definitely made me laugh too.  :)

Even better, I became sensitive to everything, so have to use scent free natural deodorant, and I literally smell!!! The robe smells. I don't even care. I shower everyday, but I still smell.

I was thinking of rubbing the Christmas card under my armpit for ex-shrink so she could get the full effect.

Online dating, whew! I am a true success when I make it to McDonalds to sit in the parking lot for coffee cause can't handle the public right now. I also have taken to not wearing bras because they give me a rash. Oh! And haven't had a haircut since March of this last year. I have enough dead ends to make a broom. This is making me laugh!!! Lol haha.

I don't have a car any longer and can't make it anywhere for coffee but use to go to the beach man I miss having a car and getting out.

I had the rash under the boob area too for about 2 years. I used baking soda for underarms and switched to natural non scented shampoo the soap I tried for awhile but it dried me out too much so I went back to a different one.

A-DERMA not sure why but just now it is working so I will not mess with it pricey tho 30 - 40 a bottle.

WARNING THIS WILL BE LONG
Had a car accident in 85
Codeine was the pain med when I was release from hosp continuous use till 89
Given PROZAC by a specialist to help with nerve pain in my leg 89-90 not sure which year
Was not told a thing about it being a psych med thought it was a pain killer no info about psych side effects I went nuts had hallucinations. As I had a head injury and was diagnosed with a concussion in 85 I was sent to a head injury clinic in 1990 five years after the accident. I don't think they knew I had been on prozac I did not think it a big deal and never did finish the bottle of pills. I had tests of course lots of them. Was put into a pain clinic and given amitriptyline which stopped the withdrawal but had many side effects. But I could sleep something I had not done in a very long time the pain lessened. My mother got cancer in 94 they switched my meds to Zoloft to help deal with this pressure as I was her main care giver she died in 96. I stopped zoloft in 96 had withdrawal was put on paxil went nutty quit it ct put on resperidol quit it ct had withdrawal was put on Effexor... 2years later celexa was added 20mg then increased to 40mg huge personality change went wild. Did too fast taper off Celexa 05 as I felt unwell for a long time prior... quit Effexor 150mg ct 07 found ****** 8 months into withdrawal learned some things was banned from there in 08 have kept learning since. there is really not enough room here to put my history but I have a lot of opinions about a lot of things especially any of the drugs mentioned above.
One thing I would like to add here is this tidbit ALL OPIATES INCREASE SEROTONIN it is not a huge jump to being in chronic pain to being put on an ssri/snri and opiates will affect your antidepressants and your thinking.

As I do not update much I will put my quit date Nov. 17 2007 I quit Effexor cold turkey.

Well, I suppose Europe might be but psychiatrists are fallable human beings and the one I had bad experiences with appears to see himself as infallable and thats when things get problematic.

Effexor is my main challenge just as you say. I didnt become manic on it, maybe a bit when I've been withdrawing but what I experienced was incredible powerful apathy... Just not caring about anything and having no emotions and no energy, I had to take atleast 200 mg of caffeine and supplements just to wake up from my stupor and actually feel anything at all... From my experiences and others on here with it I cannot help but wonder why such a -medicine- exists at all, it sounds more like a narcotic than anything else. I firmly believe that effexor, and potentially other antidepressants, somehow destroy ones connection to their subconciousness self, which is why I experienced no emotions and others were able to do many unbelieveable things that they never would have done without being on it.

If you cannot feel human emotion then you also cannot feel empathy, and without empathy what is to stop you from doing a school shooting or something akin to that...? Which explains why teenagers when they've taken antidepressants sometimes end up doing these things, or the suicide rates and there's such a corporate interest in getting people hooked on it and lacking regulation from governments its criminal.

This website and its message is clearly needed, it exists because corporate interests and psychiatrists are unwilling to face the facts about the medications they've made. They see it everyday but many live in denial about it. Our voices are being silenced by chemicals and this way the truth is being held back from being told. Also why listen to someone who is on medication...? that person obviously doesn't know anything about what they're talking about, lets put a label on that person so noone will listen to him/her.

Its a vicious cycle, and the human costs are high, and I'm sad that you had to pay such a high price for something so inhuman Westcoast. My grand grandmother died from medications which is why my mother and me waited 3 months before getting any - as we were aware that something wasnt quite right about it. I never knew her but the story was part of my mothers upbringing.

completely agree with this but would add conscious mind... to it

"somehow destroy ones connection to their subconciousness self, which is why I experienced no emotions and others were able to do many unbelieveable things that they never would have done without being on it."

I hope you made a post in the introductions Martin.

