I can't find the list of drugs to avoid, I know there's a different thread around about this, so I am putting this here...btdt you will know this...

It seems Tramadol (pain killer) is an SRI (serotonin re-uptake inhibitor.)

Found this here, on site about serotonin toxicity (the author in this quote is discussing drugs that can cause ST):

http://www.psychotropical.com/index.php/1-introduction-to-st

'' ...other drugs marketed for different indications which in fact also act as SRIs (e.g. the pain killer tramadol)..."

Long term side effects of Isotretinoin (Accutane, Roacutane)

Hello fellow survivors!

I know that its a site about surviving antidepressants withdrawals, but I think Isotretinoin could be somehow classified as AD. It gives you clear skin, so when you're depressed theoreticaly its supposed to make you feel better. But just like AD it gives you nasty side effects and withdrawal. In my case isotretinoin triggered depression and severe anxiety along with damaging my body. I was wondering if there is anyone on this great forum who suffers from similiar problems? Would really appreciate any feedback, have a lovely day!

welcome!

i was prescribed isotretinoin (in the mids 00s, like you) but did research into it and told them i didnt think itd be a good idea because i already had psychiatric diagnoses of mental illness.  they agreed, though they tried to push it on me and acted dismissive of the reports of increased depression and suicidal intent.  so, i have not personally experienced this problem, but i read about the serious consequences others have faced from taking it, and have a few friends that tried it earlier in life and experienced some pretty terrible side effects, both psychological and physical.

you seem to have been through a ton of crap from all these meds, including some i have myself taken.  i hope you can find some support and relief from the people on here.  i would investigate the dietary changes, supplements, and behavioral changes that many members have found to be helpful in aiding their tapering and withdrawing---listed in specific forums and threads here.  thats a lot of suffering, in your sig, and there has got to be a way to reduce it at least a little bit through such means.  (just take proper precautions and do the research you feel capable of to avoid unpleasant reactions/interactions!)

Hey Invisible! Thanks for replying :) You know my biggest tragedy is that I remember that I wasn't myself after taking isotretinoin and had some really serious issues, but now I would give everything to just go back to this state... The state Im in right is testing my sanity and many times I felt that Im insane. But I dont really want to die, just cant live like that. I still believe that theres hope, but its so damn hard to survive each day. If you want to talk about anything or some of your friends who took isotretinoin want to share experiences, feel free to drop me a line. Peace and love :)

Hey akakoom,

Altough its not my main thread, thanks for stopping by. Yes, I took Accutane at the age of 15 and that was the worst decision of my life. It gave me severe anxiety and depression and changed my personality, but I was still somehow functional. What finished me off were AD's, I took my first pill of poison when I was 18. I wonder how my life would look like if I never touch antidepressants. Compared to the state I'm in now, its heaven and hell. Yeah, I took a lot of meds and I did it in a really irresponsible way. For now I'm more then 2 months off everything and nothing really changed. I suffer from severe PSSD which looks impossible to improve (penile atrophy and tissue changes) and PGAD which drives me insane. To add a cherry on top I'm in constant DP/DR, everything is so unreal, I have brain fog which makes me unable to focus on anything, suicidal thoughts and insomnia. Altough its really bad I try to find some positives, like sometimes I can get some sleep and have some nice dreams. Im 23 now and my life is totally ruined, lost most of my friends, a great girlfriend and my family hates me. Sometimes I manage to work, mostly physically but I feel like my life is over. I would be dead long time ago if not a fact that I'm too much of a coward to do it. Do I believe that a life can be worth living some day? Not really. But I have no other option than just hang on and get through each and every day hoping that some day it will get better. Hope you're doing better man, take care!

Thanks for the sympathy Love. I think we're all strong going through our suffering. Sometimes I feel so strong, because I'm still here, but its hard to feel strong when you feel so weak all the time. If you know what I mean xp

Hi everyone,

It sounds like I've been put into a lot of troubles by an PPI (pantoprazole) or by other non psychiatric drugs that are referred as known for giving psychiatric symptoms.

Here's my "story".

At Christmas 2015 I suffered from a very bad sinusitis with high fever and so on. My GP put me on amoxicillin 1500 mg/day for 8 days. I recovered but start feeling very apathic. However my sinusitis was cured, antibiotics has a bit disturbed my stomach and I had 2 days reflux the last 2 days of the treatment, which resolved a few days after that by suppressing coffee.

January 2016 : sinus ache again. It sounded that I had sinus inflammed. My GP put me on ibuprofen and pantoprazole as a prophylactic treatment. Then a deluge of symptoms knocked me down. I did not know what the hell was happening to me.

