Seriouslyscared
Live in Newcatle upon Tyne. I note that there's a person here from Sunderland. Any others in the area? Leaving Tyne and Wear is going to be difficult for the foreseeable future. Dec 98; Paroxetine 20mg, quickly increased to 40mg for mild situational teenage depression which I didn't even go for. Spring 99; Paroxetine reduced back to 20mg over four weeks after mild depression passes. Autumn 99; Paroxetine reduced down to 14mg, slowly, as initial 10mg reduction was far too much. Start of 2000; Paroxetine increased back up to 40mg after a 'relapse' and the most severe depression imaginable. No life. Late 2012 to early 2013, Paroxetine reduced from a bit above 40mg (perhaps close to 50mg) back down to 40mg. October 2015; tapered off Paroxetine by 5ml/10mg every 2 weeks after finally had enough of years of constant instability. I never did 'get better' as the doctors said to wait for. Never had remotely normal adult life, cared for full time at family home. Start of August 2016; tried reinstituting Paroxetine at 1mg for 4 days, disaster; shopping list of physical symptoms develop. Also taken Proton Pump Inhibitors on and off since early 2003, continuously since 2013 for severe upper GI issues Took Cyclizine 50mg up to 3x daily since 2013 for crippling nausea from severe GI issues, stopped at start of August 2016. Propranolol 10mg on occasion since May 2016 for extreme stress/racing heart, stopped at start of September 2016 Omega 3, Magnesium, Zinc, stopped Vitamins B complex, C, D3, multivitamin, probiotic, garlic, digestive enzymes Link to post

The problem I've seen from others reporting is the cost. Some GPs will have one eye on their budgets. The liquid preps are expensive at £100-120 a 150ml bottle. My GP prescribed liquid venlafaxine for me with me even prompting him! That said, if there's any objections just make it clear that the NHS got you onto this drug so it has a moral obligation to help you get off it, whatever the cost! The British National Formulary shows it is available as oral drops 40mg per ml of liquid; see link here. https://bnf.nice.org.uk/medicinal-forms/citalopram.html I'm sure it would be possible for the NHS to get it made up at a lower concentration which is probably what you need. Good luck with your taper. Caspur 1 This is not medical advice. Discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical practitioner. Lets show them there's a lot of interest in what they are doing 🙌 Many thanks Caspur 2011 - started Venlafaxine (again) at 75mg Raised to 150 mg at some point - unsure of dates. Phoenix76
Hi, I'm in colchester, north Essex, and was wondering if anyone wanted to meet up for a coffee and a chat? I struggled to get clean of anti-depressants after taking Paxil for ten years. Coming off that drug the first time was one of the most awful experiences of my life (don't get me started on GPs). I finally got clean in 2012. Then I went back on them for a few months two years ago, but thankfully stopped. Now I'm struggling to help my mother get off Prozac. Ugghh, it never ends. Link to post

My GP also gives two months supply of meds, this may be helpful as you only have to pay one prescription charge, I understand. Then I suppose if you are taking small amounts of the meds you could buy fillable capsules from Amazon and make more doses as well. I am unsure about private prescription charges however. LivR
Hi, I live in Hertfordshire! It would be wonderful if people in this group could complete my survey on antidepressants and withdrawal. It's for a masters journalism project, which is looking at the difficulties people face when they come off antidepressants and the alternative treatments available to them, i.e. talking therapies, cognitive hypnotherapy etc. All results are anonymous and much appreciated! I’ve been quite unwell with a mix of health issues so this month is out . I called up MIND today.. asked about any support groups or chance of a future group . Reply : contact your gp or pharmacist!! Administrator Altostrata Posted May 24, 2019 Author Administrator Share Posted May 24, 2019 UK members -- Emergency! We need testimonials from UK people who have experienced antidepressant withdrawal syndrome. I need this immediately, to communicate to Royal College of Psychiatrists, who are revising their clinician guidelines for next week. It would be best if you had been taking only one antidepressant, no complicated polypharmacy, for a relatively straightforward case history. Please write up 2-3 paragraphs summarizing your drug history, how you tapered, and withdrawal symptoms. You may use a pseudonym, but include your e-mail, as RCPsych may wish to contact you for more information to write up your case. Please send it to me in a pm. Prince1924
Hi, I live in Edinburgh, bonny Scotland. Just wondering if any SA members are meeting up here? From 2000 onwards - Prozac 20mg daily.. Numerous attempts to come off have been disastrous - extreme anxiety, depression. (2005 - 2007 Tried Citalopram, 20mg. But switched back to Prozac.) 2007 - 20016 Prozac, 20mg. Feb 2016 - Feb 2017 Have reduced gradually from 20mg to13mg. Feb 2017 - Jan 2018, have reduced gradually from 13mg to 12mg. This is going very slowly because I reduced too quickly and had to go back up. Been a long journey but already I feel much more like me. Less brain fog... Link to post