Im sorry you are stuck without a car. :( my mother drives most all the time. I actually drove to the ATM yesterday. It's about a mile from my house. About two months ago I drove to therapy etc.. But now have to do therapy over the phone when I can. Ya, my bras give me a rash. The scent free stuff isn't that good. I smell. :( I am brushing my teeth with baking soda, that is when I brush my teeth. Lol it's not funny, but it's either crying or laughing.

JD, I guess it *is* a bit funny.

2009: Cancer hospital said I had adjustment disorder because I thought they were doing it wrong. Their headshrinker prescribed Effexor, and my life set on a new course. I didn't know what was ahead, like a passenger on Disneyland's Matterhorn, smiling and waving as it climbs...clink, clink, clink.

2010: Post surgical accidental Effexor discontinuation by nurses, masked by intravenous Dilaudid. (The car is balanced at the top of the track.) I get home, pop a Vicodin, and ...

Whooosh...down, down, down, down, down...goes the trajectory of my life, up goes my mood and tendency to think everything is a good idea.
2012: After the bipolar jig was up, now a walking bag of unrelated symptoms, I went crazy on Daytrana (the Ritalin skin patch by Noven), because ADHD was a perfect fit for a bag of unrelated symptoms. I was prescribed Effexor for the nervousness of it, and things got neurological. An EEG showed enough activity to warrant an epilepsy diagnosis rather than non-epileptic ("psychogenic") seizures.

:o 2013-2014: Quit everything and got worse. I probably went through DAWS: dopamine agonist withdrawal syndrome. I drank to not feel, but I felt a lot: dread, fear, regret, grief: an utter sense of total loss of everything worth breathing about, for almost two years.

I was not suicidal but I wanted to be dead, at least dead to the experience of my own brain and body.

2015: I  began to recover after adding virgin coconut oil and organic grass-fed fed butter to a cup of instant coffee in the morning.

I did it hoping for mental acuity and better memory. After ten days of that, I was much better, mood-wise. Approximately neutral.

And, I experienced drowsiness. I could sleep. Not exactly happy, I did 30 days on Wellbutrin, because it had done me no harm in the past.

I don't have the DAWS mood or state of mind. It never feel like doing anything if it means standing up.

In fact, I don't especially like moving. I'm a brain with a beanbag body.

Thanks Muddles, and thanks for asking how I am. Ok :).

Can you not drive? Or just don't have a vehicle at the moment?

I can drive and do when I have access to a car.  For a long time when I had a car I was not up to driving much and it sat there sucking insurance money out of my bank account and rusting away... the beach is only 5 min from my house by car so I could make it there and often went in the night when it was empty... I have noticed our beach is never really empty... there are always some people there no matter what time of night or day.

I don't have a car now and no signs of any financial improvement to ever get one.  I have a complete and total crash of finances I was self reliant before with no safety net I always felt the money I had in my house would see me thru but nothing last forever and that is gone. Long gone actually.

I started using floride free tooth paste and like the natures gate tooth paste mint and nature clean shampoo and conditioner for sensitive skin hand soap is also no scent nature clean as well as diswasher soap and rinse agent.  I find I am more apt to shower and take care of myself when I am not having dizzy spells and going comatose after a shower from reactions to scent in soaps.  After I started using these I thought back to all the reluctance to shower... the horrid reactions I had ever time I did shower... no wonder.  I am so happy to have beat that one thing.

One day I may post a picture of what I looked like before all this hell started and one of me in the thick of it... I do not look like the same person at all.  No makeup no nails no hair coloring it makes a huge difference.

Even the hair dresser ...I avoided as all their products make me ill.

I still avoid the hair dresser I don't want to be ill.

Finding these products has truly made life better for me.  I have not had the nerve or the money to try the skin creams yet... they are the worst for me in all this no creams ever as I get reactions and they last forever. But maybe I will try it soon as it would be nice to have a cream in winter.  I have tried many no luck yet.

I use the nature clean cleaning products on things that need it like sinks and the tub lord forbid I should ever clean the tub... I can't bend over and do it since the last car accident my back hurts just add to the insult of it all. But I do occassionaly use a mop thing and try it... this has put an end to my epson salt baths and that so sucks. I miss them but do the foot soaks better than nothing.  I know it would likely help my back but I rarely can talk anyone into cleaning the tub roomates shower and think the tub magically cleans itself.

Nature clean can be found at loblaws - super center is the same thing.  Not sure what it is in the states.

I have always used vinegar and dish soap for a lot of things but finding cleaning products without scent has made life better too.

hope some of this works for you too

peace

Hi all. Thanks for the greetings in early December. HNY

In fact, I don't especially like moving. I'm a brain with a beanbag body.

Yes, westcoast, it is probably still a legacy from your cold turkey several years ago.

