Hi Hopefull. Nice going for getting down so low.

Did you notice a big difference switching to the Soltab? I wonder if the regular Mirt tab will dissolve sufficiently in water.

Keep up the good work. You will be done soon.

Marie

Hi Marie,

Thank you for your encouraging words.

I really appreciate it.

I personally found SolTab to be much better for me,  then dissolving a regular Mirt tablet.  I have tried dissolving a regular Mirt tablet, and it doesn't disolve propley.

I personally find it much easier this way.

Are you coming off Mitrazapine too?

DRUG HISTORY:

November 2013- Zoloft, ( Bad reaction).

January 2014 - March 2014 Seroquel.( Quit Cold Turkey).

January2014- Mirtazapine, I was taking 15mg at one stage, reduced to 7.5mg, Pgad reactions to Mirtazapine. Doctor kept increasing it to 37.5mg, until July 2014. No improvement, experiencing panic attacks, on 37.5 mg. I had enough by October 2014. Began tapering.

October 2014- Started tapering Mirtazapine from 37.5mg.

September 2015- Down to 4mg of Mirtazapine. Crashed.

September 16th- Up dosed to 5mg. Held this dose for almost 5 months. Stabilised.

February 2016- Began tapering again. From 5mg to 4.5mg of Mirtazapine. (Rocking the boat, again)! Lol. :(

I haven't started the Mirt taper yet. I am taking 7.5 mg.

I'm at the tail end of my Trazodone taper, and I am down to .25 mg. Trazodone has some similarities to Mirt. It also has more s/e's I find. Trazodone balanced the Mirt so I did not gain weight, but once I lowered Traz significantly, the Mirt weight gain happened. That's the only positive thing I can say about Traz.

I'm finishing out the last bits of Traz. I have to go slow or I get significant w/d. My tinnitus is having some spikes too, so I must be careful. I will start Mirt taper in the new year.

Have you noticed any tinnitus during your Mirt taper? I know my tinnitus increased when I first started Mirt, but I needed sleep desperately.

Good luck.

Marie

Hi Marie,

Congratulations on getting down to 0.25mg of Trazadone.

I don't have tinnitus,  but more like a head hoise, when it is quite. I also experience ear fulness from time to time. Do you get this too?

It lasts for couple of seconds.

How do you cope with tinnitus? Do you listen to the misic before bed time?

I have gained weight from Mitrazapine too. That is why I can't wait to get off this crap.

Good luck with Mitrazapine taper.

Tappering is not easy and it tests your patience,  but you get there in the end.

Take care,  Hopefull. :)

Hi Hopefull. I sleep with the television on low on a timer. I'm used to the tinnitus. That is why on went on sleep meds. I was getting zero sleep! By the way, head noise when it's quiet is very low tinnitus. Maybe when you are off Mirt it will go away. Yes I do get the ear fullness. These drugs mess with your ears. Take care.

Hi Marie,

Maybe it is. I just hear  head noise at night, but my ears are not ringing.

I have read that some people get head noise, when coming off these drugs.

Hopefully it will go away when I get off Mitrazapine.

Take care, Hopefull.

Hi Hopefull:

Thank you, thank you for your response to how you are tapering.

I have tried crushing the regular 15 mg. mirt tablet before adding the suspension liquid, but I think both the crushing and the suspension liquid may affect the strength of dosage.  ...at this point, just my personal guess.

When I start the taper again, I will switch to the Soltab as my doctor has already she would give me an RX for this.  Since I am only on 3.75 mg. (1/4 of a 15 mg. tablet), I thought I would try adding the 3.75 mg. to 3.75 ml water and drink the whole dose; do this for a full 6 weeks to ensure my body will adapt to the changeup in tablets.  I like the idea of not having to crush the tablet but let the tablet dissolve on its own in the water before drinking.

You may be our in-house pro with tapering off Mirt!!  I've ready so many different ways to taper that it can spin one's head completely around!!

I just want to remain functional and not out of commission while I taper, as I'm sure you did too.  On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your taper thus far?  ...with 10 being the most difficult...

Thanks for your assistance!!  It is not easy finding another remeron taperer succeeding!!

Best regards,

Shebon

Started 3.75 mg. remeron 4/2013.  Had tapered off benzo 4/2011.  Had tapered down to 1.87 mg remeron but mistakenly thought I was in bad withdrawals, when it was Synthroid again.  Stopped  Synthroid 3/31/3021-side effects are the same as hyperthyroid symptoms, but doctors have no knowledge of this side effect.  Started taper end of 7/2021, now at 3.48 mg. daily.

Hi Shebon,

You are most welcome.

You really made me laugh with your "in-house-pro", comment!  Lol! :)

It is good that you have a good sense of humor.