7 day after first pill : constant headache, unexplained fatigue, total loss of appetite, heart flutters

2nd week on med : confusion, trouble with staying focus at work, memory loss (already present since my effexor withdrawal but made much much worse !), malaise after every meal : tachycardia, breathing problems (I thought I had asthma), irregular heartbeat, stomach pain

3d week on med : add to the list, extreme weakness, fever, severe diarrhea, tons of gas, bloating, burping even after drinking a glass of water, chest pain, vertigo, terrible anxiety which turned into panic attacks, spasms in mucles, joint pain, back pain... I rushed several time to the ER cause I thought I was having a heart attack..Start crying about nothing, not understanding what was happening to me, start thinking I might have a life threatning disease...

All test came back normal except :

- huge amount of gaz in stomach and bowels seen on X-ray

- Dehydrated

- Blood test : Increased IgE and granulocytes, increased liver enzymes, increase CRP, magnesium normal but close to lower level limit, increased LDL

- Urine test : hemoglobin ++, protein ++, ketones + but no trace of urinary tract infection

- gastroscopy : light gastritis and gastroparesis

- fever for 10 days but no infections has been detected (no virus, no bacteria...)

The doctors did not believed me when I said everything has started with pantoprazole... they just told me I'm depressed and have anxiety issue and have to take my antidepressant again. I told them many others have had paradoxal reaction to PPI with same symptoms and I was answered I'm hypocondriac and must not believe what I found on the internet... I was very angry !

I stopped the PPI and had rebound of acidity but it now gets better. The anxiety issues and panic attack lasted for 4 more weeks. I lost 10 pounds in 1 month. Now I an eat normally again. But still feel depressed, with little energy, occasionnal headache and tinnitus, still have heart flutters and gas but to a lesser extend. I avoid lactose, gluten and take Mg/vit B6

I still don't  know what happened to me. I'm wondering if all that was caused by this f*** PPI or if that 's a independent window-waves episode occuring 8 monthes after being off Effexor.... maybe it's both : PPI could have triggered it ? Heart, digestion, body temperature controll... maybe an autonomous dysfunction ? I just can read some patients with no history of psy med and depression or anxiety could have similar issues with PPI at similar dosage and equivalent or even shorter treatment duration... they said nothing about how long it took to recover except one who emailed me that 3 monthes were necessary to fully recover...

Doctors did not understand : my GP said it's depression. My psychiatrist said he doesn't understand but some elements points toward depression however the rest is weird. He suggested put me back on Effexor :( and see what happens.

Not funny having a body full of distressing signals when you are not able to understand their meaning. Just don't help with anxiety

Hope I'll soon get better and be able to work again. Next week I'll have an appointment with a nutritionist doctor to help me with a healthier diet in order to help my GI tract recovering and check for putative food allergies.

To moderators : Sorry if I don't post at the right place. Maybe you could move my post to a more appropriate section if you like ?

Yes I discovered the side effect by searching first on "Askapatient.com" then went on the FDA website. But my doctor don't believe in it...

Now I know I'm not alone and completely crazy...

The GI doctor told me to take magnesium and vit B12 at first but I had headache with it. Then I've been given B6/magnesium.. He said it helps anxiety and depression... Well maybe it won't help then...argh !

Pepcid (Motrin tab coating) seemed to reignite my SSRI receptors. Thus a nice little kindling since. I'd torn a ligament in my knee back in October of 2015. I didn't want any morphine derivatives to include tapering off of and asked for Motrin. The Doc suggested these free samples she'd gotten from a pharma rep. She didn't want me developing any blood/bleeding problems. Well I didn't. Instead I developed some W/D problems. Ya can't win for losing.

It does not matter what a drug is suppose to do or not do what it ACTUALLY does to you is all that is important to you and if a doctors does not believe you it is time to find a new doctor... easily said I know doctors are hard to find where I live.

Maybe taking a look at this would be useful to you I can't quite sort myself out in the pages but maybe you can use it

I did not see one that said B6 makes you depressed go to a :)

Hi just wanted to join in on this conversation. After horrible akathisia for almost a year caused by ativan prozac and cymbalta I was fine for a whole year. Until I needed Augmentin and tramal for three months. My akathisia came back with a vengeance. Now I'm suffering again for three months. Was put on ativan and mianserin but I'm still very bad. No doc would believe me that I reacted to the antibiotic and the pain killer. But I know it was that because I was perfectly fine for almost 14 months.

Btdt - thank you listing this "Keppra Rage - anticonvulsant "aggression agitation anger anxiety apathy depersonalization depression emotional lability hositliy ect... Due to spellbinding patients do not report these effects tot he doctor...same with all these drugs"

I can attest that Keppra can definitely cause unwanted emotional side effects. Not to mention factoring in allowances for both the active and inactive ingredients in the generic versions.
