Yes, many of us have experienced that very problem with sleep. Please read the topics in the Symptoms and Self-care forum.

It does get better -- you've experienced this yourself.[/quot

Thank :-) you last night was another hard night but there was a difference. Wave after wave of sleep jerks I started to panic that I wasn't going to sleep and I felt I had to take something to sleep but I kept remembering what ever one has told me on here. And I resisted taking any thing even though it was very difficult I would just lay there and try to rest and relax and just gave into the fact I wasn't going to sleep and then I found my self waking up from dreaming. I have no idea how long I had slept but I felt great that I hadn't given into my fear and my body did let me sleep some I think it's a step in the right direction of taking control of my fear and not letting it control me

Thanks bubble :-) I'm glad my experience and words could help you. Last night went to bed at 9.30 had one leg jerk fell right to sleep easily woke up thought I must have only slept for an hr or so but it was 5.30am so about 8hr solid sleep it only seemed like 15minutes so I made it threw the hard night with out Xanax and the next night slept good I was tired. I am tired of this ride I know we will all get there. Nothing has been the same since I quit 20 mg lexapro cold August 2012. I think the meds have given me every thing they were supposed to cure. Never had any of the symptoms I have now pre meds. One thing that has been bothering me for the last few days is I have thees moments of clarity. I have been in the fog for a year and a half I'm not used to it. I will adjust at some point. I got out of the house yesterday and went to the shore. It was cold but nice to take in the sea air it has been unusually cold here this winter a lot of days below 0. We'll hope you are feeling well and thank you for your advice on things

It sounds like your nervous system is inching towards healing, lobster. Yay!

You might find it helpful to keep notes on paper about your symptom pattern, so you can see sometimes it's better.

Thank you for sharing this Lobster, this is very good, it demonstrates what many of us here try to explain.  If you resist the urge to take (more) medication for sleep, eventually sleep returns naturally and the cycle of needing medication for sleep is broken.

I was wondering if anyone else has had hallucination as a with drawl symptom? I went to bed last night and would wake up after just drifting off and in a haze I would see things. At one point my vision would be going back and forth very fast. I have been playing video games the last few days as its winter and there's not much to do maybe to much stimulation on my brain lol. I did manage to fall asleep after a while didint think I was going to after that

Too much video games! Please reduce the amount of time you spend doing that.

Consider doing things by candlelight in the evening.

I have had some strange wakings. Things from dreams carrying over in the waking state, mostly thoughts but some visuals. Maybe a few minutes. Did the hallucinations last long? Being sleep deprived can cause this i think. Altos advice is sound! Dreams will be to agitated if you are to wound up by games before bed and can cause even earlier stress awakening responses. Could you have had a "dream carry over"?

No they didnt last long a few seconds. I dont think I was dreaming I dont think I was a sleep long enough. I have had weird things like this happen since I was a teenager the first time was upon wakening and I saw what I thought was a spider on the wall. It always happens in the wakening or falling asleep. Its like I dont wake up fast enough but my eyes see things my brain cant comprehend. It never last but a few seconds. I also talk in my sleep. And have been known to look at some one that is talking and stare at them I never remember any of that. Its to bad the game's distract me but the last few days I guess to much. My things are always visual I have never heard any thing thank you :-)

Taking control of my sleeping problem has helped my anxiety quite a bit which in return has helped to calm my central nervous system last night was the first night I have been able to sleep back in my own room with my wife. Since Christmas feeling better knowing I dont have to take anything to sleep and that I will sleep eventually. I start the liquid lexapro 2.5 mg tomorrow I probably should stay at this dosage for a while longer before I start a 10% tapper? Thank you for your help ! I hope I can get the measurement right for the liquid lexapro

I will just share my experience with you. We are all so eager to drop. I soooo much wanted to drop. I had  disaster with Lexapro which I reinstated in October and have no plan to taper that yet since I have this other evil, Xanax.

a week ago I dropped my Xanax dose by 5 % and didn't expect to feel much but boy, was I wrong. I felt awful like after complete discontinuation. I thought I was ready to make such a small drop but now I wish I had waited a little longer and allowed my CNS to enjoy that fragile stability a little longer.

I think we can't really err on the side of caution and the slower seems to be the better. I think it would do you no harm to wait for at least another week or 2.

They advise us here to wait with further taper until after we have been stable for a month...