It is good that your doctor has agreed to prescribe, SolTab, as it makes the whole tappering process easier. I don't see any harm in quartering the tablet and dissolving it in the equal amount of water.

Stick to SolTab taper and you will be fine.

I would rate the first 3 years of tappering 10, being the most difficult,  and the last 1 1/2 years at around 5, 6,7. It is hard to rate it. I  don't get as terrible waves as before,  but I still get it every now and then.  To be honest,  I still worry about getting completely off Mitrazapine. What happens when you get off? I am hoping for the best.

How are you doing so far? How are you coping with everything?

All the best with your tapper.

Take it easy and you will get there in the end. It is better to be functional then a basket case.

Take care,  Hopefull. :)

Hi Hopefull:

From your history, you tapered off quite a dosage -- 37.5 mg. to 4 mg. in 11 months time.  Were you able to work in the early stages of your taper?  You are one mirt warrior!!

You were very wise to slow it down when you resumed again in Feb. 2016.  You wouldn't think it would take long to get off the last 5 mg. but symptoms that come on and life stuff really discourage the desire to get off quickly.  I had tried many other times by cutting the dose to 1/2 (1/8 of 15 mg.) but would always updose due to symptoms.

You have come a long way in your journey....did you have to switch over to the dissolvable Soltab from the generic remeron?  The generic rem is what I have been on for 5 years now.

I am gearing up for another "go" at it...I so appreciate your responses and your willingness to conquer the mirt beast!!  I went through a benzo taper 7 years ago and never wanted to repeat that, but I want to get off this stuff for good!

How is life for you now on the low, low micro dose?  Able to engage in all the stuff you plan?  I think the critical time after no mirt is the 2-3 month range.  If you get past that, it will be clear skies ahead!

Go Hopefull!!  Be free!!

Thanks,

Shebon

Hi Shebon,

I honestly don't know how long it took to get from 37.5mg to 4 mg.

I have to look at the notes. I started tappering in October 2014. I did tapper a bit fast at the beginning.  I used to quarter the tablets, then later on I started using SolTab.

But I have also had at least 3 lots of 5 month hold in the process.  So that is at least over a year hold in between tappering. I also used to drop by 1mg, and boy did that backfire. I  found that I tolerated 0.5 mg drops well and that is what I have been doing since. I think I only had one updose episode and that is it.

I have not been able to work since end of 2013, due to Zoloft reaction and getting off Mitrazapine was hell too.

I am doing pretty well on low dose Mirt at the moment. ( Touch wood). Lol! :)

I am not sleeping as well lately,  but it is manigable, and my stomach is playing up a bit.

But overall all, better than I was almost 5 years ago. I can't believe that it will be 5 years in 3 months since Zoloft reaction.

How are you doing with your tapper?

,How are you feeling?

I really hope that I am going to be okay,  when I finally get off Mitrazapine.

I know that I have done all that I can to get off this drug. I can only hope for the clear sky in the future.

Thank you for supporting me Shebon. You will see blue skies too. :)

Take care,  Hopefull.

In regards to generic Remeron, I have tried it, but I never tolerated it well.

It would give me horrible pressure headaches.  I stick with the original Rameron and I don't change.

Hi Hopefull:

Sounds like you have been through the AD wringer!  If we'd only known what we were getting into before swallowing that pill.  No one mentions that this would be difficult to get off.

I am glad to hear you are steady going and holding when needed is a good thing...last night I read through Dalsaan's taper off remeron.   She had to hold for periods of time too but she was able to work and do some comedy on the side.

I have to gear myself up for this stuff as I have so much I want to do every day.  And, as you know, rem WD can give you little sleep and lots of fatigue.  But I want to get to the other side and be off sooooo bad!!

I have a conference and a weekend trip in August coming up, so I will do the switch over to Soltab and begin the water titration method in September.  As I mentioned to you, I will dump a 1/4 of a 15 mg. tablet in 3.75 ml. of water, let it dissolve, and drink the whole thing.  I will do this for a full 6 weeks to ensure the switchover will work.

You are getting so very close...I think Dalsaan jumped off at .5 mg. but I would go down to .25 mg., like you are doing.

Wishing you a safe and happy jump off the mirt machine.. You have done so well!!

Thank you Shebon,

You are really sweet. Unfortunately for us all, the doctors don't have a clue what they are getting their patients into, once they prescribe those nasty pills.

It is good that you are working.

I would love to return to work.

I am hoping that I can work again,  next year,  once I jump off Mitrazapine, and see how I feel.

If you tapper carefully,  you will be fine.

Take it easy, don't stress yourself over it.

