I have found Kelly to be quite a good MD...

Kelly Brogan MD, a Mad in America blogger, is offering a webinar at Green Med Info that promises to be a wonderful and pragmatic introduction to many of the ideas I present on this blog by a psychiatrist who gets it. Nutritional approaches to healing body/mind/spirit is one very important aspect of total well-being.

I finally listened to her podcast with Dr. Breggin and was very impressed. Anyone who says they have always had a problem with authority has instant credibility with me.

Part 1 was worthwhile, you can still register for Part 2 (although not cheap). On drug tapering....if you can build up your resilience first through diet, etc, it will be much easier. I wish she could be cloned! She does not start antidepressants AT ALL...but if a patient is already on one, she let's them decide what they want to do.

1st round Prozac 1989/90, clear depression symptoms. 2nd round Prozac started 1999 when admitted to dr. I was tired. Prozac pooped out, switch to Cymbalta 3/2006. Diagnosed with bipolar disorder due to mania 6/2006--then I was taken abruptly off Cymbalta and didn't know I had SSRI withdrawal. Lots of meds for my intractable "bipolar" symptoms.

Zyprexa started about 9/06, mostly 5mg. Tapered 4/12 through12/29/12

Wellbutrin. XL 300 mg started 1/07, tapered 1/18/13 through 7/8/13

Oxazepam mostly continuously since 6/06, 30mg since 12/12, tapered 1.17.14 through 8.26.15

11/06 Lithium 600mg twice daily, 2.2.14 400mg TID DIY liquid, 2.12.14 1150mg, 3.2.14 1100mg, 3.18.14 1075mg, 4/14 updose to 1100mg, 6.1.14 900 mg capsules 7.8.14 810mg, 8.17.14 725mg, 8.24.24 700mg...10.22.14 487.5mg, 3.9.15 475mg, 4.1.15 462.5mg 4.21.15 450mg 8.11.15 375mg, 11.28.15 362.5mg, back to 375mg four days later, 3.4.16 updose to 475 (too much going on to risk trouble)

9/4/13 Toprol-XL 25mg daily for sudden hypertension, tapered 11.12.13 through 5.3.14, last 10 days or so switched to atenolol

7.4.14 Started Walsh Protocol

Wow, she does sound like one a of a kind.  I always wonder if someone like her is too good to be true but she sounds like she definitely is. :)

Darn, now I am thinking how my life would have been different if someone like her had been my psychiatrist.  I know, not productive but I can't help it.

A friend of mine told me that she has been using a full spectrum mineral and amino acid supplement and she felt positive effects from it.  I think it is called Morning star 76 or something like that.

I suppose lots of us are mineral deficient.....my brother swears by the mineral supplement he uses.

minerals are actually the only supplements I still tolerate and they seem to be helping me a lot.

GiaK, is there a mineral supplement you've used and liked? Or do you take them individually? I recently started using pink Himalayan salt in a tonic before bed. That helped though I'm not sure how often I should use it. (I'm planning to do some research to try and figure that out.)

Have you heard of others using pink Himalayan salt as a mineral supplement during withdrawal?

After being on (over 25) psychiatric meds continuously during a 16 year period, I began in July 2014 to taper off 1mg Klonopin. In September 2014, I came off Brintellix, Trazadone, Zoloft, Proprityline & Hydroxyzine in 2 weeks on my own without knowledge on how to taper properly. I've been off all psych "meds" since 10/2014 and am currently experiencing protracted withdrawal.

Medication history: Vibryd, Wellbutrin, Lithium, Prozac, Xanax, Celexa, Cymbalta, Trileptal, Lamictal, Abilify, Zoloft, Trazadone, Citalopram, Effexor, Seroquel, Klonopin, Paxil, Brintellix, Protriptyline, Lexapro, Pristiq, Buspar, Clonidine, Lorazepam, Notriptyline, Hydroxyzine, Serzone.

We use it as the salt in our family. It just has this bountiful feeling that I love. "Regular" salt has been chemically treated and has additives...how weird is that.