Im sorry you are having a hard time of it I hope you feel better soon. I dont want to go to fast I have already done that a bunch of times. I dont have a problem staying put for a while. Maybe the first of March if things stay stable.I started the liquid lexapro yesterday and my head feels funky today. I didnt think there was any difference between the pill form and liquid. Thank you for your advice :-)

thank you! after 2 horrible days, I felt very good most of the day today.

If you started with the liquid Lexapro I would definitely suggest you take a while to get used to it before dropping. 1 of March sounds like a very good date :)

When does the lobster catching start? ;) I think spending more time outdoors would also be helpful (if only I could do it :)

I read somewhere that when we dissolve meds, they act sooner, transfer the body / brain barrier faster (or something like that) so a small adjustment is needed.

I will also follow your course one day when I start tapering Lexapro... in the far future

Im glad you are doing better! I hope it continues. My fishing season starts around April and stops around Christmas. I do agree that being out side helps I try and get outside every day if I can.I do hope the liquid makes it easyer to taper off the remaining 2.5 mg. Its hard to look at the 2.5 ml and compare it to a 2.5 mg pill the liquid is a lot more volume I guess it must be the solution that makes it look like its more :-)

You can have the snow im ready for spring. Its been a long winter more snow than I have seen in along time and colder temperatures. Time to get the four wheeler out and go riding. I have the ringing in the ears to. My left ear seems worse. Its not bad if there is noise around me but if its quiet then I tend to focus on that. Thats why I have a fan on at night I would rather listen to that then the ringing lol. Im glad your doing ok and hanging in there.

Oh lobster, I envy you working outdoors while I'm stuck at my desk in the office day in day out...

I'm happy things are improving steadily and that this time we know how to deal with these poisons so they cause us less harm and we can get rid of them...

I had some emotional upheavals and people here helped me a lot. The struggle continues. I go slow. Just made one 5 % cut a month ago but it made me very happy.

Get some fresh air for me too and hope the snow melts soon :)

Hi bubble im glad you were able to do a 5% cut and you are headed in the right direction. Im sorry you are stuck at a desk all day. I couldn't handle that my office window is out side I love all the scenery and the animals I get to see each day. I am lucky that way :-) I will get plenty of fresh air for both of us. My head has been really funky lately I hope it subsides soon. Best wishes and keep me up dated with your progress.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. Your story sounds very similar to mine. I am glad you are able to work. I lost my RN position because of the night mirror of a med reaction. Dr's still don't really believe me and have even suggested I'm bipolar. Makes you feel very defeated and like there is no way out. I'm here to talk if you would like

Thank you it has been a rough road so far. It was suggested at one point that I might be bipolar to. My only defense was well I managed to live 30 years with out any problems and most all of my problems started after a cold quit of lexapro which was prescribed because of sleep related anxiety caused by extream greaf. The drs dont understand and finaly gave up now they just ask me what I want to do and they say they have never seen anyone so sensitive to meds. Its hard because this whole situation has caused psychological issues on top of with drawls. I belive in the end we will all get there. The only way I can keep working is I am my own boss and can some what work around how I am feeling. But its not easy. My job is very physical and I notice when I work to hard I end up to stimulated and have a hard time sleeping.I am at the one month mark now on liquid lexapro 2.5 mg and I am not feeling that great constant dizziness ringing in my ears fear from what I dont know. Just not feeling physically well. I think its from adjusting to the liquid I hope. Im tired of not feeling good but I can remember how I once was and keep clinging to the hope I will fell like that some day again. I am sorry you lost your job as an RN its hard to loose something that you enjoy doing. I do understand and at times I feel like im going crazy to but I am convinced its the meds and in time our body's will heal its self after all thats what we do as humans :-) Im here if you need to talk as well take care

I was wondering if any one has had a bad reaction to switching to liquid lexapro? I have been taking it for a month and things have been taking a turn for the worse bad anxiety my sleeping has been getting worse I have been realy tired physically falling a sleep at 7.30 or 8 waking up threw the night but falling back a sleep soon after. Yesterday was horrible anxiety im ashamed to say I toox xanax to sleep last night even though I told my self I wouldnt. Every time I started to sleep I would wake up with the feeling that I was really diying. It was the worst I have felt. I just dont know what to do I ended up taking 2 mg. I started at a half but it did nothing. I told my self I would not take it a gain and in a moment of weakness I did .I haventn taken any thing for sleep in over a month I am feeling very scared and desperate im not sure this will ever end.
