Meimeiquest
What are your "I feel like I'm dying" symptoms? I get the "wishing" symptom, very sorry. How are you spending your time, assuming you're not sleeping. What do you do with all the hours? 1st round Prozac 1989/90, clear depression symptoms. 2nd round Prozac started 1999 when admitted to dr. I was tired. Prozac pooped out, switch to Cymbalta 3/2006. Adagiooo
I feel like my whole body is terribly, terribly sick, the horrible nerve pain in my feet is moving up to my legs. I feel like I'm going crazy...not delusional but like I just can't take one more minute of this. My joints, muscles and bones hurt. My mind is clear but very very troubled and the fatigue I feel is beyond anything I've ever experienced. I can't concentrate on anything for very long, I'm no longer able to read books. I can only read online. I have slight akathesia so I sometimes walk around the house when it hits. The worst part of all of this is knowing how much medicine I have left to get off of. I have no confidence in my ability to do it. If I had a gun... I spend most of my time reading online playing video games or watching tv. I go on errands...like to the store maybe two times a week...it feels like torture but I do it anyway. Every morning I go for a short walk around my neighborhood...this too feels like torture but I force myself to do this too. I don't/can't sleep during the day. I talk on to the phone to my mother, sister and husband at least one time a day. But now talking is starting to make the nerve pain even worse. My body and my mind feel like they are at war with me and I can't seem to settle down. I distract, distract, distract but the torture just creeps in. I'm in hell. 2001-04 Polypharmacy to include Paxil,Celexa, Risperdal, Seroquel, Depakote, Ambien, Geodon, Valium, Ativan, Haldol 03/04-11/04 Abilify 11/04-05/07 CT Abilify Non symptomatic 6/07 took Valium, began to experience altered reality and physical symptoms of withdrawal from Valium. 07/08. Meimeiquest
That doesn't sound like fun at all. Maybe both mental and physical akathisia, plus nerve pain. No doubt that akathisia is the.worst.symptom.ever. Adagiooo
Hi Redmanone, I was forcibly injected with Invega while in the hospital in 2012. My plan was to stay off all meds but the insomnia became so bad for me that I had to go back in the hospital and was put on risperdal and clonazepam. If you read my signature you'll see that I am now on clonazepam, Restoril and risperdal. I've tapered the risperdal to 1 mg but I'm suffering from severe side effects from the risperdal and the benzos. I do experience some relief from cognitive brain fog when I drop a dose of the risperdal, but for the most part I am suffering terribly. If you can in any way manage it I would advise against you going on anymore meds...especially not another antipsychotic. When the Invega was coming out of my system I experienced some anxiety but the main problem for me was the insomnia. This may not happen to you...I hope it doesn't. One or more of the moderators may advise you differently but if I had to do it all over again I would have tried to fight my way through. If you're still sleeping and don't experience debilitating withdrawals then maybe you can make it without the AP. I do know for a fact that after coming off APs the anhedonia and sexual dysfunction does go away...it may take some time but it does abate. You are on other meds so I don't know what part they will play in all this. I hope you start to feel better soon. Hang on and try your very best to stay away from the antipsychotics...especially Invega, risperdal and Zyprexa. You can do this. And try not to be afraid. You will start to feel better soon with the Invega out of your body. 2001-04 Polypharmacy to include Paxil,Celexa, Risperdal, Seroquel, Depakote, Ambien, Geodon, Valium, Ativan, Haldol 03/04-11/04 Abilify 11/04-05/07 CT Abilify Non symptomatic 6/07 took Valium, began to experience altered reality and physical symptoms of withdrawal from Valium. 07/08. Redmanone
Thanks Adagiooo, i will try. Its just so hard being so emotionless and knowing that there is nothing i can do about it. Adagiooo
Hi Redmanone, I'm sorry you're struggling. I wish there were something more I could do for you. Antipsychotics are so toxic and coming off of them can really be a challenge. Unfortunately, the challenge doesn't always end right after we stop the drugs. I can't speak to sexual dysfunction and invega because I went right from the Invega to the risperdal BUT I have been on and discontinued Abilify, Seroquel and Geodon (I only took geodon for a few days). My sexual function came back within about six months ( I wasn't on any other meds). Everybody is different though so yours might return sooner. Also be mindful that you're on 2 other drugs that might be impacting you in some way...probably not the Wellbutrin but perhaps the Zoloft. You might want to do some reading to see what others are saying about Zoloft and sexual dysfunction. I understand how you feel about being emotionless. I've noticed as I taper the risperdal my brain fog gets better but I only seem to be able to experience negative emotions...otherwise I'm pretty flat. Yeah, it sucks. I've tried lots of different things and you're right, nothing seems to help. You'll get through this though. Just give it some time. Try to hold on to the fact that you're OFF the Invega. Knowing you no longer have to put that poison in your body is something to be celebrated. Please note I am not minimizing what you're going through. I get it, I really do. Sexual dysfunction and being emotionless are very, very distressing. I just know how psychologically damaging it is to me to have to keep taking this Risperdal and the benzos. I hope you can find some comfort in having stopped the Invega. Take good care of yourself and just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Sending you a big ((((((((hug))))))). 