the answer could be that simple. But that's what anxiety can do. It's got a 1000 faces. And the most simple and most obvious answer is most often the correct one. Of course, knowing the culprit doesn't stop the awful feelings, but it does get rid of the fear of there being some additional problem involved.

Last night I slept 5 hours. Some mild to moderate anxiety in the morning, which disappeared by 3pm, and a close to complete window for the rest of the day right up until now. So there's a real pattern to my days recently. I'm kind of back to window/wave days, that is, a bad part of the day and a good part of the day. So I can't complain too much. I painted for the first time in 3 weeks, which is good since I have two shows coming up quick, one in June, the other in August. Well, time to see what Huck and Jim are up to, a peaceful night to everyone, Hudgens

Hudgens, I am sorry that you are having some discomfort ..I wish that it will disappear in not too long ..

When you say sickly feeling, what do you mean? Is it like body aches?

This being the beggining of my 4 th month since antidepressants were abruptly stopped, has brought back old symptoms and some new ..

I thought, or I had hoped that as time goes by, that issues would settle .. not so :(

Thinking of you, and wishing that all your waves become permanent windows ..:)

Wishing you a healthy, uneventful day ..Lexicon

When I say "sickly" I mean flu-like symptom.

Today was good. Only got 3 hrs sleep last night, but that doesn't always mean a bad day for me. Lightheadedness got bad for a hour in early evening. Guess I'm doing alright at the moment. Hudgens

2-3 hours sleep last night, but as usual this didn't seem to bother me during the day, mild anxiety and lightheadedness upon waking (830 am, both becoming moderate by midday. Anxiety disappearing early afternoon. Lightheadedness easing in evening. Now 1040 pm almost feeling completely normal--which, of course, is very nice. I don't think I could call the last few days a window, but it's all been somewhere between bearable and good. Wishing everyone a peaceful night's rest, Hudgens

So glad to hear of these improvements! Do you think a lot is from the group you're going to, or just the healing of time?

1st round Prozac 1989/90, clear depression symptoms. 2nd round Prozac started 1999 when admitted to dr. I was tired. Prozac pooped out, switch to Cymbalta 3/2006. Diagnosed with bipolar disorder due to mania 6/2006--then I was taken abruptly off Cymbalta and didn't know I had SSRI withdrawal. Lots of meds for my intractable "bipolar" symptoms.

Zyprexa started about 9/06, mostly 5mg. Tapered 4/12 through12/29/12

Wellbutrin. XL 300 mg started 1/07, tapered 1/18/13 through 7/8/13

Oxazepam mostly continuously since 6/06, 30mg since 12/12, tapered 1.17.14 through 8.26.15

11/06 Lithium 600mg twice daily, 2.2.14 400mg TID DIY liquid, 2.12.14 1150mg, 3.2.14 1100mg, 3.18.14 1075mg, 4/14 updose to 1100mg, 6.1.14 900 mg capsules 7.8.14 810mg, 8.17.14 725mg, 8.24.24 700mg...10.22.14 487.5mg, 3.9.15 475mg, 4.1.15 462.5mg 4.21.15 450mg 8.11.15 375mg, 11.28.15 362.5mg, back to 375mg four days later, 3.4.16 updose to 475 (too much going on to risk trouble)

9/4/13 Toprol-XL 25mg daily for sudden hypertension, tapered 11.12.13 through 5.3.14, last 10 days or so switched to atenolol

7.4.14 Started Walsh Protocol

Most likely just time passing. The group turned out to be great. The therapist's understanding of Cognitive-Behavioral concepts seems inexhaustable. But I've only gone twice so far, so I doubt it's having that much of an effect yet. Hope you're doing well, Hudgens

Thanks, Meimei, but the tapering has only been difficult for the last 8 months. The first year and a half or so was nothing. Although, there were 2-3 uncharacteristic episodes of hypochondria as well as a few weeks of irritability that I didn't attribute to withdrawal at the time.

About 4 hours sleep last night, and no symptoms this morning. Anxiety began to come on early afternoon and is now, at bedtime, moderate. I also had some unsettling flashes of panic an hour ago, unusual. Got some more yard work done today, I may have overdone it a little. Trying to incorporate mindfulness meditation into my day, beginning yesterday. Looking to lower cortisol with that, vitamin C and excersice. Reading also helps, I think. Read an article today written by a sleep expert who said that if you think you're not getting much sleep, but aren't really sleepy during the day, you may be getting more than you think. For example, when I think I've only gotten 3 hours of sleep, I may have actually gotten 5 or 6. I do feel the need to take a nap everyday, but for the most part I never feel like I'm dragging myself through the day. I'm alert and my driving's OK. In the past, if I missed even an hour's sleep, I'd really notice it that day, and I've wondered why I've felt so normal during the day these past 8 months of 3-4 hours sleep each night? Could be that the Cortisol is energizing me, or that I really am getting more sleep than I think. All I know is that my percieved insomnia isn't much of a burden. Without a sleep study, I can never be sure. And so my withdrawal symptoms like brain fog, waking confusion, lightheadedness and anxiety might be simply caused by withdrawal from the antidepressant, and not, that is, caused or made worse by insomnia.

I like the 20 minutes of Mindfulness meditation I'm doing in the morning. To the extent it reduces cortisol it should also reduce symptoms, I'd think. And I would also think it's pretty safe to do. Anyone ever heard of someone being too oversensitized to tolerate meditation?