Did we talk about fish oil and magnesium supplements, see

Hi all. Thanks for the greetings in early December. HNY

Hi Westcoast I would put money on all of this being caused by stopping the meds and issues now are common withdrawal stuff... common to me at least.  It is not unusual for symptoms to change part every now and then sleep is one of the long term issues people have for me it can get better then worse. Just part of the picture just so you know this is all normal for those of us going thru this abnormal experience.

I wish you peace

January update:
All is well.

I feel like I passively paralyze my body to keep from freaking out, if that makes sense. Can anyone else relate to the description he gives of mild akathisia?

http://wp.rxisk.org/life-on-drugs/

Quote:
Mild akathisia is even more difficult to describe and it’s even more insidious than severe akathisia because you are very unlikely to know it’s even happening. It makes you appear calm on the outside but on the inside something doesn’t feel quite right. Mild akathisia seems like no akathisia at all from the doctor’s point of view. How insidious is that?

very insidious and I have it a lot still it comes and goes especially with a new drug or a pain pill or just for no apparent reason.

I just made a thread under In the Media about 1975 article I found. The author describes mild akathisia that manifests as sitting still!

http://survivingantidepressants.org/index.php?/topic/7978-1975-journal-article-about-akathisia-and-psych-drugs/

I put some information on this page that I have likely said before I am afraid others will try what I did and have trouble I have to say I am in no way recommending any of it except the pedialyte I know that is completely safe for everyone on earth.

peace

I did not have an issue with brushing my teeth as I am a big clean teeth advocate since breaking my jaw years ago and I truly want to avoid any more trips to a dentist or like person.  This overactive sort of tooth brushing has been with me many years and stuck to a much lesser extent throughout wd.  As rough as it was having my mouth wired shut generally dominated there were times when I was in bed and not eating it all fell away but not for long.. seems to me not eating lessens the chance of cavities and the need for brushing anyway.

I did have a problem with the shower I felt I could not breath in the shower and took more baths even that was not enough as it was such a big hassle to get wet and then dry it took more energy than I had some days.  The other thing is the temperature change of bathing in any form I had parts that were cold a hand a foot ect.. to get all parts one temp sometimes helped but I found a heating pack a lot easier to use no getting dry... no being wet.  I hated the shower too because the little energy I did have would be completely used and I would have to lay in bed for ages after a shower to recover.  Showering also caused the whites of my eyes to go red... don't know why and I can't recall what docs said about it.

All my life I was a clean person up and in the shower every day I went from that to only showering when I had to and sometimes not even then. These days I am still not back to liking a shower it is not something I enjoy I do it because I am dirty and try to get away with as little as possible.

I hate to say that as it is what I would have once called gross but it is the truth... for whatever it is worth there it is. I still rest after a shower as I am still knocked out by it just not for hours and hours like I use to be.. I can within an hour dry my hair :) which reminds me of days waking to a mass of wild hair that was slept on wet.. glad those days have passed.  It takes a long time but it gets better.  These are the things we do to get by for a time.  I can't wait to truly enjoy a shower again that would be nice.

peace all

Tough..sorry..

Bathrobe I live my life in one.. or do sometimes.  I hate clothes to now still I use to love clothes. Style hm hm... loved it and that show I think it was you who mentioned it.. runway... love love love it!  I sew or use to... a lot.  I think most know by now I went off the rails became a stripper well when I was doing that job I also sewed and sold outfits.. sexy ones.. I created myself. I likely made a third of my money at that time selling outfits one could not really call them clothes.  They are so expensive to buy I am way to cheap to buy a dress that has no material at all in it and pay o$200 for it nope not me when I could make it for 40 bucks.  I did find my clients a bit sketchy when it came to paying... but I learned let them wear it for a half hour and they could talk there good customers into buying it. Now my mind is back there...to the outfits I have made and the girls I use to work with.  What a very odd life I have had. It is hard to join them all together as it seems like it was not me at all in some respects and in another the memories are vivid and I know valid. Still it creeps me out a bit or a lot to go there and back.... there is a bit of a netherland in between going there and back and I can get stuck there if I am not very conscious of it all and focus hard on the transition.

I have lost all interest in sewing my body is such an odd shape now and my stomach hurts if anything binds me... so no bras or even elastic camisoles both I can't stand.. pants are elastic and generally the only action my sewing machine sees is in altering something to fit my odd shape and accommodate my painful areas.

Odd how much I have changed so many times... feel like a balloon that was blown up too many times and contorted into different animal shapes my elasticity is gone... I don't have the capacity to shape shift any longer.  I keep wondering what I will become or is this it.  I guess only time will tell.

I wish you peace and health on your journey.