2001-04 Polypharmacy to include Paxil,Celexa, Risperdal, Seroquel, Depakote, Ambien, Geodon, Valium, Ativan, Haldol 03/04-11/04 Abilify 11/04-05/07 CT Abilify Non symptomatic 6/07 took Valium, began to experience altered reality and physical symptoms of withdrawal from Valium. 07/08. Redmanone
thanks adagiooo, im guessing it will be about 6 months before i notice significant improvement in my sexual function too. im at month 3 and its about next to none. although it has improved somewhat, i think that it has been so gradual that i fail to notice. i have a question if you dont mind me asking, Is your doctor making you continue the risperdal or are you willingly taking it? i am just a curious little man. anyway thanks for the uplifting response. Adagiooo
Redmanone, the one and ONLY reason why I'm taking the risperdal and the benzos is because of insomnia. If I could stop all the drugs tomorrow I would. But risperdal is very tricky and I have found that I need to taper slowly or I experience the most terrifying insomnia imaginable. And now because of insomnia I'm in the benzo trap too. I'm really screwed! The only time I have been forced to take meds was one time in the hospital. I was floridly psychotic but very, very functional and refused all meds while in the hospital. They kept me for 30 days. After a month, just as I was about to sign myself out AMA they decided they would get the law involved. I have never had a doctor tell me that I HAD to take something except for that one time. I would refuse to work with a doctor who felt he/she had a right to FORCE me to take anything. Up to this point I have always been able to take myself off of meds, sometimes but not always with the best results. I believe the two Invega shots I received in the hospital, then discontinued caused the insomnia which led to all the drugs I'm now on. Nevertheless, this is the longest I have ever continuously been on meds...it's been about 2 1/2 years and it's killing me. 2001-04 Polypharmacy to include Paxil,Celexa, Risperdal, Seroquel, Depakote, Ambien, Geodon, Valium, Ativan, Haldol 03/04-11/04 Abilify 11/04-05/07 CT Abilify Non symptomatic 6/07 took Valium, began to experience altered reality and physical symptoms of withdrawal from Valium. 07/08. Iamfine
I wouldn't worry too much about the Clonazepam, I cold turkeyed off 3 mg and noticed nothing other than feeling better. I don't want you to do this, and I don't mean to minimize others' suffering, but not everybody has a problem getting off Clonazepam. As requested. In the last 3 years to the best of my recollection I first dropped the max dose of Lamictal. Yes I just stopped it was doing absolutely nothing. Then I dropped Lexapro, that was even easier I had been on and off that a dozen times before. There were at least 2 odd off label attempts at anxiety that I won’t be able to remember. Then there was sweet/evil Seroquel. That was the last to go it’s been around 16 months. Moderator Emeritus Petunia Posted June 26, 2015 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted June 26, 2015 Hi Ada, I just caught up with your thread and wanted to say hello, you sound much better than when you first arrived here. These are my opinions based on my own experience and what I've learned. I really don't feel any better about my prospects for getting off of these meds but posting on the site and trying to connect with people and support them through their suffering has been good for me. It gets me out of my own head for a few minutes. I hope you are well an your vitamin C experiment is continuing to help you feel a little more like you. Take care. Adagiooo