Stronger than usual anxiety this morning, but it didn't stop me from doing what needed to be done around the house or getting to my group meeting. I also found out I got a third place in the oils category in an art show in Stroudsburg, PA. I'm grateful for being able to remain fucntional in the middle of all this. I was really very anxious and dizzy during the group meeting today, and yet I got so interested in what was being said that I swear I forgot I wasn't feeling well several times and for several minutes. I mean to say, I really wasn't feeling well, but I was so focused on what was being said that it didn't seem to matter. I think that's the first time I've ever noticed that happening. Very strange, but nice. Anyway, anxiety and dizziness eased by about 8 PM. Still feeling OK at bedtime. Hope evryone has a peaceful night, Hudgens

Only one symptom for last day and a half-lightheadedness. Got bad in the middle of the afternoon, yesterday, and seems to be doing the same thing today. Guess it's better than anxiety or depression, but it still sucks pretty much. My mood is up but, when the dizziness gets bad, my energy is down and I get irritable, too. Yet, I seem to be more outgoing with just this one symptom, and it almost completely goes away at night. So I'm doing OK. I may even, as with everything so far, be getting used to it--or, I mean, to the point where it doesn't scare me when it happens. That it follows a pattern also helps. Hudgens

Thinking of you Hudgens, and wishing you a peaceful night ..

I feel bad that you have the dizzy ..this I know well ..:(

hoping that it will give you a break tomorrow ..

Hello,
I am tapering Lorazepam, and my daily dose is 1.125 mgs.

It disappeared by bedtime-or all but disappeared, anyway. Quite manageable now. Starts about mid-morning and gets worse in early evening, then quiets down an hour or two before bedtime. Must be cortisol. Hudgens

I'm still taking 1.4 mgs twice a day. AM dose at 10, and PM dose at 4.

Since the dizziness has become more or less the predominant symptom (about two weeks now) and since it follows a definite daily pattern-I've become more outgoing and just noticably more functional than ever. I could almost see myself living like this. I have a normal feeling of well being with this.

If things go on like this, I could see myself making a cut in a bout three weeks to a month.

Do you mean .14mg twice a day?

Hmmm....you're right, maybe hold for a bit and the symptom will go away.

Hi Hudgens, I'm really glad you are feeling better, this is such a slow progress

isn't it? I was absolutely devastated when I learned that to get better it would

have to be a slow taper but we are getting there :). I know exactly what you mean

about the dizziness!

**I am not a medical professional, if in doubt please consult a doctor with withdrawal knowledge.

Different drugs occasionally (mostly benzos) 1976 - 1981 (no problem)

1993 - 2002 in and out of hospital. every type of drug + ECT. Staring with seroxat

2002  effexor.

Tapered  March 2012 to March 2013, ending with 5 beads.

Withdrawal April 2013 . Reinstated 5 beads reduced to 4 beads May 2013

Restarted taper  Nov 2013

OFF EFFEXOR Feb 2015    :D

Tapered atenolol and omeprazole Dec 2013 - May 2014

Tapering tramadol, Feb 2015 100mg , March 2015 50mg

 July 2017 30mg.  May 15 2018 25mg

Lesson learned, slow down taper at lower doses. Taper no more than 10% of CURRENT dose if possible

Yes, slow is the word. Today the lightheadedness was much less apparent. Not much of any other symptom either. Best day in a while. I caught myself 2-3 times forgetting that I'd been going through all this for the last 8 months. I'm starting to get why people forget to write success stories-once you start feeling better, you really do pretty much forget you'd ever felt worse.(The mind naturally want's to repress all that bad stuff and get on with the good stuff.) When I have a good day like today, I instantly develope an aversion to some degree to going on this site at all. Very normal, no doubt. I honestly hope you're feeling well, Hudgens

Thanks, Fizz, I felt good for most of the day today, and got a good night's rest last night-but late this afternoon nausea hit for about 4 hours. I'm OK again now, just in time for bed. Seems like it was a pretty good week, though. Hope you're doing well as well. Hudgens

Maybe 4 hours of sleep last night, got quite a lot done today, however. No lightheadedness or anxiety, just some mild depression and one intense flash (about 2 seconds) of bad depression, hard to explain, horrible for even 2 seconds. My mood is much better at bedtime, normal really. So I'm off to read a hour or so before sleep. Lots of peaceful rest to everyone, Hudgens

Moderate anxiety set in a few hours after going to bed last night. I got an hour or two of sleep in three intervals, waking up each time inbetween these with more anxiety. Then I had the same anxiety all day, although some times it backed off to a more mild form. Right now it's back up to uncomfortably moderate, maybe the worst it's been all day. So I'd have to say this was a bad day. No appetite for the second half of the day. It may ease now as I read myself to sleep, accept for last night, this is what usually happens with PM anxiety. So we'll see. I guess the fact that I can read in bed at all is a good sign. Hudgens

Another night like the previous, although the anxiety seemed worse. Abdominal breathing, plus neck message and messaging just beneath my right ear took the edge off of the anxiety each time I woke up with it after one or two hours of sleep.

So far today the anxiety is somewhwere between mild to moderate. So I've changed from lightheadedness to anxiety as the dominant, and really, the only symptom I'm experiencing. Though there's some lowering of mood, too-although not the entier day, just when the anxiety gets more intense.

Going to try 2 tylenol and a hot bath, just to relax me a little before going to my mindfulness/cognitive-behavioral group therapy meeting. I usually feel better after these meetings, even if I don't during them. Hudgens