When you are ready,  you will strart the tappering process.

I am soooo tampeted too, to just stop and I can't wait to get off.

But then, I have to remind my self that I am almost there.

I am thinking of stopping once I half the 0.125mg dose, in 2-3 months time.

Counting down the days.

I hope I start de-puffing , (Lol),  :)

once I get off.

I have been literally metamorphisised

into a puffy fish! ,Lol! :)

Hi Hopeful,

I was so glad to read how low you’ve gone with your dose now. Good for you!

I see you also discard the rest of the water when you do the titration. I do the same thing. I dissolve a 25mg tablet but only use 6.5mg of it n throw the rest away and start afresh the next day.

Hope all goes well with the rest of your taper.

Sending hugs🤗

I would appreciate it if one of the moderators can help me to determine, when would be the best time to jump off Mitrazapine?

My next cut would be in September, currently takinh 0.125mg. Next cut will be 0.065mg.

My question is,  when I cut to 0.065mg, do I take that dose for the next 2 months and then stop, or do I just stop when, I get to 0.065mg?

At what point do I just stop?

Thank you.

Hi Carmie,

Sending hugs your way as well.

I have decided to make a drop in September  to 0.065 and hold for 2-3 months and then stop.

By December I should be off.

I feel that I have done all I can to safety get off Mitrazapine.

In October it will be 4 years of tappering, so by the time I stop,  it will be 4 years and 2 months.

I was on Mitrazapine for 6 months,  but because I am extremely sensetive, I decided to get off it slowly.

I feel it is time for me to move on with my life and put this chapter behind me.

How are you doing Carmie?

Thank you for stopping by my thread.

Take care,  Hopefull. :)

Hi Hopefull. Sounds like you have a good plan. I will be done with my trazodone taper around the same time.

I don't know if you've mentioned in your posts if you had insomnia during your mirt taper.

I'm getting some insomnia from the Trazodone taper. I'm guessing insomnia comes with the mirt taper too?

You're almost there. Good luck.

Hi Marie,

I did experience insomnia at the beginning when I had a bad reaction from Zoloft, for 6 weeks.

I have had a bit of insomnia coming off Mitrazapine,  but that also could be due to extreme anxiety I felt coming off Mitrazapine.

I can't say that insomnia has been my main issue, but I have experienced it, from time to time.  Especially at the end of 2013 beginning of 2014, and I had one month episode of insomnia in  2015, when coming off Mitrazapine gave me really bad anxiety.

If you can meditate, it can help calm down your mind. But be warned that some people find meditation triggering when going through WDS.

I did mindfulness meditation back in 2015 for 2 months to help me get through a rough patch.

Congratulations on your tapper and hopefully we will soon be free.

Good luck with it. December is only 4 months away.

:)

Hi Hopefull:

A big congrats -- you are almost to the finish line!!  Your taper must have seemed arduous and scary, but you managed it and you will be free of this drug!

I will start mine next week.  Crossing over from generic remeron tablet to SolTab in water...I hope to stay the course.

Peace and prosperity coming your way!

Shebon:wub::D

Started taper end of 7/2021, now at 3.48 mg. daily.

Hi Hopeful,

Yes it’s certainly encouraging to have people on here who understand n support one another. People who haven’t gone through this process have absolutely no idea how horrific withdrawals can be. They probably thing taking antidepressants is no different to taking aspirin.

Hi Hopeful,

Thanks for popping around to my thread the other day.

Just checking in to see how you’re doing. So u will be tapering again by a teeny amount this month? How are u doing it? Are u using water titration or digital scales? I’m a bit too brain foggy to read a lot of your thread at the moment.

I’ve just changed from titrating  my tablets to titrating a capsule n withdrawals have hit me, though I’m still at the same dose, 7.5mg. Ah, the world of withdrawals.

Wishing u a happy day☀️☀️☀️

I’ve just changed from titrating  my tablets to titrating a capsule n withdrawals have hit me, though I’m still at the same dose, 7.5mg. Ah, the world of withdrawals.

Wishing u a happy day☀️☀️☀️

Hi Carmie,

Thank you for stopping by my thread too.

I am ok, for the most part, but experiencing a bit of anxiety at the moment.

Last night I felt I was going to jump out of my skin, and it is because I was triggered by the stupid water heater noise.

The sound was  really high pitched and I when it finally stopped 2 and a bit hours later,I was fantom hearing it when I woke up around 2:30am. The sound was stuck in a loop in my brain and it was giving me bad anxiety.  Has this happened to you?

I keep thinking ,when is my brain going to return completely back to normal or if this is as normal as it will ever get?

When I am good,  I feel good, but as soon as I get triggered by things I feel really bad anxiety .