I tried something about 8 days ago that would probably not be recommended but I was suffering so much on the risperdal I had to "do" something. Yes, I know that, too, is a symptom of withdrawal. I've had some success with coming off Abilify so I asked my doctor to switch out the risperdal 1mg for abilify 2.5 mg. I was afraid of being on two antipsychotics at once so I tried a cold switch. Since Abilify is considered activating and risperdal is considered sedating I took the Abilify in the morning. That night I was left with 15 mg of Restoril and 1 mg of K at bedtime and 1mg K at 4 am. Well, I was awake all night. I tried again the next night, but I took the Abilify in the afternoon...again, I was awake all night. On the third and final night I tried to take the Abilify at night. After four hours of lying awake I got up and took the risperdal. I was able to get some sleep. Not only did I not sleep but the pain in my feet seemed to increase one hundred fold. The pain was so unbearable I cried almost all day and all night. That felt like my last hope. I thought if I could get on a different antipsychotic...one that doesn't make me so tired I would have a little bit of hope. The experiment failed and my hope is pretty much gone. I try to give others on this site encouragement and hope but the truth is I have almost none. At this point I know that if I had a sure fire way of ending things I would do it, without hesitation 2001-04 Polypharmacy to include Paxil,Celexa, Risperdal, Seroquel, Depakote, Ambien, Geodon, Valium, Ativan, Haldol 03/04-11/04 Abilify 11/04-05/07 CT Abilify Non symptomatic 6/07 took Valium, began to experience altered reality and physical symptoms of withdrawal from Valium. 07/08. LoveandLight
Aww Adagiooo I'm so sorry. I wish there was something to help..is there any other antipsychotic you could try? Big hug xxx 2000 - sertraline for job anxiety low confidence (17 years old) ..which turned the next 16 years into nightmare! On/off sertraline severe withdrawals every time. 2014 - felt better as reduced dose of sertraline no more inner restlessness. Doctor rushed off again. Hit severe withdrawal. Lost the little I had in life. Couldn't get stable again on 12.5mg. Was switched to prozac. Had severe reaction to prozac..came off in November 2015 at 6mg as felt more confused and damaged on it..Even more withdrawal ..rage, depression, dyphoria, near constant suicidal ideation, self harm impulses, doom, concrete block in head, unable to do much of anything with this feeling in head..went back on 6mg of sertraline to see if would alleviate anything. It didn't..reduced from December to June 2016 came off at 2.5mg sertraline as was hospitalised for the severe rage, suicidal impulses, and put on 50mg lofepramine which in 2nd week reduced all symptoms but gave insomnia which still have..psych stopped lofepramine cold turkey..no increased withdrawal symptoms new symptoms from lofepramine except persistant insomnia which has as side effect. Taking Ativan for 8 months for the severe rage self harm impulses 1-3 times a week (mostly 2 times a week) at .5mg. Two months (I'm unsure exactly when the interdose started to happen) ago interdose withdrawal seemed to happen..2 days I think after the Ativan. Nightmare that could have been avoided! Adagiooo
I've tried almost all the others at some point and the one I haven't tried, zyprexa is just not something I'm willing to risk. The side effect profile is worse than risperdal, so... The only other "maybe" possibility is Seroquel. But that has given me psychosis in the past so I'm really afraid to try it again. I haven't completely ruled it out though. Thanks for your concern LoveandLight. Today, for some reason I'm more hopeless than ever. I think it's because the Abilify switch was something I was holding onto as a possibility. I hope you're feeling better and that your depression has lifted for you. bluebalu86
Hi Adagio, wishing you peace and sending you healing thoughts I suffer from depression, anxiety, pure-o ocd, and panic attacks since 2004. Been on multiple different psychiatric drugs since 2006. Never had a significant WD problem before, only brain zaps for a month and then I'd be fine...............Been on Cipralex (escitalopram) 15 mg and Fluanxol (flupentixol) 1 mg since Sep 2014. Stopped taking the Cipralex after a fast 20-day taper.Took the last 5 mg Cipralex on Feb 5th, 2015. Then took Seroxat (paroxetine) 10 mg for a week, and stopped it too. Severe WD started suddenly on Feb 16th. RI 5 mg Cipralex on Feb 18th, 2015. RI worked and was relatively stable for a while................April 7 - decreased Fluanxol from 1 mg to 0.5 mg and took it at this dose for a week. - BIG MISTAKE; April 13 - WD starts creeping in; April 14 - RI full dose of Fluanxol 1 mg => severe muscle twitching and jerking when trying to relax and fall asleep, overwhelming sense of doom, dread, terror, and horror, insomnia, hoping to stabilize.Tried doing a 10% cut off Fluanxol in the end of May for a few days, but quickly updosed to full dose because the twitching returned.Experiencing waves and windows in the following months.Unsuccessful brief taper attempt of Fluanxol by 5% on November 1st. Symptoms hit the next day. Too scared to continue tapering, reinstate full dose.Severe crash in November after stupidly trying a barbiturate on November 9th. Grave mistake. Sense of unshakable inescapable internal torture, like my soul is in hell being tortured, terror/horror/dread/doom (probably akathisia?) that gets especially bad when trying to relax and fall asleep, muscles twitch, jerk and move on their own, shaking, insomnia, can't eat, confusion, disorientation, brain not working normally. Never felt so bad in my entire life. Never experiment with other meds while in WD! Praying to God I stabilize and get back to my baseline.December - things getting even worse. January - unbearable suffering Link to comment
