The Red Book has been described as Jung’s creative response to the threat of madness, yet it has also been seen as a deliberate exercise in self-analysis. I believe it’s likely both. When creating The Red Book, Jung knew he was on the verge of madness, and he also knew his analytical skills and expertise as a psychiatrist were his best chance at alleviating suffering, if not creating the conditions for transformation.

In many regards, The Red Book reads like a healing journey — a phrase often used to describe the reclaiming of self after a history of abuse — which is a transformative period that happens for many people committed to overcoming early life trauma. On the way to an authentic self there is first the need to step away from the person one became to survive abuse. Those confronted with this journey often experience a period of ‘going crazy’ on their way to establishing an authentic sense of self. ... (read the rest here: http://wp.me/p5nnb-9Sb )

GiaK there is a group on FB called "So many books, so little time"  how true this is.  I want to read every book out there on moving forward in emotional healing.

Just read Montel Williams Book "Emotional Well Being - A Journey"  It is about his battle with depression.  He was put on a med.  He did not mention the name but said it wasn't Prozac.  Was not good for him.  Flushed it down the toilet and called the doctor.

Doctor said "not good"  you need to taper so he did.  Would not take medicine again.  So he works along spiritual, physical, nutritional lines to abate depression from MS.

Very good book.  Always liked him.....

Wow. This certainly hits home:

I have no idea who I really am or who I was most of my life, in the midst of the trauma-filled farmily. Now that I see the patterns and sickness, I feel like a different person - "the bad guy" - and feel tortured in lonliness and paranoia.