I was never like this before drugs.

My anxiety was more constant worry thoughts and sometimes panic.

But now, I am  easily triggered by things and it is a sign that my brain is still not back to normal.I still need to hold the current dose.

I'm dissolving 15mg tablet into 60mls of water and drawring  0.5mls.

WDS is hard, but hang in there.

I just want to experience feeling "normal" again,  without stupid triggers.

It was a beautiful, sunny ,spring day today,, so that helped a bit.

You have a good day too and take care.  :)

Hi Hopefull,

Im glad you’re doing okay for the most part. Yes, our nervous systems certainly are out of whack, that loud noise must have made you jumpy. Wow, the noise went on for two n a half hours. I bet you were glad when it stopped. Weird though how you kept hearing it anyway. No, this has happened to me but because our nervous systems are so haywire I can see why it can happen. I think the closest I can relate to this is when I can’t get a song out of my head, my brain just automatically plays it over n over again.

Yes, our brains are high alert n are easily triggered, I got triggered the other night n went into a bit of a panic when I had severe akathisia that made me want to move nonstop. It triggered really bad memories. It settled quickly though, phew! I still get akathisia in waves but it’s not usually the kind where I have to pace so when that happened the other night my brain went ahhhh!

All the best with your water titration. I was titrating a 25mg tablet but now I’ve got a 7.5mg capsule n will titrate that soon. Changing over from tablet to capsule caused withdrawals so I’m waiting to stabilise before I taper again. I’ll be putting it in 20ml of water. I’ve already got my calculations for the first month. I’m doing a microtaper according to the brassmonkey slide. I’ll be doing 1.25% a week for four weeks n then holding another weeks.

Sending hugs🤗

Hi Hopetobefree,

Thank you so much for stopping by. Your support means a lot to me.

That is exactly what has been going on for me for the last 2 days. Last night my anxiety was through the roof and I felt like jumping out of my skin.

It was really hard to calm my self down, since I could faintly hear the sound, stuck in my head.

The water heater is still making that high putched sound,  for couple of hours in the evening.  I am waiting for it to be fixed. I know that I am easily triggered at the moment because of the drop I made 6 to 7 weeks ago. It means that I have to hold longer.

It makes me feel better that I am not alone in this.

I am really hoping that this will come to an end soon.

This drug induced triggers are hard to cope with at times.

You would think that getting to such a low amount would make things easier,  but I still experience rough patches from time to time.

It is at this time that I deeply regret taking AD's in the first place,  because my anxiety prior to AD's was picnic in the park. I wish I could take everything back. There is always that underlying fear that my brain has been  permenantly altered, and this will be as good as it gets.

I have enqiured about oxygen therapy again.  My brain needs help to take me to the finish line.

I am hoping for a miracle.

Thank you Hopetobefree for your support.

How are you doing?

Hi Carmie,

How are you coping with the akatisia? Thank God, you didn't have to pace.

All the symptoms from these terrible drugs are dreadful.

It really tests your inner strength and coping strategies.

That is my problem too. Being triggered and then the bad memories flood through, when I was at my worst.

I get this horrible anxiety, like I am about to jump out the my skin.

The water heater is still making  a loud high pitched sound in the evening.

I dred it, because I can fantom hear it later in my head.

I have experienced songs being stuck in my head, at the beginning.

I remember when that song came out 2014, Cause I am happy, by Will Farell or something like that, I could not get that song out of my head.

It was driving me absolutely nuts.  I hate that song now, it reminds me of a really horrible time in my life.

I have personally found water titration to be easier then measuring and cutting pills. I did the later at the beginning.

It is a wise move to wait to stabilize before switching to water titration.

You will be micro tappering and it should reduce WDS symptoms and make them more manageable.

I am even thinking about holding until December and then cutting down again.

I know that it means that I might not get off Mitrazapine until next year. But that is okay with me. Better to get off well,  then to rush. My brain is so sensitive, I have to be careful.

Take care,  Hopefull.

Hi Hopefull,

How are u doing today? The akathisia hasn’t been too bad, which is a relief. I’m in a window today, though I’ve been in windows n waves that happen All throughout the day most days recently .

Im really sorry that the water heater is still causing you such anxiety still. Is it broken? Is there something you can do about it?

It’s a good idea to hold until December if you have to. You are doing well if you’re off your meds by next year. Please go slow though and don’t rush, it’s not worth it, you’ll end up in a big wave. It’s going to take me at least ten years doing the brassmonkey slide but I can’t go quick because the akathisia gets too bad. We will see if I can modify anything along the way. But for now when I start to taper I’ll do it extremely carefully. Still waiting to stabilize though.

Wishing you all the best💚
